Background

Ye Guyi is the daughter of Ye Wuya and Lin Wanqiu, both teachers at the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy. Because of their work, she rarely had opportunities to spend time with them; their first-ring hunt in the Evil Demon Forest was therefore especially meaningful to her. At seven years old, she had reached soul power level ten but had not yet obtained a soul ring. 11

She inherited the Angel Martial Soul, a lineage that was once glorious but nearly lost after an unknown calamity ten thousand years earlier. By Ye Wuya's knowledge, Ye Guyi was the continent's only remaining Angel Martial Soul inheritor. The martial soul's holy, evil-opposing nature made her a target of Evil Soul Masters. 19

Ye Guyi's family was ambushed by Evil Soul Masters of the Holy Spirit Cult while searching for a suitable first soul ring. Terrified but obedient, she followed her parents' attempts to escape as her father stayed behind to fight and her mother later burned her Martial Soul to delay their pursuers. 11 12 13

Unable to rescue her parents herself, Ye Guyi ran toward a distant wolf howl in hope of finding help. Exhausted after fleeing roughly four hundred meters, she encountered Xu Tianming and Kong Deming and pleaded for them to save her family. 13 14 15

Kong Deming and Xu Tianming intervened, ultimately saving both of her parents from the Evil Soul Masters. 15 17 18

Joining Xu Tianming

After learning that her father’s cultivation had been ruined and that her Angel Martial Soul would leave her vulnerable to future persecution, Ye Wuya asked Xu Tianming to take Ye Guyi in and protect her. 19

With her parents' support, Ye Guyi agreed to follow Xu Tianming because he had saved her family and because she believed him to be a good person. 20

Her parents subsequently chose to relocate to Shrek City under new identities, acting as Xu Tianming's eyes within Shrek Academy in repayment for his aid. 22

Foundation strengthening and first soul ring

Xu Tianming offered Ye Guyi Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Glue to improve her physical constitution. Despite the painful heat it produced, she accepted it without hesitation, seeing it as an opportunity to gain the strength needed to protect her parents. 24

Ye Guyi accompanied Xu Tianming to Mingde Hall wearing a mask to conceal her identity from potential Holy Spirit Cult agents and supporters of Xu Tianran. 31
