Background / History

Yu Xiaogang gained renown as the “Grandmaster of Theory” after publishing spirit-master theories, including the Ten Core Competencies of Spirits. His status and reputation were bolstered by Bibi Dong and Martial Soul Hall; he later held the nominal position of Honorary Elder despite being only level 29. 7 19

He was formerly involved with Bibi Dong. Song Ye alleges that Xiaogang’s published work consisted of common knowledge already held by high-level Soul Masters, combined with unverified conclusions, and that he accessed Martial Soul Hall’s library while close to Bibi Dong. 7 12 17 57

Before the confrontation at the Soul Hunting Forest, Xiaogang accepted Tang San—an innate full soul power, twin-Martial-Soul prodigy—as his disciple. He guided Tang San toward absorbing a Datura Snake ring for Blue Silver Grass, producing the Entangle Soul Skill and adding poison to the Martial Soul. 9 14

Soul Hunting Forest confrontation

Yu Xiaogang encounters Song Ye and Bibi Dong while leaving the Soul Hunting Forest with Tang San after the Datura Snake hunt. Still weakened by poison, he initially assumes his public reputation will settle Tang San’s accusation that Song Ye insulted him. 9 10

Song Ye publicly accuses Xiaogang of passing common knowledge off as original theory and challenges the claimed Soul Ring absorption limits. Song Ye’s thousand-year first ring leaves Xiaogang unable to defend the 423-year first-ring limit, while bystanders and Tang San begin questioning his credibility. 11 12

Cornered, Xiaogang attempts to use Luo Sanpao against Song Ye. Bibi Dong intervenes to protect Song Ye, revealing overwhelming pressure and preventing the attack. 13

Breakdown with Tang San and Bibi Dong

Xiaogang insists that Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass is a “trash Martial Soul,” contradicting his own teaching that no Martial Soul is inherently useless. Tang San also realizes the Datura Snake had already been killed and that Xiaogang was poisoned rather than successfully hunting it himself. 14 15

When Xiaogang attacks Song Ye in anger, Song Ye evades him and kicks him several meters away. Tang San hesitates rather than immediately helping his master, and Xiaogang desperately claims only he can guide Tang San’s twin Martial Souls. 15

When Tang San demands a concrete solution for the twin-Martial-Soul backlash, Xiaogang cannot answer. He promises instead to seek the method from Bibi Dong. 16

Bibi Dong later severs her remaining attachment to Xiaogang and removes him from his Honorary Elder position in Martial Soul Hall. 18 19

Return to Martial Soul Hall

Three years later, Tang San pressures Xiaogang to fulfill his promise. Tang San’s combat strength has surpassed Xiaogang’s, and he questions whether a level-29 master can truly contact the Pope. Xiaogang finally travels to Martial Soul City, believing Bibi Dong still has feelings for him. 41 54

At the Pope Palace, guards beat and drag Xiaogang inside after he invokes his former standing. Bibi Dong receives him coldly; he requests her twin-Martial-Soul cultivation method for Tang San, but she refuses to share it. 55 56

Xiaogang becomes hostile, demands that Bibi Dong “take responsibility,” and threatens Martial Soul Hall. Bibi Dong orders his legs broken, injects Death Spider Emperor venom into them, and has him thrown out of Martial Soul City. The poison ensures he cannot walk again and causes recurring pain. 57

Deception after crippling

Xiaogang returns to Notting Academy in a wheelchair. To prevent Tang San from leaving, he falsely claims Bibi Dong gave him the twin-Martial-Soul method and invents a lap-running training plan. 72

He also tells Tang San that Bibi Dong still loves him and punished the Martial Soul Hall personnel who injured him, despite Tang San’s suspicion of the story. 72
