"Northwest, target neutralized!"
"Northeast, target neutralized!"
A series of kill reports echoed through the communication channel. In the blink of an eye, every sentry on the watchtowers had been picked off by Longbow one by one.
"Good work. Keep providing cover as we advance."
Dun Shan, who had just finished cutting through the wire fence, offered only a perfunctory word of praise.
They were teammates who had executed countless missions together, so Dun Shan was entirely unsurprised by Longbow's ability to eliminate targets so rapidly.
"Wolf Spider, Green Bull, we're taking out the external patrols first. Wrench, report the situation and keep an eye on the enemies inside the building."
With that, Dun Shan took the lead, stepping inside the perimeter. He lowered his muzzle slightly and moved quickly along the exterior of the building.
"Two enemies at 10 o'clock," Wrench reported quickly through the headset.
Dun Shan and the other two raised their rifles in unison.
"Rat-tat-tat—"
"Thirty meters ahead, around the corner, three targets."
"Rat-tat-tat—"
Crisp gunfire rang out intermittently. By the time Shamira and Longbow teamed up to snipe the two gangsters at the main gate guard post, only seven or eight minutes had passed.
"External enemies all cleared! Thresh, bring the young master and follow behind us."
"Re... received!"
Thresh glanced awkwardly at Luca, who was focused intently on the distant building, and called out in a low voice.
"Young Master Luca, the captain says we should follow."
Luca nodded slightly at the words, then followed along with Baymax.
However, Luca was already quite satisfied with this squad.
Although Shamira's strong recommendation had given him a rough idea that this team's strength was not to be underestimated, seeing them complete their tactical objectives so cleanly and efficiently made him hold them in even higher regard.
Perhaps I should consider getting some stronger black-tech gadgets for Inverted-A Squad later, Luca thought to himself.
Of course, that was a matter for another time.
As for the present, Luca didn't even have a clue how to replicate black-tech items, let alone synthesize them.
Meanwhile, Dun Shan and his team, having wiped out all the enemies outside the building, didn't wait for Luca and the others to catch up after reloading. Instead, they continued to communicate with Wrench over the headset.
"Wrench, give me an entry point into the building."
"There are no guards or patrols at the small window on the southeast side. You can try entering from there; it shouldn't be too... Wait! Someone's coming!"
Inside the news van in the distance, Wrench, who was confirming the entry route for Dun Shan's team, caught a glimpse of a black sedan slowly driving toward the main entrance of the building on one of the surveillance feeds.
"Black Mercedes S600, bulletproof model. It will reach the main gate in ten seconds."
Dun Shan, who had already left the guard post, felt a chill run down his spine.
Since the objective was to wipe out the enemy entirely, they hadn't bothered to dispose of the bodies. The moment that black Mercedes pulled up to the guard post, the driver would immediately realize something was wrong.
Furthermore, Dun Shan knew that specific Mercedes model; it was a VR7-rated armored vehicle. Even if three or five grenades exploded simultaneously, it wouldn't pose a threat to it.
Dun Shan made a split-second decision and issued an order to everyone.
"Green Bull, plant explosives at the main warehouse entrance. Longbow, keep your eyes on that car. The moment someone opens the door, neutralize the target immediately!"
"Everyone, prepare for a forced entry!"
At this point, Dun Shan didn't care if the arrivals were Kingpin's associates or subordinates, or if he might accidentally hurt an innocent person.
In the dead of night, anyone driving a bulletproof sedan to visit someone like Kingpin could only blame their own bad luck if they were sniped by Longbow.
By the time he finished giving the order, the black Mercedes was already nearing the outer main gate.
However, perhaps having sensed something, the Mercedes slammed on its brakes and didn't move another inch.
Just as everyone watched with bated breath, the voices of Wrench and Luca rang out in the headset simultaneously.
"There's movement inside the building! We've been exposed!"
"Six people are rushing toward the main warehouse entrance!"
Dun Shan realized immediately that the people in the car had noticed the anomaly outside and alerted those inside.
He didn't have time to gamble on whether the occupants of the VR7-rated armored vehicle would step out voluntarily. He tapped Green Bull beside him and gave the order.
"Green Bull! Detonate the explosives!"
Green Bull received the order with a savage grin and pressed the button in his hand.
Immediately after.
"BOOM—"
A deafening explosion roared, and a massive, orange-red fireball filled everyone's vision.
The luxurious gates of the warehouse building were instantly blown to smithereens.
The flying debris from the shattered gate tore through the six enemies who had been attempting to rush out from the room behind it.
Just as everyone's ears were still ringing from the violent explosion, Wrench's voice roared through the earpiece once again.
"That car is starting up! He's going to ram his way into the building!!"
Dun Shan, his nose and throat still filled with the acrid scent of gunpowder, didn't need a second to think before he understood the enemy's intent.
"He's trying to force his way in to grab the target and escape!"
Although it was unclear why this car had appeared so coincidentally at this moment, the intent to rescue Kingpin could not have been more obvious.
Dun Shan immediately bellowed.
"Charge! Stop him!!"
With that, Dun Shan raised his carbine, bolted from cover, and sprinted toward the black Mercedes.
While it was unlikely that his rifle alone could pierce the vehicle's armor, he could ensure that the enemy would neither be able to enter nor leave that Mercedes.
However, just as he raised his weapon to charge forward—
A dark shadow lunged out from the distance, planting itself directly in the path of the oncoming Mercedes.
The next instant.
"THUD—"
A dull, violent sound of impact echoed out.
The shadow blocking the front of the Mercedes was not sent flying; instead, it gripped the hood of the car tightly with both arms, its feet carving two deep furrows into the solid concrete.
Though the figure was forced backward, it had managed to bring the Mercedes's momentum to a dead halt.
The screech of tires against the ground rang out incessantly, and the white smoke and burnt smell from the friction quickly filled the air, yet the vehicle could not advance a single inch further.
"Holy shit! That's Agent Baymax!" Green Bull exclaimed from beside him.
Even Dun Shan was momentarily stunned.
But the next moment.
A dense rain of bullets, accompanied by wild, manic laughter, instantly poured down upon the immobilized Mercedes.
The bald, muscular man in the distance, wielding an M249 SAW, held the trigger down firmly, his steps steady as he closed in on the Mercedes bit by bit.
"Hahahaha—die! Die! Hahahaha—all of you, go to hell!!"
Thresh shrieked and laughed maniacally, the muzzle flash of his weapon never faltering for a second.
Despite the fact that the light machine gun, paired with its 200-round ammunition box, weighed over 10 kilograms—not to mention the immense recoil from continuous fire—it remained as steady as a rock in Thresh's hands.
He ignored the waterfall of shell casings dancing rapidly before his eyes.
Dense bullet holes were spread evenly across the side of the black Mercedes, not a single one grazing Baymax as he held the vehicle back.
It was then that Luca, following close beside Thresh, raised his [Dominator].
His lips parted slightly.
"Activate, Destruction Decomposer Mode!"
