In the end, Orochimaru's greed still overpowered his reason.
Instead of fleeing, he struck in an instant, gripping a long blade and diving straight down at Uchiha Sora.
The Hokage's expression changed. He tried to stop him, but Orochimaru was too fast!
Orochimaru was already as strong as the Hokage, if not stronger.
With a deliberate sneak attack, the Hokage would never have been able to stop him if he hadn't been nearby.
Kakashi and Jiraiya were too far away as well.
They were also protecting the students in the village, so they couldn't risk rushing over.
It seemed Uchiha Sora was in danger.
But Uchiha Sora had seen this coming.
If he'd dared to come in person, it was because he was prepared.
He gave a cold laugh and waved his hand. A faint blue glow appeared deep in his palm!
It was none other than the nuclear energy he'd once packed into a bullet.
Uchiha Sora let out a cold snort.
"Did you really think I could only fire this thing once?"
Although it had drained most of Uchiha Sora's chakra,
the moment the glow appeared, Orochimaru sucked in a sharp breath.
His advancing body came to an abrupt halt. He even cut off his own arm, terrified of letting it touch that blue point of light.
Then his entire body turned into a thousand little snakes, flowing like water as they fled in every direction.
There was no doubt about it—he'd run!
The Hokage and the others turned pale as well.
"That blue light... Uchiha Sora still has another one!"
The Hokage was startled too.
He'd never expected Uchiha Sora to have more than one of such a terrifying weapon.
And it looked like he might even have a third.
It seemed that as long as Uchiha Sora wanted to, he could pull these things out without end!
Weapons that could easily destroy a village and blow a Tailed Beast to pieces—and in such numbers, too.
For a moment, the Hokage's attitude toward Uchiha Sora changed completely.
"This kid... He'll surely achieve great things in the village someday!"
Then he turned and called out, his voice carrying in every direction.
"Shinobi of Konoha, listen up! Repair the village, find all the injured, and send them to the Medical Department."
"As for these people from Sunagakure, kill them if you can. Capture them if they're still alive, and lock them up in the Heavenly Prison."
"Jiraiya, Kakashi, come with me. Uchiha Sora, you too!"
The Hokage vanished on the spot.
Jiraiya and Kakashi hurried over from a distance.
They came up beside Uchiha Sora.
Kakashi patted him on the shoulder.
"Not bad, kid. Is that ability really part of your Sharingan?"
Jiraiya's eyes gleamed as well.
Both men had lived long enough to be shrewd. They understood what the Hokage was thinking: he considered Uchiha Sora powerful.
But he also saw him as dangerous—a potential second Itachi Uchiha.
Even worse, the explosive power of Uchiha Sora's weapon was immense.
The threat he posed to Konoha was far greater than that of a single Tailed Beast!
Uchiha Sora chuckled.
"You're both respected teachers in the village. There's no need to be so formal..."
"But I should warn you: this thing comes at a steep cost. Even using it drains me terribly."
"I protected the village, after all. When the time comes, you two teachers had better put in a good word for me."
Uchiha Sora flashed a grin. It gave Kakashi and Jiraiya the creeps.
They both had the feeling that Uchiha Sora was threatening them.
Uchiha Sora didn't waste time. He took the lead and headed for the Hokage's office in Konoha.
He'd known from the start that using a nuclear weapon would mean the Hokage would come looking for him.
And the Hokage might worry about whether he could destroy the village.
All in all, it was going to be a hassle.
But Uchiha Sora wasn't worried at all. He'd already figured out how to handle it.
At that moment, the system's voice echoed through Uchiha Sora's mind more insistently than ever.
"Ding! Detected that the host used modern high-tech weaponry, shocking the Ninja World!"
"Additionally, detected that the host defeated a powerful enemy above his level, triggering a hidden system reward!"
"Reward one: Quantum Technology unlocked!"
"Reward two: Sharingan level increased; skill Amaterasu unlocked!"
"Reward three: Deidara's friendship, maxed out!"
Uchiha Sora froze.
The first two rewards were easy enough to understand.
Quantum Technology was the only one that caught his attention.
As far as Uchiha Sora could tell, it was beyond his understanding.
It must have come from the system.
But it was a good thing. In the future, he'd face more and more shinobi, especially later on, when overpowered freaks were everywhere. Ordinary nukes might not even work on them.
So Quantum Technology had come just in time.
The third reward, though, was a little absurd.
What did it mean, Deidara's friendship?
Wasn't he part of the Akatsuki?
How had he suddenly become friends with him?
Besides, Uchiha Sora knew the system didn't raise someone's affection for no reason.
It depended on their relationship. Deidara had absolutely nothing to do with him, right?
But then he quickly realized.
"Could it be because of the explosion?"
Sora had read the original story and knew how obsessed Deidara was with explosions.
If he'd witnessed a nuclear explosion, it was possible he'd really taken a liking to him.
Still, it didn't matter. Would Deidara actually dare come looking for him?
Uchiha Sora thought that was unlikely.
Soon, he arrived at the Hokage's office in Konoha.
The Hokage looked Uchiha Sora up and down.
Though he'd just come through a battle and was covered in wounds, he still had the commanding presence of Konoha's leader.
"Uchiha Sora! Well done. You've rendered the village a great service this time. But can you explain your eyes?"
Uchiha Sora spread his hands.
"That's hard to explain. I don't understand it myself. It awakened on its own, kind of like Itachi's."
"But there are only two of us Uchiha in the village now. Sasuke is still young, so he probably doesn't know either."
"Without anything to compare it to, it's hard to say."
The Hokage frowned.
Of course he could tell Uchiha Sora was changing the subject and talking in circles.
But the argument did have some merit.
The Sharingan was full of mysteries. Even Madara Uchiha, back in ancient times, hadn't claimed to understand all of it!
The Hokage still felt Uchiha Sora was dangerous, though.
Leaving him in the village was like keeping a time bomb.
Especially since he'd noticed that Uchiha Sora seemed able to summon that blue glow in his hand at any time.
What if one day he got annoyed, lost his temper, and blew up the village?
