Early Life and the Federation

Ya Li grew up alone in the slums. Although her talent was ordinary and her cultivation progressed slowly, she remained there after becoming a Soul Master, treating impoverished people who could not afford medical care. Upon discovering the Wish Angel’s faith-based growth at the Soul King realm, she accepted Federation resources in exchange for participating in experiments investigating the possibility of godhood 130.

Approximately fifty years before Shrek City’s destruction, she traveled through fourteen provinces in fifteen days to combat a severe plague. She exhausted her life force saving the final patients, fell unconscious for a year, and emerged as a Titled Douluo 130.

Unknown to her, Yun Ming had accepted the previous Sea God Pavilion Master’s plan to let the Holy Spirit Cult create the plague. He subsequently appeared as her savior and used Life Sharing to bind her to Shrek, preventing the Federation from reclaiming her and keeping her potential route to godhood within the academy 127.

Shrek City’s Destruction and Rescue

During Shrek City’s destruction, Yun Ming shattered his developing divine seat, which he had constructed using Ya Li’s faith power. His farewell urged her to nurture a final seed for Shrek; his private reasoning revealed that his hoped-for resurrection and ascension required using her again 127.

Yang Fan found Ya Li unconscious beneath rubble near the former Sea God Pavilion. The Life Seed planted in her by Tang Hao was draining her vitality and attempting to erase her soul imprint, turning her into a vessel. Her subconscious initially cooperated with it because she regarded the process as salvation 128 129.

Following the Goddess of Life’s guidance, Yang Fan entered her subconscious and showed her memories exposing Yun Ming and Tang Hao’s arrangements. Once her resistance to rescue ended, Lan Yin took over the seed’s underlying commands and stopped its consumption of her life force and faith. The rescue also left Yang Fan’s aura within Ya Li’s soul 129.

Yang Fan then offered her a future together through the Life Contract. His care restored her vitality, but his decision was also calculated: he used the contract to break down her mental defenses and secure the Life Seed entrusted to her body 130.

Despite her exhaustion and emotional collapse, Ya Li immediately returned to saving people. She countered the Holy Spirit Cult’s plague and poison gas while Yang Fan helped relocate survivors. These efforts brought her to the Limit Douluo realm 131.

Leaving Shrek and Joining the Blood God Legion

Ya Li had never fully shared Shrek’s ideals. Her commoner background and Federation education placed her at odds with elders such as Long Yeyue, who withdrew with the surviving inner-court elites rather than confronting the Holy Spirit Cult’s counterattack. With Yun Ming’s betrayal exposed, Ya Li considered returning to medical work in the slums, then accepted Yang Fan’s invitation to address the Abyss 131.

On Devil Island, the Life Seed awakened through her connection with Yang Fan, producing a Life Tide and a shared vision of Life and Destruction’s sacrifice during a God Realm crisis. She subsequently reached the demigod stage and helped Yang Fan withstand the Destruction Stone’s power 135 136 137.

During a stop at Sea God Lake, Leng Yaozhu attacked her over Yun Ming’s death. Ya Li defended herself while deliberately withholding her stronger abilities until Yang Fan intervened. Leng Yaozhu later apologized 139 140 142.

Ya Li’s compassion repeatedly overrides her own safety. She chose to remain among the poor after gaining the means to leave, burned her vitality to stop a continental plague, and resumed rescuing civilians immediately after discovering that her life and faith had been manipulated. Her first concern after recovering was whether she had acted recklessly again 130 131.

She is kind without being unintelligent. Although she initially pleaded that Yang Fan’s revelations were false, she recognized them as genuine memories. She also understood the political manipulation surrounding her career and later saw through Blood Eight’s attempt to use Yang Fan against Blood Nine 130 153.
