Background / History

Tang San’s soul came from another world and entered the Douluo Continent after his previous death. He served his alcoholic father, Tang Hao, devotedly despite Tang Hao’s uncertainty over whether the soul in his son’s body was truly his son. Tang Hao’s attitude changed after learning Tang San possessed twin Martial Souls, and he sent him to the academy. 21

At the academy, Tang San considered killing a guard who had harassed his village chief; Yu Xiaogang intervened. When Yu Xiaogang later deduced the secret of Tang San’s twin Martial Souls, Tang San again considered silencing him, but accepted him as his teacher after hearing his theories. 21 22

Tang San and Yu Xiaogang nearly died while pursuing Tang San’s first soul ring in the Soul Hunting Forest. Tang San killed the Datura Snake with hidden weapons, then absorbed its ring to gain Blue Silver Bind. After Tang Hao departed and entrusted Tang San to Yu Xiaogang, Tang San acknowledged Xiao Wu as his younger sister. 23 24

After six years of training, Tang San and Xiao Wu entered Shrek Academy. He became involved in conflicts with Dai Mubai, Zhao Wuji, Canghui Academy, and Meng Yiran, repeatedly relying on hidden weapons, combat techniques, and Tang Hao’s reputation to resolve disputes. 24 25 26

His Blue Silver Grass later evolved into Blue Silver Emperor. Tang San entered the Capital of Slaughter, cleared the Hell Road alongside Hu Liena, gained the God of Slaughter Domain, and poisoned the Hell Road to destroy the Capital of Slaughter. 31

Following Xiao Wu’s sacrifice, Tang San pursued methods to revive her, founded the Tang Sect, incorporated the Four Great Sects, and embarked on the Sea God trials with the Shrek Seven Devils. 33 34 He ultimately revived Xiao Wu, became a Title Douluo, inherited the Sea God’s power, and later wielded both Sea God and Asura God power. 37 39 42

After reaching the God Realm, Tang San sought to preserve the Tang Sect’s legacy by planning to send his daughter Tang Wutong to the mortal realm to meet a new Child of Destiny. 45 His deeds were subsequently exposed by the Light Screen; he received no reward and was ultimately stripped of his power. 52 55

Personality

Tang San is intensely proud of his talent, status, and self-reliance. He regards himself as a favored Son of Destiny and reacts with envy when Xiao Yan’s rise or the higher-level cultivation systems of other worlds surpass what he considers possible in Douluo. 14 16 19 64

He is protective of Tang Hao and Xiao Wu, willing to confront powerful opponents on their behalf. His dedication to reviving Xiao Wu drives much of his later accumulation of power, resources, soul rings, and divine inheritances. 24 25 33 37

His protectiveness is paired with secrecy, vindictiveness, and a readiness to consider lethal solutions when others learn his secrets or obstruct his goals. He practices the Mysterious Heaven Skill from childhood, reaches Dou Practitioner at age ten, then stagnates and turns toward hidden weapons and revenge after Nalan Yanran annuls his engagement. 53

Yao Lao reveals that he caused Tang San’s Dou Qi dissipation to temper him, teaches him alchemy, and helps him regain the ninth stage of Dou Qi in half a year. Tang San nevertheless refuses Yao Lao’s superior cultivation methods, reaches Da Dou Shi after three years, and eventually plans to kill Yao Lao for his treasures. Yao Lao discovers the betrayal and kills him. 54
