Overview
Xuanyuan is an old powerhouse among the Six Nations, historically known for powerful Plague Exterminators, advanced Plague Extermination Arts, and specialized anti-pestilence equipment. Its standing declined as its results in Six Nations competitions worsened and its Central Council gradually lost control over the nation’s sixteen circuits 146.
Its political center is the Great Capital, home to the Central Council, major medical academies, aristocratic families, and national institutions 941.
History
Decline and factional conflict
Xuanyuan’s Central Council ruled the nation’s sixteen circuits, but its authority weakened over time as regional powers became harder to control 146. The country’s politics became divided between the aristocrat-backed Old Faction, the Central Council-aligned New Faction, and reformist forces seeking to purge entrenched interests 144 146 493.
- Reform Faction — Included Fu An and Qi Chongxiao; sought to cleanse Xuanyuan’s old guard and reshape its political structure 144 146.
- Old Faction — The largest faction, controlled by aristocratic clans 493.
- New Faction — Represented the authority of Xuanyuan’s Central Council 493.
- Zhou Zhi’s new faction — Established as a political force distinct from both Old and New Factions after Zhou Zhi defeated Wan Chaohu and secured the Wan Family’s support 493.
Collapse of the Seven Shining Stars
The Seven Shining Stars were Xuanyuan’s recognized strongest young generation. Their positions had historically been divided among aristocratic clans and powerful families, allowing those families to profit from their influence 112 444.
Their reputation deteriorated after repeated real-world failures and defeats by outside prodigies, particularly Taisui Star Lord. The deaths of Jin Zexing and Chen Chaosheng further weakened the group, prompting Xuanyuan to launch its largest genius-selection program 419 444.
Zhou Zhi’s rise
Zhou Zhi defeated Wan Chaohu in a highly publicized plague duel at Wanlong Estate, taking the title of Xuanyuan’s number one young Plague Exterminator 491 494. He subsequently demanded political backing to establish a new faction and place his own people in council elections 493.
Medical Department takeover
The Medical Department later invaded Xuanyuan, rapidly medicalizing the country and bloodily suppressing the Wan Family, the nation’s foremost aristocratic Plague Exterminator family 945. The Central Council was ultimately seized by the Chu Family of the Medical Department, whose psychological control and indoctrination policies turned much of Xuanyuan into a puppet state 982.
Government and Politics
| Political body / faction | Role |
|---|---|
| Xuanyuan Central Council | National ruling body responsible for the sixteen circuits; later captured by the Medical Department 146 982 |
| Old Faction | Aristocratic-clan political bloc and one of Xuanyuan’s two major factions 493 |
| New Faction | Faction representing Central Council authority; later led by Wen Xiu 493 832 |
| Reform Faction | Political movement associated with Fu An and Qi Chongxiao that sought to remove the old guard 144 146 |
| Wan Family | Xuanyuan’s foremost millennium-old Plague Exterminator family; historically influential across policy and factional affairs 486 |
Wen Xiu’s leadership
After the deaths of Shui Henyi and Zhong Panxi, Wen Xiu rallied former subordinates and used the Named Blade [Political Correctness] to gain substantial influence within the Central Council. She became the leader of the New Faction and was promoted to Lead Surgeon of Obstetrics and Gynecology 832.

During the conflict over Moth City, Xuanyuan mobilized alongside Great Abyss forces to oppose Chengyun’s Wind Cavalry Army 468.
