Zhu Yu initially distinguished himself among mountain-opening apprentices through his understanding of the Basic Visualization Diagram. He and Xiang Sui arranged paid lectures, with Zhu Yu receiving half of the lecture fees, while Liang Kuan received a smaller intermediary share 6. He later taught fellow apprentices directly, explaining the Three-Ring Pattern’s inherent rhythm and helping Tong Xuan regain confidence in meditation 19.

After reaching Qi Refining, Zhu Yu continued to build resources through cultivation, teaching, corpse farming, and spirit-beast raising. He developed an increasingly intimidating Yin-cold aura, cultivated Starry Wood and Corpse Taro, and showed a consistent preference for caution and self-preservation—most clearly when he ignored Qi Yuanwu’s plea for aid near the Resentful Soul Pool 29 30.

Zhu Yu avoids wasting trump cards on ordinary gains, withdraws from dangerous opportunities once he has secured sufficient profit, and declines alliances or trades that do not serve his plans 50 100 251.
