Wang Dong'er sprang to her feet, staring fixedly at the Light Screen.
"How is this possible?"
"This absolutely can't be true!"
Xiao Xiao turned to look at her. Wang Dong'er's face had gone deathly pale.
"In the future, Huo Yuhao and I end up together?"
"I'm actually willing to die for him?"
"This has to be fake, right?"
"Dong'er, calm down—"
"How can I calm down?" Wang Dong'er cut her off, her voice trembling.
"I end up with him, and I'm even willing to give him to another woman?"
"Would I, Wang Dong'er, ever do something like that?"
Xiao Xiao hurriedly put a hand on her shoulder. "Listen to me. Maybe the Light Screen doesn't mean what you think it does."
Wang Dong'er's eyes reddened. "It doesn't mean what I think it does?"
"The Light Screen made it perfectly clear!"
"I chose to let them be together."
"I chose to kill myself."
"I even thought that Wang Qiu'er was more suited to him!"
"How am I supposed to take that?"
"I know you." Xiao Xiao gripped her shoulders tightly.
"You're not that kind of fool. How could you do something like that?"
"Something must have happened in between."
"That Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love doesn't sound like a proper place at all. Maybe someone's plotting against you."
Wang Dong'er bit down hard on her lower lip.
Xiao Xiao sighed and led her to sit down.
"Even if everything on the Light Screen is true, it's something that happens in the future."
"Now that you know about it, you can just avoid that godforsaken place when the time comes, can't you?"
Wang Dong'er lowered her head, her fingers clenched until her knuckles turned white.
After a long silence, she let out a breath, her gaze bewildered.
"Xiao Xiao, do you think..."
She stopped halfway through.
She didn't know how to face Huo Yuhao.
In the future, she would actually die for him, humbling herself so much that she'd hand the person she loved over to someone else.
Was that love, or stupidity?
Wang Dong'er closed her eyes.
The girl on the Light Screen, sobbing her heart out, the girl who chose to die—she wasn't someone else. She was Wang Dong'er in the future.
Would her future self love Huo Yuhao that much?
She didn't know whether she should be afraid.

The grounds of Shrek Academy.
Huo Yuhao stood at the center, frozen in place.
The images on the Light Screen seemed carved into his mind, tearing at his nerves again and again.
"In the future... will Dong'er really die for me?"
He clenched his fists sharply.
"This is the last thing I want to see!"
His voice rose, drawing glances from everyone around him, but he didn't notice.
"The Light Screen was right to criticize me!"
"If Dong'er and I end up together in the future, how could I ever agree to something like that?"
"How could I let her die for me?"
He looked down at his trembling hands.
"Whether she's my girlfriend or my brother, she's the most important person to me."
"She's Wang Dong'er, the most important person in my life."
"How could I ever let her throw her life away?"
"How could I accept her giving me up to someone else?"
The wind swept across the grounds. He didn't move.
After a long time, he raised his head, his expression grave.
"What on earth is my future self doing?"
"Something must have happened to make Dong'er do something like that."
"That trial at the Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love—who came up with it?"
"What kind of trial makes someone give up the person they love?"
His brows drew together.
Remembering the line on the Light Screen—"Wang Dong'er thinks Wang Qiu'er is more suited to Huo Yuhao"—felt like a knife twisting in his chest.
"Disgusting."
He gritted his teeth and spat out the word, his voice ice-cold.
"That Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love is utterly disgusting."
"Whoever came up with it, it has no right to exist if it takes pleasure in other people's feelings and lives."
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
"Dong'er wouldn't do that for no reason. Something must be forcing her."
"A threat? A curse? Or does that godforsaken place have some kind of rule?"
He paced back and forth, his thoughts racing.
"Now that I know about it, I absolutely can't let it happen."
He stopped, his gaze like red-hot iron.
"I can't miss a single piece of information related to the Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love."
"If someone tries to send me there, I'll stay far away from them."
"If someone tries to plot against Dong'er and me, I'll drag them out first."
He remembered the line on the Light Screen: "I keep feeling like all of this is a setup."
"That's right. This must be a setup."
"Dong'er got dragged into this because of me."
"If I can't protect her, what kind of man am I?"
More and more people gathered on the grounds, talking among themselves.
But Huo Yuhao couldn't hear them anymore.
He stood amid the crowd like an island, alone.
Only one thought remained in his mind.
The Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love.
He wanted to see who would be waiting for him when the time came.
Unfortunately, though, nothing that followed had any direct connection to the Valley of Qiankun Questioning Love.
The Sharp Critique on the Light Screen continued.
On the Light Screen.
[Wang Dong'er's death wasn't a true death, after all. She was the female lead.]
[After that, all sorts of things happened, and in the end Wang Dong'er and Wang Qiu'er fused, becoming Tang Wutong.]
