Background

Konan is an orphan traveling with Yahiko and Nagato when she finds the injured Yuehua Ai in a cave and chooses to take him in despite the additional burden on the group. She introduces him to her companions and quickly becomes part of the group's effort to keep him safe and fed. 2 3

Before receiving formal ninja training, Konan helps the group survive through resourcefulness. During one food shortage, she and Nagato distract a fishmonger so Yahiko can steal a fish; later, she and Nagato obtain four protective suits needed to travel through the hazardous wilderness. 4 7
