Background / History

Lin Dong originated from a remote village in the Great Yan Dynasty. Though his talent was considered decent, he began cultivating later than others and initially stood only at the second level of Body Tempering. His exceptional perseverance and comprehension let him advance quickly, but he still lacked the resources available to childhood-trained geniuses. Shortly after reaching the third level, he discovered a mysterious Stone Talisman in a pool; it merged with him and became the foundation of his rise. Under his leadership, his family became Green Mountain Town’s foremost power 88.

His early journey was shaped by hardship and a lack of reliable protection. Little Marten could offer methods and guidance, but was only somewhat stronger than Lin Dong at the time; their relationship became one of mutual achievement rather than dependence. Lin Dong endured brutal trials largely on his own, including mental tempering, body-refining lightning, and the Devouring Ancestor Symbol’s dark void 91 93.

After gaining the Devouring Ancestor Symbol, Lin Dong rescued Little Yan from the Yin Puppet Sect and annihilated the sect for capturing him. He then returned to challenge Lin Langtian, the clansman whose humiliation had driven much of his early cultivation. Lin Dong won their clan-competition battle but regretted being unable to kill Lin Langtian at the time 92 93.

During the Hundred Dynasties War, he sought the Life-Death Reincarnation Pill to restore Little Marten’s body, reached the final round with his brothers, killed Lin Langtian in their final confrontation, shattered the Heaven Sealing Formation Map through three layers of Wind and Thunder Tribulation, and won the championship. He chose the Dao Sect afterward 93 94.

The Yuan Sect’s persecution of the Dao Sect became Lin Dong’s defining conflict. After narrowly escaping the three Yuan Sect leaders, he vowed to return and kill them. He repeatedly endures ordeals that leave him near death—such as the Devouring Ancestor Symbol trial and one hundred thousand lightning strikes—rather than surrendering 92 99. He is also pragmatic: when burdened by responsibility for his family, Little Marten, and Little Yan, he chose to endure Lin Langtian’s humiliation rather than gamble their safety on an immediate confrontation 91.

He is decisive and ruthless toward enemies, particularly those who threaten people he considers his own. Capturing Little Yan led him to exterminate the Yin Puppet Sect, while the Yuan Sect’s crimes against the Dao Sect drove him to pursue its destruction 92 103 106.
