Chapter 45: Kun-12 Subject Three
For seven days, Yang Ning was physically in the tank, but his mind was at the bottom of the river.
The bacteriophage didn't linger in the great river, nor did it consider salvaging any shipwrecks. Instead, it passed through the long river channel and arrived at the mouth of the Taiheng Heavenly River.
Before him stood a dam four hundred meters high – the Seacloud Great Dam!
This dam was built to prevent sea monsters from entering the land and rivers, and thus, it was equipped with strict monitoring measures.
There were Magic Treasures, Rune Arrays, and human surveillance. They even set up a monitoring room at the bottom of the river, where two Qi Refining cultivators were stationed year-round.
But this system was designed for strict entry and loose exit. Fish entering the inner river were inspected with utmost scrutiny, but those swimming out from the river were barely checked.
Not to mention a mere stick that had no Blood Essence fluctuations, no spiritual fluctuations, and no demonic power fluctuations. It was no match for those large fish, some several meters, tens of meters, or even hundreds of meters long. The moment it was swept into the sea by mud and sand, the Qi Refining cultivator was still meditating with his eyes closed, not even lifting an eyelid!
Ten breaths later, sensing the drastically different atmosphere, biological community, and buoyancy, Yang Ning's heart leaped with joy.
Finally, he had entered the sea!
While it wasn't as unfettered as a bird in the sky or a fish in the sea, the restrictions weighing on Yang Ning's shoulders had significantly lessened!
After all, the ocean was a world that no sect had ever truly controlled!
"Replicate myself, then scout the entire sea area. Choose a location far from the coast, within the territory of Qionghua Prefecture, and develop here!!" Yang Ning circled a spot on the map.
Qionghua Prefecture was located 5,400 kilometers southeast of Seacloud City. It was an island with an area of 300,000 square kilometers.
Since there were no Spirit Veins on the island, no sects existed there. It was home to four countries and thousands of families, primarily engaged in farming and sugarcane cultivation.
However, based on the stones transported from there, Yang Ning had determined that Qionghua Island possessed abundant aluminum ore, titanium ore, and possibly lithium ore.
Because aluminum required electrolysis for refinement, it hadn't been widely utilized in Tai Heng. Only a small amount of products were sold as jewelry and luxury goods, known as "soft jade gold."
If the preparation of aluminum was so difficult, let alone titanium. The people of this world hadn't even discovered magnesium, which was needed to produce titanium!
As for lithium? It was still being mistaken for ordinary soil!
The circle Yang Ning had drawn was 200 kilometers east of Qionghua Prefecture.
At this distance, even Gao Qiqiang wouldn't venture this far out to fish.
Three hundred li south of this location was the Yingzhou Loose Immortal Alliance, and 150 li southwest was the South Sea Exchange. Both were places renowned for their strong commercial atmosphere. If Yang Ning had any trading intentions, he could go to these places.
If he didn't want to spend money, that was also an option. These two places were not suppressed by major sects, so the cultivators' strength was generally not high, and the local administrators' organizational capacity was weak. Consequently, they were infamous for having many bandits.
As the old saying goes, "If bandits can rob, so can I!"
"It seems I don't need to stay here any longer!" Yang Ning thought again.
In Tai Heng, the constraints were too great. He couldn't expose his cultivation techniques, and his inventions had to be kept hidden.
His Artifact Forging was entirely different from Tai Heng's Artifact Forging; they weren't on the same path.
He actually preferred the atmosphere of unity and solidarity that Jiang Yun's group had.
However, staying in Tai Heng also had its advantages, namely the Supreme Dao Arts!
Currently, only the Taiheng Sect, Tianyi Sect, Myriad Saints Alliance, and Demon Alliance possessed Supreme Dao Arts. The reason Jiang Yun was destroyed in the past was twofold: his rapid development and the suspicion that he possessed Supreme Dao Arts.
Having Supreme Dao Arts didn't guarantee ascension to immortality, but without them, the probability of becoming an immortal would undoubtedly be very low.
Yang Ning had Supreme Dao Arts, but who would complain about having too many?
If one set of Supreme Dao Arts gave a 50% chance of becoming an immortal, wouldn't two sets make it 100%?
As long as he stayed in Tai Heng, there was a chance to obtain Tai Heng's Supreme Dao Arts. If he left, it would be much harder to acquire them.
"Let's try again. Perhaps there's still a chance!" Yang Ning thought. This matter concerned his path to immortality, so he had to give it his all!
On this day, the four of them gathered at the training ground once more.
Yang Ning drew white lines on the training ground and then sent the route map to the other three.
"Tomorrow is the day for the Demon Subduing Valley trial, so today is our last day of practice. We've developed good chemistry over these past few days, but we're still a bit short. I hope we can meet the standard today, ideally passing on the first try! Do you have confidence?"
"Yes!" Xun Hu, Ning Rong, and Su Bai shouted in unison.
"Then, Kun-12 Subject Three, first test, begin!"
The four immediately started running. Xun Hu was the fastest, Ning Rong second, Su Bai third, and Yang Ning fourth. Xun Hu then reached the top of the tank first, opened the hatch, and leaped inside. The other three followed in an orderly fashion.
"Total time: 8 seconds!" After the last person, Yang Ning, entered, he looked at the expectant eyes of the other three and briskly announced the result!
"Yay!" The three cheered together.
They recalled their first training session, when just getting into the tank took a full minute.
Now, their movements were orderly, their timing precise, and no effort was wasted to achieve this speed.
Setting a new record was thanks to the perfect cooperation and relentless effort of the four!
"Second item, traversing the thousand-meter maze!" Yang Ning timed it perfectly and placed his hand on the steering wheel.
The four tensed up and immediately began pedaling. The tank rumbled forward.
"Turn right 90°!" Ning Rong, the observer, called out.
The four immediately turned the steering wheel, maintaining their speed, and completed the turn.
"Turn left 75°!"
"Straight for 50 meters!"
"Turn right 30°!"
"Straight!"
"Left!"
"Right!"
"Bend ahead!"
The wheels rolled forward. Three of the four men's legs had started to go numb, but no one complained of being tired, and no one asked to speed up.
Because they knew that Kun-12 was a weapon that had never appeared in this world before, and tomorrow would be its debut!
This debut had to be perfect!
"Straight for 20 meters, reach the finish line!"
"Screeech!" An ear-piercing brake sound rang out, and the tank stopped precisely within the white line.
Yang Ning quickly checked the time and then jumped out of the tank.
The remaining three also hurried out and followed Yang Ning back along the original route, examining the tire tracks and the white line bit by bit.
Without realizing it, even their breathing had become lighter.
Several minutes later, the four returned to the finish line.
Yang Ning let out a long sigh and then said, "Scraping the line: 0, Crossing the line: 0, Total time: 17 minutes and 43 seconds!"
"Perfect score!"
"Wow!" Ning Rong clenched her fists and leaped up on the spot. Last time, it had taken 18 minutes and 20 seconds, and she had even scraped the line 4 times!
This time, it was perfect!
Su Bai was so excited he hugged the tank and refused to let go.
Even Xun Hu's heart was pounding. He didn't know why he was so excited. He could run faster than the tank, and in the future, one person with one sword could fight a Fierce Beast, yet he was so happy about such a record.
"It's not over yet!" Yang Ning said with a smile. "For the last item, it all depends on you, Ning Rong!"
"Mobile shooting? I've already achieved a hundred percent accuracy!"
