Background / History

Tang Hao secretly watched Tang San's martial-soul awakening from outside Holy Soul Village. Tang San's unexpectedly reduced innate soul power and the apparent absence of the Clear Sky Hammer unsettled him; Gu Han's Karma Scissors also gave him an inexplicable sense of danger. Tang Hao consequently decided to watch Gu Han closely. 2

After learning that Gu Han possessed a thousand-year first spirit ring, Tang Hao confronted him at Nuoding Academy. He accused Gu Han of plotting against Tang San, sought to take Xiao Wu for Tang San's future, and attempted to kill Gu Han when he resisted. Yue Guan and Gui Mei interrupted him before he could finish the attack. 7

When confronted by the two Spirit Hall elders, Tang Hao detonated one of his spirit rings to break free, seized Tang San from the dormitory, and escaped. 8

Years later, Gu Han removed Ah Yin from the cave behind Holy Soul Village's waterfall, where Tang Hao had kept her sealed. Tang Hao returned to find both the barrier's connection and Ah Yin gone, responding with uncontrolled rage. 14

Tang Hao later targeted Xiao Wu at Shrek Academy, intending to force her sacrifice for Tang San after seeing Tang San's inadequate ten-year second spirit ring. He easily defeated Flender and Zhao Wuji, but Gu Han and Chen Xin prevented him from taking her. 26 27

Ah Yin appeared during the battle and condemned Tang Hao for leaving her in a sunless cave without the sunlight, dew, and air necessary for a plant-type spirit beast. After revealing that Gu Han had rescued and restored her, she severed all ties with Tang Hao. 28

Tang Hao remained present when Ah Yin revealed her identity to Tang San and challenged Tang Hao for concealing the truth of her sacrifice and bloodline from their son. Unable to answer her accusations, he fell into despair; he later departed Shrek Academy still blaming Gu Han for taking Ah Yin away. 29 30

Tang Hao is a burly, middle-aged man whose presence is marked by overwhelming pressure and a hoarse voice. He often conceals himself in a black robe, though his rage can turn his eyes blood-red. 7 26 28

Personality

Tang Hao is intensely protective of Tang San, but that protectiveness repeatedly becomes controlling and violent. He sees Gu Han as a threat to his son, attempts to seize Xiao Wu for Tang San's advancement, and is willing to attack children and academy staff to achieve his aims. 7 26

His attachment to Ah Yin is equally obsessive. Tang Hao insists that sealing her away was protection, yet Ah Yin describes the cave as an isolating prison that deprived her of the conditions needed to live and recover. When she rejects him, he redirects his guilt into jealousy and fury toward Gu Han. 28
