Background / History

Jiang Chen rules the Primordial Immortal Court as its Immortal Lord. From the outset, he treats incursions and transmissions from Douluo Continent as beneath serious concern, choosing to toy with the outsiders rather than immediately destroy them. His Court’s resources and cultivation standards vastly surpass those known to Douluo’s viewers. 6

After emerging from seclusion, Jiang Chen restores Ye Qingyu’s damaged Dao foundation and instructs him to pursue a fearless Dao Heart and his own Immortal Dao. He subsequently sends a Dao avatar to the Lower Realm to recruit exceptional figures. 39

In the Lower Realm, Jiang Chen becomes involved with Stone Village and Little Shi Hao. He promises to shield the village from the Stone Kingdom, resolves the karma surrounding Shi Hao’s stolen Supreme Bone, reunites Shi Hao with A-Man and his grandfather, and later elevates Shi Hao to Zero Sequence disciple of the Immortal Court. 128 138 140 143 212

Jiang Chen later breaks through to the Quasi-Immortal Emperor realm while resisting forces attempting to alter history through the River of Time. Following the breakthrough, Immortal Kings and ancient figures come to the Primordial Immortal Court to pay their respects. 332 333 334

Personality

Jiang Chen is composed, aloof, and difficult to provoke. He ignores Tang Hao’s threats even after Tang Hao attains godhood, and he confronts powerful opponents without visible strain. 58 60 295

Despite his overwhelming authority, he is not indiscriminately cruel. He distinguishes between the guilty and those merely connected to them, sparing the Stone Emperor and followers while punishing participants in Shi Hao’s persecution. He also strips offending Lin Family members of cultivation rather than killing them. 140 143 342

He values personal merit over background. He rewards disciples for proven accumulation and effort, supports their individual paths, and assigns ranks according to demonstrated strength. 198 199 211
