Background / History

Medusa ruled the Snake-People Tribe in the Tagor Desert. Having remained at peak Dou Huang for a long time, she pursued the Green Lotus Core Flame as her means of breaking through to Dou Zong. Her tribe's Dou Wang experts detected the flame through the abnormal heat and energy fluctuations it created in the desert. 24

At the flame's location, Medusa was unable to immediately act because of her innate fear of the Heavenly Flame. She watched Xiao Fan approach it, expecting him to be incinerated, only to see him absorb most of its energy with ease. 24 25

When discovered, Medusa refused Xiao Fan's demand that she become his handmaiden. She fought him repeatedly but was decisively defeated and severely injured. Faced with his overwhelming strength, she submitted and accepted his offer to help her cross the Dou Huang bottleneck. 25

Using the remaining Green Lotus Core Flame, Medusa underwent an evolution into the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python. Her queenly consciousness faded, and the small python was named Xiao Cai by Xiao Fan. 26

After awakening in human form, Medusa retained an instinctive closeness to Xiao Fan due to her connection with Xiao Cai. She initially tried to negotiate for the Heaven Swallowing Technique, but ultimately acknowledged him as her master. After cultivating the technique and fusing her soul with Xiao Cai, she became a two-star Dou Zong. 36 37

Upon returning to her tribe, Medusa discovered that she had been expelled and that another figure occupied her throne. Following Xiao Fan's subjugation of the tribe, she executed the resisting Snake-People at his signal and resumed control. The tribe was later renamed the Demon Division and incorporated into Xiao Fan's Heavenly Court. 38 40 41

As queen, Medusa is proud, cold, decisive, and accustomed to absolute authority. Her initial refusal to serve Xiao Fan stems from both her dignity as the Snake-People's ruler and her hostility toward being subordinated to a human. 25

She is also ruthless when acting as leader. After returning to her tribe, she kills the Snake-People who resisted Xiao Fan's authority, declaring that those who offended her master would receive a swift death. 40

Following her evolution and soul fusion with Xiao Cai, Medusa develops a conflicted but increasingly sincere attachment to Xiao Fan. Her former aggression softens into loyalty, gratitude, admiration, and longing, though she remains aware of the humiliation and power imbalance involved in her submission. 36 37 47 63
