Sui Bian fixed his gaze on a white USS operative, roughly forty years old, with dark brown hair and an unremarkable, common face.
This ordinary-looking, slightly stout USS operative was none other than the legendary "Grim Reaper," Hunk.
Hunk's real name was just as plain: Hunkins Thomas.
Sui Bian surmised that this most reliable of USS operatives had chosen the codename "Hunk" simply by picking the easier-to-pronounce portion of "Hunkins."
[Anomaly detected.]
???
Just as Sui Bian was secretly observing Hunk, the system suddenly chimed in his mind:
[Subject: Hunkins Thomas.
Nickname: Hunk.
Description:
The subject possesses reaction speeds far exceeding those of an ordinary person, is proficient in various forms of physical combat and martial arts, and possesses strength far beyond that of a normal human.
When pushed into a desperate situation, the subject may even tap into latent potential, pushing their physical limits to the absolute human threshold.]
Is this really considered an anomaly? Sui Bian mused to himself.
On second thought... weren't the protagonists in those games also anomalies?
Especially Leon and Chris.
One was "Leon."
The other was "Chris."
Those two are definitely anomalies, Sui Bian concluded firmly.
At this moment, the thirty-six USS operatives in the warehouse had already donned their bulletproof vests, tactical belts, gear pouches, black masks, and Kevlar helmets, with binocular night-vision goggles mounted on top.
Magazines were loaded with subsonic rounds, and suppressors were attached to their respective firearms—though some operatives' MP5 SDs did not require secondary suppressor installation.
Their iconic red-eyed "octopus" gas masks were hooked onto their side or rear waists.
Although this mission was directed only at Birkin and Wesker and did not require facing bio-organic threats directly, they prepared for every contingency to be safe.
Having finished organizing their gear and weapons, the thirty-six USS operatives left the square table and gathered in front of the whiteboard, ready to act upon Sui Bian's orders.
Hunk and the captain of Omicron stood at the very front of the group.
As the sounds of loading magazines and adjusting weapons ceased, the warehouse fell instantly silent.
You could hear a pin drop.
Seeing this, Sui Bian cleared his throat with a light cough, his right hand balled into a fist, to ease the "chilly" atmosphere. After a moment of silence, he spoke to the USS operatives in a deliberately low, authoritative voice:
"I have gathered you all here in Raccoon City because I need you, the employees most loyal to the company, to assist me in dealing with two traitors who harbor ulterior motives."
No sooner had Sui Bian finished speaking than a white screen rolled down from the ceiling above the warehouse. Once it was fully unfurled, the warehouse lights were extinguished one by one.
Immediately after, the projector hanging in the center of the warehouse "automatically" turned on, casting the necessary slides onto the screen and bathing the darkened warehouse in light once more.
The slides displayed the portraits of William Birkin and Albert Wesker, accompanied by brief dossiers on both men.
A few seconds later, the slides switched, showing the USS operatives the blueprints and floor plans of the Hive beneath Raccoon City.
On the floor plan for the second level, an employee bedroom in the far southeast corner was clearly marked with a red circle.
A red arrow pointed toward that bedroom, and at the tail of the arrow, the name "William Birkin" was written in bold red font.
Sui Bian continued in his practiced, bureaucratic tone: "William Birkin, director of the Raccoon City Hive facility, has been confirmed to be colluding in secret with Derek C. Simmons of the U.S. military.
Currently, William Birkin, along with his wife and daughter, Annette Birkin and Sherry Birkin, are inside their living quarters.
To ensure control over the Hive, the virus samples, and the data, I have already sent 'someone' to implement a total lockdown of the Hive, restricting the movement of all personnel inside and releasing sleeping gas."
At this point, Sui Bian focused his gaze on Hunk. "Captain, I need you and your team to use the tunnel on the southern outskirts of the city to drive into the Hive.
Once inside, your Alpha team will have the highest level of access, and 'someone' will assist you via comms to secure all personnel in the shortest time possible.
One final point: you must ensure the safety of the Birkin family at all costs.
Move out."
"Yes, sir." Hunk replied without a moment's hesitation, then turned and led his team toward the warehouse exit.
Previously.
The "person" Sui Bian referred to was none other than the Red Queen.
While she projected the slideshow for Sui Bian, she simultaneously locked down the Hive and released gas.
This maneuver was remarkably similar to the "Red Queen" from the movie version of Resident Evil 1, who released gas within the Hive to prevent the T-Virus from leaking.
However, the Red Queen's intent was "hypnosis," whereas the movie's Red Queen had intended "slaughter."
The Birkin family, who had been under the Red Queen's secret surveillance, were now in a state of deep sleep, fundamentally preventing William from falling into an agitated state due to the G-Virus and meeting his end by being shot by Alpha Team.
After Alpha Team departed, the projector's slideshow continued to display information regarding Albert Wesker to Omicron.
This included his superior combat and marksmanship skills, his extreme vigilance, and so on.
Immediately following this, the slideshow displayed Wesker's address, the floor he resided on, and a detailed floor plan of his apartment.
Finally, the apartment floor plan featured a red circle marking Wesker's primary range of activity within the unit.
At this point, Sui Bian swept his gaze across the members of Omicron present, his expression appearing quite grave as he said:
"Gentlemen, Albert Wesker is a test subject from the company's classified 'Wesker Project,' but the target has already colluded with external forces in secret. Given the target's unique nature, I will be joining you on this operation to ensure the target is completely incapacitated and stripped of any threat."
At this moment, Wesker had not yet injected the special virus Birkin had created for him, nor had he undergone his staged death; he did not yet possess his heaven-defying abilities.
But...
That was Wesker.
One of the most formidable bosses in gaming history.
To ensure there were no slip-ups, Sui Bian had to personally participate in this operation; after all, based on "paper data," his physical fitness was at the absolute limit of human capability.
"This..." Upon hearing this, the captain of Omicron, who once held the rank of Lieutenant, said with some hesitation:
"Sir, wouldn't that be too dangerous for you? You only need to wait patiently; Omicron never makes mistakes when we strike."
There was actually a deeper meaning behind the Lieutenant's words:
Please don't get in the way, sir. If we in Omicron can't handle it, wouldn't you just be throwing your life away by going?
Sui Bian could certainly hear it.
He merely chuckled softly: "Rest assured, I will not be directly participating in the assault. Let's go."
With that, he walked toward the exit of the warehouse.
"Yes, sir."
Seeing that Sui Bian remained insistent, the Lieutenant had no choice but to nod in agreement, ceasing his attempts to dissuade him, and led his men to follow Sui Bian out of the warehouse.
