Background / History
High Priestess and Earlier Relationships
Bo Saixi has devoted her life to serving the Sea God and cultivating, ruling Sea God Island for nearly a hundred years. Her ultimate duty is to sacrifice herself to open the path to godhood for the Sea God's true successor 3 9 19.
Decades earlier, Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu both expressed admiration for her. The details of their shared past remained a secret known only to the three of them. Tang Chen's absence remains emotionally significant to her, making Li Qing's unexpected knowledge of him particularly disturbing 3 14 32.
More than twenty years before Li Qing's awakening, Tang Hao visited Sea God Island with his older brother to deliver a letter. Bo Saixi remembered him as a talented, high-spirited young man and privately admired his potential 5.
Li Qing's Awakening
When Li Qing receives the Sea God's golden trident mark, Bo Saixi personally descends to the awakening platform. She prevents him from kneeling and declares that nobody on Sea God Island—including herself—may accept his obeisance as the Sea God's chosen inheritor 2 3.
During their first meeting, she unexpectedly begins hearing his inner thoughts. His knowledge of Tang Chen, Qian Daoliu, and her sacrificial destiny convinces her that he possesses secrets far beyond those of an ordinary island-born child. She brings him to Sea God Hall, makes it his residence, and offers cultivation guidance and help obtaining soul rings 3 4.
Listening outside his room, she subsequently learns of the Asura and Rakshasa godhoods and his intention to kill Tang San. Discovering that Tang San is Tang Hao's son—and therefore Tang Chen's great-grandson—deepens her confusion about Li Qing's motives 5.
First Soul Rings
Bo Saixi supplies Li Qing with a Sea God Island fund card, then secretly follows him to discover why he wants to buy whale glue. His thoughts reveal its use in strengthening the physique for higher-age soul ring absorption, a property previously unknown to her 6 7 11.
She initially considers a thousand-year first ring dangerously incompatible with established soul master limits. After hearing his explanation about his innate soul power, strengthened body, and martial soul's suppression of water-attributed energy, she agrees to accompany him 10 11.
With Xiao Bai, she guards Li Qing while he absorbs a thousand-year Evil Demon Orca ring and then a three-thousand-year ring. She remains ready to interrupt the process if necessary and drives away the Evil Demon Orca King through her presence and calm authority 12 13 14 15.
Alliance with Spirit Hall
Bo Saixi correctly identifies Li Qing as the real reason for Qian Daoliu's visit. She permits him to observe the boy only while concealed and without interfering, then asks whether Spirit Hall's archives contain information about the Mysterious Origin Water-Controlling Flag. Neither institution can identify its origin 16 17.
When Qian Daoliu proposes a marriage alliance involving Li Qing and Qian Renxue, Bo Saixi seeks the Sea God's approval rather than deciding alone. Although she raises Spirit Hall's past invasion and the resulting casualties, she accepts the divine instruction to place Sea God Island's interests above old grievances 19.
She welcomes Qian Renxue, considers her a suitable match for Li Qing, and helps arrange the engagement. Afterward, she raises the distinction between betrothal and a formal wedding and houses the visitors in Sea God Hall 35 41 43 45.
Confession and Departure
By the time Li Qing is twelve, Bo Saixi has watched six years of his extraordinary growth. His direct declaration of affection unsettles her despite her attempts to discourage him with their century-wide age difference. She avoids private contact for a month, delegating his guidance and daily arrangements to the Sacred Pillar guardians and temple attendants 28 32 33.
Qian Renxue's arrival brings temporary relief: Bo Saixi hopes the engagement will redirect Li Qing's attention. Nevertheless, she experiences an unfamiliar sense of loss when Qian Renxue binds him to her future 35 39.
After discussing their shared ability to hear Li Qing's thoughts, Bo Saixi agrees that Qian Renxue may take him to the mainland. She demands that Spirit Hall guarantee his safety, accepts a farewell hug, and repeats her warning publicly at the pier. When the Sea God Trident descends before Li Qing, she clarifies that he has not yet begun his first official trial 46 47 48 51 52 53.
