Background / History

Tang San is the son of Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo, and Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor in human form. Tang Hao reveals these facts while dying from injuries sustained after attacking Ning Xiaochun, Shui Bing'er, and Sword Douluo Chen Xin. He also tells Tang San that three spirit bones remain in his body and urges him to grow strong enough to face Spirit Hall and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 74.

Though Tang San initially vows revenge beside his father, he quickly abandons that promise after Tang Hao's death. He rejects the responsibility of avenging either parent, takes Tang Hao's three spirit bones, and leaves the corpse unburied in the forest 75.

Tang San's humiliation at the hands of Ning Xiaochun and the emergence of Soul Tools damage his confidence in Tang Sect hidden weapons. He resolves to establish the Tang Sect on the Douluo Continent and prove that its weapons remain superior 65 66.

Personality

Tang San is pragmatic and highly self-preserving. After his failed ambush against Ning Xiaochun, he treats victory as more important than the methods used to achieve it; this same outlook informs his rejection of Tang Hao's dying request for revenge 65 75.

He is fiercely proud of Tang Sect hidden weapons and reacts badly when the Heaven Dou Auction House dismisses the Godly Zhuge Crossbow and his other creations as obsolete beside the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's Soul Tools 76 77.

By age fifteen, repeated defeats, Tang Hao's death, and the rise of Soul Tools have made him more taciturn and obsessive in his pursuit of strength. He seeks the Sea God inheritance as a path to reclaim his standing 136.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Shrek Academy Conflict

Tang San participates in the Shrek Academy group's confrontation with Ning Xiaochun and Shui Bing'er in the Star Dou Forest. While Shui Bing'er battles the academy's teachers, Tang San attempts to assassinate Ning Xiaochun with the Dragon Whisker Needle. The attempt fails, and Ning Xiaochun defeats him with a Soul Tool Ray Gun, piercing his shoulder and publicly humiliating him 64 65.

Tang Hao's Death

Tang Hao intervenes after Tang San's defeat and pursues Ning Xiaochun's group. Sword Douluo defeats Tang Hao with Ning Xiaochun's support, leaving him mortally wounded. Tang San finds his dying father, briefly swears vengeance, then takes Tang Hao's spirit bones and abandons both the vendetta and Tang Hao's remains 72 74 75.

Soul Tool Auction

Disguised in Heaven Dou City, Tang San attempts to consign the Godly Zhuge Crossbow to the Heaven Dou Auction House. The weapon is dismissed as outdated trash due to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's Soul Tools, leading Tang San to remain and watch Ning Xiaochun's auction in anger 76 77.

Road to Vast Sea City

At fifteen and level 59, Tang San travels to Vast Sea City in search of the Sea God inheritance. He encounters Ning Xiaochun, Shui Bing'er, and Qian Renxue on the road, where his attempt to separate peacefully from Ning Xiaochun exposes his refusal to take responsibility for Tang Hao's actions 136 137.

Death

Ning Xiaochun arranges a duel between Tang San and Qian Renxue, promising Tang San freedom if he wins. Tang San initially overwhelms her through combat experience and the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, but Ning Xiaochun strengthens Qian Renxue with the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda. When Tang San begs for mercy and then launches Yama's Invitation, Shui Bing'er freezes the weapon and his arm. Qian Renxue beheads him, while Ning Xiaochun destroys his corpse to prevent any possibility of survival 139 140 141.
