Background / History
Service on Sea God Island
Bo Saixi spends more than a century guarding Sea God Island and waiting for the Sea God’s inheritor. Her eventual duty is to sacrifice her life and cultivation to enable that successor’s ascension. Although she initially describes abandoning her post for personal enjoyment as betrayal and blasphemy, she privately resents being reduced to nourishment for someone she has never met 245 468.
Qian Daoliu repeatedly appears in her dreams, talking about Maple Dye Pavilion, Lin Feng, and restaurant lotteries. She initially suspects a cultivation problem; as his visits become more persistent, she begins kicking him out of her dreams. When he arrives on the island in person, she briefly assumes she is dreaming again 105 237.
Qian Daoliu’s Recruitment Attempt
Qian Daoliu proposes that she join Maple Dye Pavilion’s security staff. Bo Saixi considers the offer insulting, particularly the suggestion that she serve as deputy captain, and attacks him with her mithril scepter 238 239.
The confrontation escalates when she releases her martial soul and summons a projection of the Sea God Trident. She quickly defeats Qian Daoliu, who is exhausted from his journey, fighting on her territory, and missing his Angel Holy Sword. His defeat does not stop him from following her through the temple and repeating his invitation 240 241.
His egg fried rice proves more persuasive than his arguments. When a jade bowl breaks, Bo Saixi knocks Sea Witch aside and precisely catches every falling grain with soul power. Qian Daoliu’s refusal to surrender his remaining rice then provokes a genuine death threat, forcing him to flee 244 245.
Fabricating Sea Witch’s Defection
Unable to forget the rice but unwilling to openly abandon her duties, Bo Saixi grants Sea Witch extended leave to visit the continent. Half an hour later, she announces that the same subordinate has defected after being beguiled by Qian Daoliu 245.
She rejects Sea Dragon Douluo’s offer to retrieve Sea Witch, arguing that only she can safely confront a Peerless Douluo. This manufactured emergency gives her a reason to leave Sea God Island personally, though the Sacred Pillar guardians immediately suspect something is wrong 246.
Bo Saixi reaches Maple Dye Pavilion and maintains that she is hunting a traitor, despite visibly fixating on the egg fried rice. Sea Witch is absent, leaving her briefly worried that her subordinate has become lost on the journey 261 262.
Becoming a Restaurant Guard
After eating four bowls of egg fried rice, Bo Saixi struggles with the prospect of returning to her former diet and duties. Lin Feng’s reward raises her divine power affinity by 5%; Qian Daoliu explains that reaching full affinity could let her inherit godhood herself. She begins pursuing power as a means of escaping her sacrificial fate 264.
Bo Saixi expands her cover story, claiming Sea Witch’s supposed schemes threaten relations between Sea God Island and Spirit Hall and require a prolonged investigation in Spirit City. Lin Feng accepts her application as a restaurant guard and grants her two meals a day 265 266.
When Sea Horse Douluo comes looking for her, she hides behind Qian Daoliu and disguises her voice, fearing an order to return. After learning that he was sent only to check her safety, she resumes her authoritative persona and repeats the traitor-hunting explanation 293. She later helps tempt Sea Star Douluo with the restaurant’s food, reversing his determination to take her home 374 376.
Breaking with the Sea God
Bo Saixi’s faith collapses after the Rakshasa God exposes the Sea God’s malicious interference in Qian Renxue’s godhood trial. Feeling that her priestly robes have become tainted, she instinctively grasps Qian Daoliu’s clothing for reassurance 406.
Despite her disillusionment, she offers to bear responsibility for the Sea God’s wrongdoing as his final High Priestess, calling this her farewell to the role. She subsequently tells Sea Spear and Sea Ghost Douluo that she is no longer High Priestess and has severed her connection to the Sea God 407 415.
Her continued absence, along with that of the other Sacred Pillar guardians who leave the island, eventually drives Sea Dragon and Sea Illusion Douluo to seek divine intervention. The Sea God initially refuses to believe she could betray him, then begins suspecting that she has taken his followers elsewhere 465 468 469.
Ascension and Later Actions
Bo Saixi reaches 100% divine power affinity but realizes that, unlike Qian Daoliu’s available Angel God position, her desired position still belongs to a living deity. She fears that her former master will never approve her inheritance now that she follows Lin Feng 488 489.
Lin Feng answers by summoning the Sea God Trident from more than ten thousand miles away and handing it to her. The artifact immediately resonates with her, despite her previous inability to move it. He then pulls the Sea God down from the God Realm 490. Bo Saixi prevents her former subordinates from reverting to worship of him and subsequently becomes the new Sea God 490 491 492.
She later joins the defense of Maple Dye Pavilion against the Asura God, wielding nine water dragons around herself. Using her trident, she also projects a vast water screen over Sea God Island; Sea Dragon and Sea Illusion recognize her newly attained godhood through the broadcast 540 547 548.
Appearance
- Hair and eyes: Long, sea-blue hair, described as wavy in her dream appearance and cascading like a waterfall later; matching sea-blue eyes 105 265.
- Build and bearing: Tall, curvaceous, and exceptionally beautiful, with a noble presence that seems to merge with the surrounding sea 105 237 293.
- Priestly clothing: Usually appears in luxurious sea-blue gowns or robes; red robes also symbolize her High Priestess identity during her crisis of faith 238 293 406.
- Ascended form: Azure goddess battle robes and streamlined armor form during her ascension 492.
- Later attire: Appears in a long white dress, holding a sea-blue trident with a divine ring visible behind her 548.
Personality
Bo Saixi’s public manner is composed, dignified, and commanding. Provocation—especially Qian Daoliu’s persistent recruitment—can break that restraint, producing furious outbursts and ferocious attacks without diminishing the elegance of her movements 237 238 239.
Her appetite exposes a calculating and sometimes ruthless side. She knowingly frames the loyal Sea Witch, suppresses her guilt, and intimidates subordinates who question her story. Yet her desire to remain at the restaurant is not only indulgence: it becomes inseparable from her determination to escape a lifetime ending in compulsory sacrifice 245 246 264.
After learning of the Sea God’s wrongdoing, she shows responsibility rather than merely denying her former allegiance. She offers to answer for his sins before formally renouncing her office. Her growing partnership with Qian Daoliu also reveals vulnerability, affection, and a willingness to rely on someone she once treated chiefly as a nuisance 406 407 424 438.
