Background / History
Shiomiya is a branch-family member of the Shinomiya Family. His exceptional intellect helped the family expand its assets, leaving him with considerable influence despite not belonging to its main line. He eventually became bored, left behind a development plan, and withdrew from further involvement. His parents died in an accident, further weakening his sense of purpose. 1 5
At age three, Shiomiya received a system and its beginner gift pack. The gifted Wise Puppet talent made him an extraordinary learner, but also left him increasingly detached from the world and driven by status and duty. The system then remained dormant for years. 1
As a child, he pursued increasingly destructive experiments out of boredom, including playing with weapons, setting fires, and blasting open a mountain. The Shinomiya and Koenji families concealed these incidents; no casualties occurred. 2
Shiomiya grew up alongside Koenji Rokusuke. After the pair were bullied during their first week of elementary school, Shiomiya led Koenji through combat training and then helped him defeat bullies across the school. Their reputation prevented further bullying for the rest of their seven years there. 9
He transferred schools in middle school, partly because he recognized that Koenji’s developing physical gifts had surpassed his own. He avoids explaining what happened during that period. 4 9
Appearance
Shiomiya is a young man whose chronic condition can leave him looking visibly haggard.
- His hair has white ends. 7
- He wears Hope's Peak Academy’s school uniform. 1
- During episodes, his world loses color and becomes grayscale; Kushida remains the sole vividly colored figure in his perception. 1 4
- On an outing with Kushida, he changes from his uniform into a simple black hoodie and casual pants, which make him appear more relaxed than usual. 54
Personality
Shiomiya is intensely curious about exceptional people and considers observing and categorizing them his main pastime. Ordinary people bore him, while unusual behavior, secrets, and conflict entertain him. He records notable people in his diary under provisional observation-file titles. 2 3 6
He is sarcastic, arrogant, and highly unconcerned with public opinion. Like Koenji, he is narcissistic and enjoys asserting dominance, though he mocks Koenji for the same trait. 1 4
Shiomiya is also manipulative and opportunistic. He exploits Kamuro’s shoplifting, Sakayanagi’s blackmail attempt, and Yamada Anna’s social anxiety to gain leverage or information. 5 7
Despite his detachment, he is emotionally unstable. Interruptions while he regulates his breathing can trigger episodes and uncontrolled outbursts. His developing emotions and inability to express them become especially painful after he gains the ability to play piano with feeling. 1 4 14
After struggling to paint a self-portrait, Shiomiya accepts that observing other people and finding amusement in their behavior is fundamental to his identity. He nevertheless develops greater self-awareness, including regret over his treatment of Yamada Anna. 18 49
His strengthened analytical ability initially makes ordinary life less enjoyable by forcing him to process every detail around him. He resolves this by filtering immediate information and placing the remainder into a mental “memory palace” for later analysis. 19
Abilities & Skills

- He struggles with the realization that talent alone has not changed his inner emptiness. 14
- Sings “Heroes’ Song” for Kushida in a KTV room. 57
Ultimate Art Club Member
Ultimate Art Club Member gives Shiomiya technical painting ability, sharper visual observation, better hand control, and imagination beyond merely replicating existing works. 11

- Begins to identify and accept a more personal artistic style. 19
Ultimate Soldier
Ultimate Soldier grants Shiomiya military knowledge and significantly enhances his body beyond the improvements supplied by Ultimate Fighter. 19
- Possesses knowledge related to combat, firearms, tactical analysis, and military operations. 19
- Gains enhanced reflexes, bone density, muscle strength, and sensory awareness. 19
- Becomes especially sensitive to surveillance and realizes that three Class C attackers likely intend to record their confrontation. 28
- Relies on superior reaction speed and evasion against professional boxer Yae Ogami, although her physical power still exceeds what he can endure directly. 49
Ultimate Analyst
Ultimate Analyst causes Shiomiya to unconsciously collect, integrate, and analyze information at an extraordinary rate. 19
- Predicts Yamauchi Haruki’s exact next line and movement from prior behavioral data. 19

- Locates Horikita Suzune in the library through deduction when Kushida orders him to introduce them. 20
- Identifies Ryuuen as the most likely source of rumors concerning his sales of school information. 27

Super High School-Level Fortune Teller and Swimmer
Shiomiya obtains Super High School-Level Fortune Teller and Super High School-Level Swimmer in the same draw as Magician. 50

Relationships
- Koenji Rokusuke — Childhood acquaintance, rival, and training partner. They grew up together, dominated their elementary school through fighting, and retain a competitive but caring bond. They resume morning training at the academy, although Koenji’s endurance remains superior. 1 9 10
- Kushida Kikyo — Former middle-school acquaintance with a volatile, deeply entangled relationship. She initially wants him expelled because he knows too much about her, while he is drawn to her unmasked personality and repeatedly becomes emotionally vulnerable around her. After exploiting ambiguous evidence from their night together to make him comply with her demands, Kushida publicly frames him as an unwanted pursuer; their dynamic later develops into an increasingly intimate but unstable relationship, including dates and mutual displays of affection. 3 4 14 17 18 53 57
- Sakayanagi Arisu — Class A student, chess rival, and information-trading partner. Shiomiya outmaneuvers her during the Kamuro incident, defeats her in chess, and sells her information regarding hidden rules and point distribution. 5 6 12 13

Her hurt feelings lead her friend Yae Ogami to confront him, prompting Shiomiya to express remorse and apologize. 7 8 49
- Ryuuen Kakeru — Class C opponent defeated by Shiomiya during the grove brawl. Shiomiya later sells him academy information, suspects him of spreading rumors against him, and is targeted by Class C students in apparent retaliation. 10 22 27 28
- Horikita Suzune — Class D classmate whose reaction to Student Council President Horikita Manabu leads Shiomiya to begin observing her. He later assists Kushida’s attempt to apologize to Horikita, though Horikita remains wary of both of them. 3 20 30
- Ayanokoji Kiyotaka — Class D classmate whom Shiomiya initially observes as an unusual and difficult-to-read person. Shiomiya later blackmails him with knowledge of the White Room, then works with him during the effort to have Class C withdraw its accusations. 23 35
