History
Bai first meets Zhu Yu at a gathering held while Law Enforcement disciples dispose of a cultivator killed by the ghosts he had raised. Unlike several of the other attendees, Bai responds warmly, introduces himself as Zhu Yu's neighbor, and explains that the gathering is a customary “feast.” 32
Later, Bai rushes to inform Zhu Yu that a batch of corpse seeds has arrived at the Corpse Grotto. He rides Little Black with Zhu Yu to reach the site quickly and explains why Qingping Sect cultivators are particularly valuable corpse seeds: their dantian spiritual-power sources have been removed, lowering their purchase price despite their value as future living corpses. 41 42
Bai remains involved in Zhu Yu's corpse-puppet operations. He identifies Big Goblin corpse seeds as low-grade specimens with powerful but comparatively clumsy bodies, then uses a copper bell to inspect Zhu Yu's Purple-Veined Snake-Person living corpses after Zhu Yu withdraws his Corpse Control Art. 136
He also obtains a Dragon-Blooded Kobold Warrior corpse seed for Zhu Yu after appealing to his seventh grand-uncle. Bai explains that the corpse reached the Corpse Hall only because its bloodline and origin had already been drained. 137
Appearance
Bai is a stout, fair-skinned youth with a build comparable to Liang Kuan's. 32
Personality
Bai is approachable and cooperative toward Zhu Yu, readily sharing information about newly arrived corpse seeds and helping inspect cultivated corpses. 32 41 136
He is practical in matters of resources. When Zhu Yu's Starry Wood becomes valuable, Bai joins Xiang Sui and Liang Kuan in rejecting Zang Hai's attempt to monopolize its products, then proposes valuing the wood by comparison with pills of similar effect. 132 133
