The burly man in front of them had surrendered so readily.
Even Luca and Shamira exchanged baffled looks.
In fact, when the two of them had followed the man by car all the way to this remote pier, they had been worried that a major battle might break out.
Even before they stopped the car, Shamira had been thinking about how to persuade her young master to back down.
Who could have guessed that only after Luca put on the Tracking Glasses and used thermal imaging to scout the warehouse did they discover that the enormous place was guarded by only four men.
After a quick discussion, the two of them decided they might as well go all in and "storm" the place.
As a result, the four unlucky men posted around the warehouse hadn't even managed to make a sound before Shamira had quietly taken them all out.
The burly, bearded man who seemed to be the enemy's leader was now the last remaining threat Luca could see through his thermal imaging.
However, despite the man in front of him appearing so cooperative, even ready to confess everything, Luca paid him no attention.
Instead, he walked straight past the burly man, who sat there with his hands raised, too afraid to move, and went to the wooden door behind him.
He gently pushed the door open.
Inside was a man whose hands and feet were tightly bound. He was lying on the floor, wriggling as he tried to inch toward the door.
Luca bent down slightly and crouched, looking at the man whose mouth was sealed with duct tape.
The once-transparent lenses of his half-rim glasses were suddenly covered in a bright white glare, perhaps from the reflection of the light, making it impossible to see his eyes.
"My dear uncle, is this the business partner you found?"
Yes, the man in front of him, bound up so tightly that he looked every bit like a captive, was Luca's uncle in name only, Dragan.
It was also because he had spotted "Dragan" using thermal imaging that Luca had ignored the bearded man in the outer room and come straight in.
"Oh, my mistake. Looks like you can't talk like this~"
As he spoke, the smile at the corner of Luca's mouth never faded. He reached toward the man's face and abruptly ripped off the duct tape covering Dragan's mouth.
"Rip!"
A sharp sound rang out.
Then came a series of pained cries from Dragan.
Seeing a few stray beard hairs still stuck to the tape, Luca flicked his hand in disgust and tossed it aside.
"Luca! Luca! You have to believe me. I didn't do any of those things. It was Kingpin! That bastard forced me. I'm your uncle, for God's sake. Why would I send people to assassinate you?!"
As soon as Dragan was able to speak, he forced himself through the burning pain on his face and began pleading and explaining in a tearful voice.
Tears and snot smeared his face, and his expression was horribly twisted.
But Luca showed no sympathy at all. If anything, he stepped back in even greater disgust.
Even though his right hand was a mechanical prosthetic made by Stark, Luca still didn't want any nasty filth getting on it.
However, Dragan's words made the amused look behind Luca's glasses turn serious.
Earlier, when he'd learned that the warehouse held only a few gangsters, that Dragan himself had been tied up there, and that the place wasn't even in Hell's Kitchen, Luca had thought his earlier suspicions were just a bias born from watching Marvel movies. Maybe Kingpin really had nothing to do with this, and it had all been his imagination.
Once he dealt with the people in front of him, he could go back to living without a care.
He hadn't expected Dragan to expose the real mastermind the moment he opened his mouth.
Damn, this isn't going to be that easy after all! Luca cursed inwardly, but kept his face impassive.
Seeing Luca's expressionless face, Dragan grew even more terrified and hurried to beg for mercy.
"Luca, for your mother Gina's sake, let me off this once! It's all Kingpin's fault. He came to me and told me to fight you for the company. And Barton was the one who sent people to kill you. If you want revenge, go after him!"
But as soon as he finished speaking, before Luca could even react, the bearded man outside, who had been quietly waiting for his "judgment," suddenly started cursing at the top of his lungs.
"Bullshit! Dragan, you bastard! You were the one who came to me and said we should pull this job! And didn't you screw Kingpin over too? What the hell are you pretending to be innocent for? You filthy gutter rat! Rat! You son of a bitch!"
Listening to the unending stream of curses from outside, Luca finally relaxed his expression. His look of amusement returned as he stared intently into Dragan's eyes.
"Oh? Then I take it he's the Barton you mentioned?"
"My dear uncle, it looks like you weren't telling me the truth, were you?"
Faced with Luca's unruffled demeanor, Dragan panicked. He tried to explain, but Luca stepped on his head to shut him up.
Leaving Dragan on the floor to rack his brains over how to hide the truth, Luca stood up and gave Baymax an order from the doorway.
"Baymax, take that bearded man outside and restrain him in the open area of the warehouse. Don't let him escape, and don't let him speak."
At that, Baymax, who had been standing in the outer room staring blankly at the cobwebs on the ceiling, immediately straightened to attention.
"Baymax understands." (●-●)
Baymax then took short, quick steps over to the burly man named Barton. He covered the bearded man's mouth with one large hand and gripped his shoulder firmly with the other.
"Hello. I'm taking you outside now. Please don't struggle violently, or you may get hurt." (●-●)
After saying this, Baymax ignored the man's struggles and simply dragged him out of the room, then positioned him in the open area of the warehouse.
Baymax's powerful grip was like an iron shackle weighing a thousand pounds. No matter how Barton struggled, he couldn't budge an inch. In the end, he could only stand there, limp with exhaustion, like a dead fish washed ashore.
Seeing Baymax had Barton under control, Shamira thought for a moment, then put away her gun and entered the room.
"Young master, I can handle the interrogation."
After speaking, Shamira glanced at Dragan on the floor with distaste, then walked straight behind Luca and fell silent, like a stone statue guarding him.
"All right, now that everyone else is out of the way, it's time for you to answer a few questions, Uncle."
"But if your answers don't match Barton's, I imagine someone is bound to be punished for it~"
