Background & History

Gu Yuena recuperated in an isolated space beneath the Lake of Life, assuming her massive silver-dragon true form beside a huge piece of the Gold of Life. Her wounds were inflicted by the Asura God's divine power while she fled the God Realm; the lingering power of slaughter, judgment, and destruction prevented them from healing naturally for hundreds of thousands of years. 21 22

When Di Tian brought Huo Yuhao before her, Gu Yuena sensed that his dragon bloodline surpassed even her own. Unable to identify its source, she concluded that he was descended from an ancient dragon race predating—or standing alongside—the Dragon God. She explained her theory of the shared Dragon God origin of soul beasts and martial souls, effectively providing Huo Yuhao with an identity he accepted publicly. 21 23

Recognizing Huo Yuhao's potential, Gu Yuena began investing in his growth. She gave him a substantial fragment of the Gold of Life, sought to build his attachment to the soul beast clan rather than burden him immediately with its leadership, and ordered Di Tian to bring the Sky Dream Iceworm so it could sacrifice itself to Huo Yuhao. 22 23

After Huo Yuhao developed the Soul Spirit System as a path of survival for soul beasts, Gu Yuena formally declared him the Soul Beast clan's “Matriarch,” equal in status to herself. She also supported his plans to use the Emperor Auspicious Beast's attribute induction and helped refine the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's Life Bead for his Eye of Fate evolution. 46 47

Gu Yuena accompanied Huo Yuhao into the human world as both protector and companion, remaining near him because she considered his safety essential. Her relationship with him later became romantic, and she increasingly focused on continuing their powerful bloodline. 37 125 126

After learning of the Asura God's influence and Huo Yuhao's plans against the God Realm, Gu Yuena sought to conceive a dragon-human child who could aid their future counterattack. She and Huo Yuhao successfully conceived while in dragon form; she then kept the egg in her Healing Space before moving it to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well to hasten its hatching. She is protective of Huo Yuhao, reacting with anger when he disappears inside the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's Life-Death Arena and personally maintaining a barrier around major cultivation disturbances. 42 44 Her protectiveness is intertwined with possessiveness: she resents women competing for Huo Yuhao's attention, although she ultimately accepts that expanding his bloodline serves their larger goal. 125 144 161
