Itachi Uchiha looked grave. He had thought the purpose of this trip was to protect his two younger brothers.
But what he had just witnessed was astonishing. Uchiha Sora was unbelievably ferocious!
That strange weapon in his hands could actually chase Gaara around.
And what was Gaara, exactly? He was Sunagakure's secret weapon for attacking Konoha.
At the very least, he was powerful enough to destroy a village. In modern terms, he was a nuclear weapon.
Yet now, a Genin was chasing him around so thoroughly that he couldn't fight back.
Even though Tailed Beast Mode had been forced out, and the monstrous creature before him should have been cause for alarm, Itachi Uchiha wasn't worried in the slightest.
For some reason, he just felt that Sora had a way to deal with this creature.
"With that confident look on his face, he should be fine, right?"
Itachi Uchiha hesitated.
"Itachi! Weren't you supposed to go protect your little brother? Want me to go in your place?"
Deidara was itching to get moving. He could hardly wait to meet his like-minded young friend.
"No need! It's only a Tailed Beast. He should be able to handle it!"
Itachi Uchiha fell silent for a moment, then suddenly spoke.
"What! Sora can handle it?"
Orochimaru was dumbfounded. His already enormous mouth gaped even wider.
What was going on? Wasn't he being a little too confident?
That was a Tailed Beast! Even if it was only the One-Tail, it was probably the weakest among the Tailed Beasts.
But that didn't mean a Genin could take it on!
The two of them weren't even in the same league.
It wasn't just Orochimaru. Hiruzen Sarutobi, standing nearby, also looked grave and couldn't help shouting in anger.
"Itachi Uchiha! That's your own little brother! You're sending him to his death!"
"Knowing you, I thought you came here for Sora and Sasuke. Why aren't you stepping in now?"
"Have you really gone mad? If those two die, you'll be the last member of the Uchiha Clan!"
That was the plain truth. Even Orochimaru and the Sunagakure ninja knew that Itachi was only there to make up the numbers.
He hadn't actually done anything. Standing there, he was little more than a prop.
His only purpose was to protect his younger brothers.
Otherwise, with Orochimaru and Deidara by his side, they could have held their own against even a Hokage, let alone the Five Kage.
They wouldn't have spent so long standing around.
As for Deidara, he was just like the Uchiha: there to make up the numbers, not to fight.
So, although their lineup looked impressive, it was no different from the original story.
Orochimaru was still the only one doing any real work.
But everyone, including Orochimaru, had been prepared for that from the start.
They figured that just showing their faces would be enough to intimidate plenty of people.
Orochimaru chuckled and glanced at Itachi Uchiha.
"Have you finally come to your senses? Are you cutting ties with them? That might be for the best. Then you'll have nothing left to worry about!"
"Why don't you help me kill that old man—"
Itachi Uchiha gave a cold snort and cut him off.
"Shut up! If you keep talking, I'll turn around and deal with you instead."
Orochimaru pursed his lips, but didn't dare say another word. He knew Itachi Uchiha was perfectly capable of making good on that threat.
Orochimaru turned around and formed Hand Seals. One fireball after another rained from the sky, hurtling toward Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"Hmph! Let's kill the old man first. We can deal with the rest afterward!"
"Besides, Konoha doesn't have many strong fighters right now. As long as I keep the old Hokage occupied, Shukaku alone can destroy the village!"
As he spoke, he continued forming Hand Seals. Thick vines, each as wide as a water barrel, burst from the ground.
They seemed almost alive, weaving between the fireballs as they rushed toward Hiruzen Sarutobi!
"Heh! Orochimaru, if you were the only one here today, the outcome would still be uncertain!"
As he spoke, Hiruzen Sarutobi bit his fingertip and drew two bloody streaks across his arm.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was anxious. A Tailed Beast had appeared in the village, and he couldn't stop it in time.
But he knew how difficult Orochimaru was to deal with.
He couldn't afford to be distracted, so all he could do was pray that Sora would perform a miracle.
Even Hiruzen Sarutobi couldn't understand why he thought a Genin could defeat a Tailed Beast.
It sounded absurd.
But after seeing Uchiha Sora produce one strange weapon after another, he couldn't help imagining that it might be possible.
He shook his head, then slammed his hand against the ground.
Bang!
A gray-white-haired ape appeared!
It was the unique summoning beast of Hiruzen Sarutobi's clan.
Like Jiraiya, the entire clan had signed a contract with Enma!
"Enma! We have to give it our all today. Protect the village and the children!"
Hiruzen Sarutobi gave a cold laugh. Despite his age, his hands were still powerful.
The black staff in his hands extended without end.
It grew to the size of a skyscraper and came crashing down on Orochimaru!
Enma roared. He moved like a bolt of white lightning, closing in behind Orochimaru alongside the Hokage.
His claws seemed capable of tearing through steel as he reached to seize Orochimaru by the head!
"Heh! It's no use! You're at the end of your rope today—"
Orochimaru grinned and took the full force of the attack.
His head exploded, and his body was crushed to pieces beneath the staff.
But a moment later, several small snakes emerged from the spot, writhing together until they formed a new Orochimaru.
Deidara looked disgusted as he watched.
"Just as I thought. No matter how many times I see it, this guy still creeps me out... Art is much more appealing!"
As he spoke, Deidara turned his head toward the battlefield below.
The enormous Shukaku now occupied nearly half the village square.
One of his eyes was as large as a house, and he stared fixedly at Uchiha Sora.
His mouth gaped open like a split in the mountains, its cavernous opening resembling a sheer cliff.
The wind gusting from within seemed powerful enough to sweep anyone off their feet.
Faced with such a monstrous creature, Uchiha Sora remained completely calm, standing there as if nothing were wrong.
He smiled faintly, took a few steps back, and pulled a golden-yellow bullet from his pocket.
A faint blue glow shone at its tip.
It looked weak. Against that enormous monster, it was like a firefly beside the moon.
But Uchiha Sora knew this was the key to victory.
He gave a cold laugh.
"A Tailed Beast? How many nukes can you take?"
With that, Uchiha Sora skillfully pulled out the AK-47, swiftly loaded the bullet, released the safety, and chambered it.
The whole process was smooth and effortless!
Finally, Uchiha Sora raised the gun and aimed at the enormous Shukaku.
The gun's dark muzzle looked just like the eyes of the Grim Reaper!
