Background

Li Qingyun was a survivor of the Li Family’s destruction by the Wang Family. Alongside four younger Li Family disciples, he was imprisoned in a Wang Family-run male brothel after the massacre. When Mu Xingqi arrived to acquire survivors, Li Qingyun refused to abandon any of his brothers and offered his own talent, loyalty, and their collective abilities in exchange for all five being taken together. 72

Mu Xingqi accepted the group and assigned Li Qingyun to Wangyu Tower, initially in a minor post. Though Wangyu Tower publicly operated as a Mu Family business, it functioned as Mu Xingqi’s intelligence organization and reported directly to him. 73

An earlier account describes Li Qingyun as a mysterious prodigy who rose from obscurity, reached Foundation Establishment at sixteen, and annihilated the Wang Family with one sword. His disappearance afterward became a major subject of speculation in Jinzhou County. 35

Li Qingyun is deeply protective of his brothers. In captivity, he prioritized keeping all five Li Family survivors together over his own immediate freedom, and he personally pleaded for one last embrace with Li Ruilin before the latter departed for the Green Lotus Sword Sect. 72 85
