Background / History
Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as Tang Hao's son. During his spirit awakening, he manifested Blue Silver Grass and initially tested at Innate Full Soul Power. Gu Han altered the result, reducing Tang San's recorded and sensed spirit power to Level Seven. Tang San was visibly shocked by the unexplained loss. 1
He and Gu Han received work-study placements at Nuoding Junior Spirit Master Academy. Before Tang San met Xiao Wu, Gu Han severed the early karmic thread between them, leaving Tang San with an inexplicable sense that something was missing. 2
At the academy, Yu Xiaogang deduced that Tang San was a twin-spirit user. Fearing exposure of the Clear Sky Hammer, Tang San attempted to kill Yu Xiaogang with a Small Iron Arrow. Gu Han's interference caused the shot to miss fatally; afterward, Tang San's killing intent faded and he accepted Yu Xiaogang as his teacher. 3
Tang San acquired his first spirit ring from a Mandala Snake in the Soul Hunting Forest. He used his hidden Clear Sky Hammer to finish the beast, exposing his second martial soul to Gu Han and intensifying his suspicion of him. 5
Years later, Tang San attempted to enroll at Shrek Academy at Level Twenty-nine, but Gu Han erased his second soul ring, dropping him back to Level Twenty and initially preventing his admission. Flender later accepted him for Yu Xiaogang's sake. 15 17
On a subsequent hunt for a replacement second ring, Tang San killed a 1,300-year Ghost Vine. Gu Han's Karma Inversion reduced the resulting ring to ten-year quality, leaving Tang San with an ineffective Parasite skill and further undermining Yu Xiaogang's theories. 19 21
During Tang Hao's confrontation with Gu Han and Ah Yin, Tang San learned that Ah Yin was his mother and a Blue Silver Grass soul beast. Unable to immediately accept the revelation, he asked for time to process it. 29
Appearance
As a child, Tang San wore patched clothing and had a well-proportioned build. His eyes were notably more mature than those of other children his age. 1
- Initially seen in worn but practical village clothing. 1
- Later appears in a blue outfit while applying to Shrek Academy. 15
- His Blue Silver Grass is described as deep blue after acquiring spirit rings. 15
Personality
Tang San is composed and observant, speaking with judgment beyond his age during his awakening. He is intensely protective of his secrets, immediately considering murder when Yu Xiaogang identified him as a twin-spirit user. 1 3
He is distrustful of those he views as threats, particularly Gu Han after Gu Han witnessed the Clear Sky Hammer. Yet he is receptive to words that validate his martial soul and accepted Yu Xiaogang after hearing that there are no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters. 3 5
Tang San also shows restraint under pressure. He endured Yu Xiaogang's increasingly obsessive expectations regarding a high-quality second ring, though he privately recognized the danger of exceeding normal absorption limits. 19