Appearance
Bo Saixi is tall and graceful, with a fair complexion and an appearance described as both beautiful and sacred 2.
- Hair: Deep sea-blue, reaching her waist; worn loose, pinned up, or falling over her shoulders depending on the occasion 2 6 51.
- Eyes: Deep ocean-blue 3 14.
- Priestly attire: Luxurious crimson robes with gold trim, silver high heels, and an ornate golden crown 2 51.
- Informal clothing: A pale blue dress embroidered with silver wave patterns during Li Qing's early cultivation preparations; a simple white dress for his departure 6 51.
Personality
Bo Saixi normally maintains a restrained, dignified manner suited to her religious authority. She remains calm before the Evil Demon Orca King and during politically sensitive encounters with Qian Daoliu, distinguishing personal history from threats to the island 14 16 17.
Her private interactions with Li Qing reveal warmth, curiosity, and a mischievous streak. She deliberately teases him about his secret shopping plans and later enjoys hearing him criticize other people rather than herself 6 36 39.
Despite her age and cultivation, her sheltered life has left her inexperienced in romance. Li Qing's direct affection disrupts her composure more than the restrained admiration of her earlier suitors. She regards her avoidance of him as unbecoming of the High Priestess and attempts to suppress her agitation through soul power and official work 9 32 33 34 35.
She is intensely protective of Li Qing but also capable of revising her assumptions. His successful cultivation challenges lead her to reconsider conventional limits, while his mainland departure forces her to acknowledge the benefits of experience beyond her own supervision 11 15 47 48.
Abilities & Skills
Rank 99 Cultivation
Bo Saixi is a Peerless Douluo with immense spiritual power and exceptionally sharp perception. Her eight-black, one-red soul ring configuration comes from divine trials and God-bestowed rings rather than an ordinary beast-hunting progression 3 10.
- Her pressure momentarily unsettles Qian Renxue and makes even Qian Daoliu take her departure warning seriously 48 52.
- Her presence forces the Evil Demon Orca King to abandon its aggression without a fight 13 14.
- Qian Daoliu identifies her, the seven Sacred Pillar guardians, and the island's terrain as major obstacles to another invasion 24.
Hearing Li Qing's Inner Voice
Bo Saixi begins hearing Li Qing's unspoken thoughts on the day of his martial soul awakening. The connection is one-way, and its cause remains unknown 3 46.
- Reveals concealed information about her past, divine succession, whale glue, and Li Qing's plans 3 5 6.
- Is not established as general mind-reading; she had never previously encountered an ability that directly exposed another person's thoughts 3.
- Is also experienced by Qian Renxue, but apparently not by Qian Daoliu. Bo Saixi cannot determine whether other listeners exist 36 46.
- Does not make every prediction automatically reliable; she acknowledges the difficulty of judging the voice's credibility 46.
- She keeps the connection secret even from the Sea God, fearing that disclosure would prompt investigation and cause Li Qing to conceal or manipulate his thoughts 47.
Spiritual Communication and Soul Power Control
Bo Saixi uses spiritual communication and precise soul power manipulation for both discreet exchanges and practical actions 3 11 14 36.
- Sends Qian Renxue a telepathic warning not to reveal that she can hear Li Qing's thoughts 36.
- Projects her voice directly into the Evil Demon Orca King's mind 14.
- Uses an invisible force to prevent Li Qing from kneeling and opens the heavy temple doors with a gesture 3 35.
- Conceals her presence while observing Li Qing and travels at speeds described as resembling teleportation 4 5 6 17.
- Calls Xiao Bai through a ripple of spiritual energy sent into the ocean 11.
Cultivation Guidance and Divine Service
Bo Saixi supervises Li Qing's development while observing restrictions on assistance with the Sea God's trials 4 29.
- Helps arrange soul ring acquisition and monitors dangerous absorption attempts 12 13.
- Gathers Sea God power at her fingertips, ready to forcibly interrupt an unsafe absorption 13.
- Offers help with cultivation and obtaining rings, but explicitly excludes direct assistance with the trials themselves 4.
