Transforming into Kanna on Terra

Kanna, having left the Medical Department, yawned. She hadn't meant to fall asleep just now. After all, she hadn't rested at all since getting off the transport today.

Even though she had slept on the transport, the environment hadn't been conducive to good sleep. Just as she was about to head back to bed, Amiya came out.

Amiya told her that Huang Squad and Reserve Team A6 had sent word that they would rendezvous with Rhodes Island in a week. Although there had been a few minor setbacks along the way, the journey of over half a month had passed without any personnel losses, and everyone was currently in good health and safe.

Kanna was also happy to hear that Popukar was coming back. While Popukar didn't know how to control her strength, and every hug felt like a death embrace, she was one of the few friends Kanna could regularly play with at Rhodes Island. Hearing of her safe return eased Kanna's mind considerably.

She slept wonderfully that night, so much so that even Duke of Zhou wouldn't dare disturb her.

Over the next few days, Kanna returned to her previous routine. She spent her mornings wandering around as a "loafer" and her afternoons attending classes with Rosemary at Weifeng's.

Perhaps feeling that regular check-ups weren't serving much purpose, Kal'tsit didn't schedule any more physical examinations for her.

During these days, she also encountered Reinhardt and Ayers a few times. After understanding the situation at Rhodes Island, both of them chose to register as Operators. Reinhardt kept his name, while Ayers adopted the codename "Cliff" for his identity at Rhodes Island.

A week passed like this. After finishing breakfast, Kanna and Rosemary ambled from the upper levels all the way down to the lower levels of Rhodes Island, as they had heard the convoy would arrive at noon.

By the time the two reached the entrance, they didn't have to wait long before it slowly opened, and over a dozen off-road vehicles, covered in dust, drove in.

When the doors opened, Popukar, who had just alighted, looked overjoyed to see Kanna and Rosemary. She rushed over and gave Kanna a bear hug (though Kanna was the only one to enjoy this embrace, as Rosemary's body couldn't withstand it).

Returning to Rhodes Island after so many days away and seeing her friends, Popukar was exceptionally happy and even stronger than usual. The other members of A6 stood a short distance away, smiling as they watched Kanna and Popukar, their faces pressed together, almost being squeezed into distorted shapes.

However, the proud Huang still felt ashamed for viewing a young girl so narrowly. Thus, she usually avoided Kanna. So, even though Huang had stayed at Rhodes Island before, the two had never met.

Sensing Kanna's gaze, Huang calmly tossed her hair. "Hello, I'm Huang."

"Hello, I'm Kanna. Kanna knows you. Amiya trusts you a lot. She said you're an indispensable piece of the puzzle for Rhodes Island on the battlefield." Although Kanna didn't know Huang's inner struggles, Huang, as one of the four core members, with her considerable AoE and attack range, was undoubtedly Kanna's most trusted trump card in the past.

"Hahaha~ Really? I'm not as amazing as Amiya says!" Hearing the compliment, Huang's ears perked up, and she looked exceptionally happy.

As the group chatted, personnel from Blacksteel International also began to disembark from the vehicles.

Beside her, another girl in a Blacksteel International uniform looked much more composed (in the Vanilla plot, she wasn't part of the group arriving at Rhodes Island with Jessica, but to avoid hassle, they just grouped together).

When she saw Kanna, she seemed surprised. After asking someone next to her, she confirmed something.

As she passed Kanna's group, she proactively greeted Kanna. "Hello, my name is Vanilla. I'm a trainee from Blacksteel here for further studies at Rhodes Island."

Kanna looked up at the tall girl in front of her and extended her small hand. "Hello, my name is Kanna! I'm an Elite Operator at Rhodes Island. If you need any help here, feel free to come find me!"

"Seriously, Kanna, what earth-shattering thing did you do recently?" Seeing the Engineering Department operator's reaction, even an idiot would know Kanna had done something big, something that cost the department dearly, otherwise, they wouldn't be so nervous.

"Ahaha, nothing much... It was about a week ago. I asked Big Sister Vulcan to make me a weapon that suited me, and then Vulcan took me to the training grounds to let me go wild. So, one of the reasons I'm here today is to pick up the custom weapon Vulcan promised me."

After hearing Kanna's explanation, the others exchanged glances, wondering what exactly Kanna had done during her training session to make these usually fearless Engineering Department operators so tense.

Upon learning Kanna had returned to the Engineering Department, Closure rushed over, dropping everything she was doing.

Ever since that day, she had explicitly ordered all Engineering Department operators to report immediately if Kanna was spotted approaching. She was determined to stay with Kanna the entire time she was in the Engineering Department. The losses from the previous incident had kept her awake for days, and what made it worse was that Kal'tsit, that old hag, hadn't reimbursed her! So, she resolved to keep a constant eye on Kanna, doing her utmost to prevent further damage to "Rhodes Island's assets."

By the time Closure arrived, Kanna and her group had just reached the entrance of Vulcan's workshop.

Closure, standing nearby, immediately said, "The landship happens to be docked here for a day. Let's just go out to the open space and test it there."

Seeing everyone eager to try it out, Closure could only feel relieved that she was there. Otherwise, if Vulcan took Kanna to the training grounds again, she might have a heart attack.

As they retraced their steps, Closure used her communicator to submit an application to Kal'tsit.

Kal'tsit quickly replied, "Permission granted for a group of operators to leave the island for weapon testing."

Along the way, many people saw the "big door panel" Kanna was carrying.

When they learned they were going out to test a new weapon, several people followed with interest, and the group grew larger. Eventually, Kal'tsit, having received word, had to disperse most of the curious operators, allowing only Vulcan, Kanna, the curious Huang cat, and Ace to leave the landship.

Among those who were with them earlier, the A6 Reserve Team, having just returned to Rhodes Island, were required to undergo medical examinations at the Medical Department, despite wanting to join the fun.

Rosemary, due to her health condition, did not receive permission from Kal'tsit to leave the island. She could only watch Kanna's test from a window on a lower floor. Eyjafjalla, not being an operator but a patient, could only pitifully squat by the window with Rosemary.

Once outside, Kanna finally had enough space and excitedly swung the door panel in her hand, kicking up dust and debris around them.

The red appeared on the blunt side, and the blue on the sharp side. Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the red side emitted intense heat, while the blue side felt extremely cold.

Seeing the weapon successfully change color, Vulcan finally spoke.

"I used two special ores in this weapon. One absorbs surrounding heat when stimulated externally, becoming extremely cold, while the other does the opposite, rapidly heating up and releasing a lot of heat when stimulated. Both ores are fused with D32 steel, which is the hardest and has the highest melting point, to form this weapon.

The blunt side is for heat, and the sharp side is for cold.

Seeing the change in the weapon in her hands, Kanna became even more excited. As she swung it, everyone saw red and blue lights envelop her. Fiery air currents and icy sword winds created dazzling trails around her.

When Kanna had her fill and stopped supplying energy, the two weapons quickly calmed down.

Kanna brought the two weapons together, and they became the exaggerated door-sized greatsword again.

"How is it?"

"Vulcan, you truly live up to your reputation as Rhodes Island's strongest blacksmith. There's only one word for it: awesome!"

She had initially thought it was just a regular two-handed sword suitable for fighting giant monsters, but its actual performance far exceeded her expectations.
