"Blue Silver Grass, a useless Martial Soul!"
Su Yuntao stood atop the platform in Holy Soul Village's Spirit Hall and said indifferently, "Next!"
Nine children stood before Su Yuntao.
Among them was a boy with healthy wheat-colored skin, plainly dressed, with black hair and black eyes. His deep eyes resembled stars in the night sky.
The boy was six years old. According to the traditions of Douluo Continent, it was time for him to awaken his Martial Soul.
Of the nine children present, the boy knew that besides himself, Tang San at his side was also a transmigrator.
"Blue Silver Grass, a useless Martial Soul!"
"Uncle, you haven't tested my Soul Power yet!"
As Su Yuntao presided over the ceremony, he did not see the lightning-wreathed hammer in Tang San's left palm behind his back.
Should Tang San's secret of possessing Twin Martial Souls be exposed now?
The boy was not that stupid.
Knowing Tang San was blessed with great fortune and favored by the Asura God, yet still targeting him, was like an old man eating arsenic—courting death.
Su Yuntao and Tang San's conversation continued from up ahead.
"There's no need to test it. I've never seen anyone who awakened Blue Silver Grass as their Martial Soul possess Innate Soul Power."
"Uncle, please test it. Testing my Soul Power won't take much of your time."
"Fine, then we'll test it!"
At Tang San's insistence, Su Yuntao waved his hand, and a blue crystal ball was carried by Soul Power and presented before Tang San.
Tang San placed his palm on the crystal ball, which burst forth with dazzling light.
"Innate Full Soul Power!" Su Yuntao exclaimed.
As expected, Tang San possessed Innate Full Soul Power.
"Alright, next!"
"Uncle, you haven't told me how to obtain Spirit Rings or how to absorb them."
"To obtain a Spirit Ring, you need to hunt Soul Beasts. That's something only Spirit Masters can do. You should go down now. Don't waste everyone else's time. Next!"
Tang San could tell that Su Yuntao was becoming impatient, so he obediently returned to the boy's side.
The boy's name was Lin Hao.
He was not from this world.
In his previous life, he had been scrolling Douyin while crossing the street when a vehicle ran a red light. Then... there was no then. By sheer luck, he had arrived in Douluo Continent.
Six years!
It had already been six years.
During those six years, there was no internet, no Douyin to scroll through, and no chicken dinners to play. And Dark Tide, which he had developed to ninety-nine percent progress, had never been completed.
He had lived on the technologically backward Douluo Continent for six years. Throughout those six years, Lin Hao had constantly wondered about his Martial Soul.
Every day, besides training, Lin Hao thought about how to develop his Martial Soul. Even if his Martial Soul turned out to be a pile of shit, he was confident he could develop it into an incredibly powerful weapon.
Lin Hao glanced at Tang San, who had returned to his place.
He was different from Tang San.
Tang San's parents were alive, while Lin Hao's had died long ago.
Old Jack, who had adopted him, said that his father had been a teacher. When famine struck his hometown, his parents fled and ended up in Holy Soul Village.
His parents had starved to death at the entrance to Holy Soul Village.
When Old Jack arrived, he said Lin Hao's heart had clearly stopped beating, yet he had miraculously come back to life.
The name Lin Hao was what his mother had told Old Jack before she died.
Other than that, Lin Hao knew nothing about his own background.
A child's Martial Soul was inherited from one or both parents.
"What Martial Soul will I awaken, then?"
Lin Hao stepped into the formation made of six jade stones.
Since he knew nothing about his parents, he had no idea what Martial Soul he was about to awaken.
As the formation activated, a warm sensation seeped from the surface of his body into his body.
Lin Hao felt as though some kind of shackle within him had been broken.
Su Yuntao said, "Don't space out. Hold out your right hand."
Lin Hao did as he was told and extended his right hand.
Su Yuntao sent another strand of Soul Power into the jade stones.
Gray light flickered in Lin Hao's palm, and a gray sheet of paper appeared out of thin air.
Before Lin Hao could get a good look at his Martial Soul, Su Yuntao immediately passed judgment.
"Paper, a useless Martial Soul!"
Lin Hao laughed silently.
What amused him was that blind Su Yuntao had judged his Martial Soul to be useless.
Any Martial Soul that Su Yuntao did not judge as useless was already half useless.
What left him speechless was that his Martial Soul really did seem to be a sheet of paper.
"A Talisman!" Tang San blurted out.
Su Yuntao looked at Tang San and asked, "What did you just say?"
Tang San lied, "Uncle, I didn't say anything. My throat was itchy, so I just made a sound."
In the world where the Tang Sect was located, things such as Talismans existed. That was why Tang San recognized at a glance that Lin Hao's Martial Soul was not a sheet of paper, but a Talisman.
Tang San was not sure whether Talismans existed on the Douluo Plane.
Anything related to his previous life was a secret Tang San desperately kept hidden in his heart.
Faced with Su Yuntao's question, Tang San could only lie.
Lin Hao looked at the Martial Soul in his palm again and thought, A Talisman?
After Tang San's reminder, Lin Hao shook his head slightly.
There were indeed some patterns on the paper, but they did not resemble the patterns of an ordinary Talisman. They felt more like a Star Map.
The faint patterns carried an ancient, archaic aura.
As Su Yuntao put away the jade stones, he said, "Alright, children, the awakening ceremony is over. You should leave now!"
Lin Hao raised his head slightly to look up at Su Yuntao. "Uncle, you haven't tested my Soul Power yet?"
"There's no need to test it. Even if a sheet of paper possesses Innate Soul Power, what can it do?" Su Yuntao did not believe a sheet of paper could be cultivated and evolve into anything formidable.
"Uncle, please test it. Testing my Soul Power won't take much of your time."
"Fine, since you insist, we'll test it." Su Yuntao noticed Tang San from the corner of his eye, looked at him, and smiled. "Who knows? Maybe we'll get another Innate Full Soul Power."
Not long ago, Tang San had said the same thing to Su Yuntao.
Innate Full Soul Power was one in ten thousand.
For one Holy Soul Village to produce two children with Innate Full Soul Power at once, Su Yuntao chuckled and shook his head. Unless he had a hole in his head, he would never believe in something as absurd as the sun rising in the west.
Su Yuntao walked up to Lin Hao, held the crystal ball out before him, and instructed, "Place your palm against the crystal ball!"
Lin Hao did as instructed and pressed his palm against the crystal ball.
Tang San stared intently at the crystal ball.
The crystal ball erupted with blinding light.
Su Yuntao was dumbfounded.
Tang San frowned slightly.
After a long while, Su Yuntao looked at Tang San, then at the crystal ball in his hand.
"How strange, child. You actually have Innate Full Soul Power too!"
