In Konoha Year 33, at the mission assignment office of Amegakure.

Inside the Amegakure leader's office, a middle-aged ninja was processing documents while a young man stood below him.

It had been nearly half a month since the Land of Rain and the Land of Wind went to war. Ever since Leader Hanzo headed to the front lines, Amegakure's major affairs had been left to Lord Kaiyu Rui.

Kaiyu Rui, seated behind his desk, set down the document in his hand and looked at the young man before him with concern. "A Zheng, how has your training been lately?"

The young man answered somewhat stiffly, "Thank you for your concern, sir. It's been alright."

Seeing the expressionless face of the young man, Kaiyu Rui coughed twice, changed the subject, took out a document, and handed it to him.

"This is your mission. Accompany the Akai Squad in transporting supplies to the front lines."

The young man flipped through the document. The cargo consisted only of medicine, compressed food, ninja tools, and the like. Nothing special.

As he watched the young man read through the document, Kaiyu Rui casually said, "A Zheng, it has been a long time since your mother passed away. When do you plan to return to the clan? All of us uncles, as well as the clan elders, hope you will come back."

The young man was stirred. His hand tightened around the document before gradually loosening.

He said calmly, "Thank you for your favor, sir, but ever since my mother left the clan, she never intended to return."

Kaiyu Rui took a drag from his cigarette and responded, "Well, we can talk about it after you've given it some thought."

"Oh, and there's a town on the way to the front lines. Yubu Town has been unsettled lately, and hostile ninja may be lurking there. Be careful."

The young man nodded. As he turned to leave, he caught sight of a faint smile amid the curling smoke.

The young man was named Gray Rain Zheng, also known as Su Zheng. He was a transmigrator.

After arriving in this world, he inherited the memories of the original Gray Rain Zheng. Gray Rain Zheng's mother had been born into the Gray Rain Clan, one of the major clans in the Land of Rain. However, because she married a commoner opposed by the clan, she was cast out.

In this cruel Ninja World, where killing and danger lurked everywhere, his parents died in the war not long after getting married. He was raised by his uncle.

Because of the ridiculous honor of a clan, its ridiculous bloodline and status, the Gray Rain Clan suppressed his parents until they eventually died. Having inherited the original body, Su Zheng naturally felt deeply resistant toward the Gray Rain Clan.

After leaving the office, Su Zheng went to notify his teammates: Huanyue Maki and Shota in the Red Shirt.

Su Zheng had performed well at the Ninja Academy, so he skipped grades repeatedly and eventually graduated in the same year as the other two. The "genius" and his two teammates were assigned to the same squad, with Maki Jiro as their jonin instructor.

But after the war broke out, most jonin were sent to the battlefield. Their training guidance naturally came to a halt, leaving the squad to train and take missions on their own.

During previous missions, Su Zheng had displayed his strength. Therefore, before Teacher Maki left, he appointed Su Zheng as the captain.

Su Zheng arrived at Gyu Yakiniku. The food there was excellent, and it was considered a famous restaurant in Amegakure. Shota and Maki often went on dates there.

Su Zheng lifted the curtain and swept his gaze around. By the window on the left, a young man and woman were chatting and laughing as they enjoyed their food.

The girl wore a black ponytail, and her round face was adorable. Her ninja forehead protector hung around her neck. The young man had delicate features and a slightly helpless expression, occasionally placing grilled meat in front of the girl. Naturally, the two were Maki and Shota.

Su Zheng walked over and sat down. Looking at Maki, he teased, "Maki, aren't you afraid Shota will dislike you for eating so much?"

"Like he'd dare!" Maki glared viciously at Shota, making his scalp tingle.

Shota looked resentfully at Su Zheng. Su Zheng showed no embarrassment whatsoever, took up the baton, and began devouring the food.

Beside him, Shota desperately tried to prove that he would never dislike her. Shota and Maki had grown up together and had a close relationship, but they were lax in training. Whenever they had no missions, they would go on dates like this.

Whenever there was a mission and Su Zheng came to find them, he would always provoke Shota a little. It was a small punishment for not training with him!

After being comforted and receiving several promises, Maki stopped dwelling on it and continued dealing with the food before her.

Shota turned to Su Zheng helplessly. "A Zheng, tell us. What's the mission? Could you stop messing with me next time?"

Su Zheng laughed heartily, draped an arm around Shota's shoulder, and answered, "Alright, alright. I won't do it next time!"

He then put on a serious expression. "This mission is a little troublesome. We'll be transporting supplies to the front lines with the Akai Squad."

Both of them were surprised. Since the war began, the missions they received had greatly decreased. And because they were genin, they had not been assigned any difficult missions. Things had been relatively safe.

This time was different. They were going to the front lines, and no one knew where danger might come from. They wanted to object, but no words came out. This was the meaning of a ninja's existence. The village protected them, and they had to give everything for the village, even their own lives!

After learning the details of the mission, both fell silent. What should have been a pleasant date had run into something like this.

Seeing their expressions, Su Zheng reassured them, "Don't worry! We're strong. We'll definitely complete the mission safely!"

Since things had come to this, they no longer had any interest in dating. The three discussed many details, divided up what they needed to prepare for tomorrow, and went home to get ready.

Su Zheng sprinted forward, charging at the training post. His left hand swept past it, cleanly slicing the post apart and leaving behind a smooth cut.

He still could not properly control the nature transformation and shape transformation of Lightning Chakra. It sometimes burned his palm. The technique was incomplete and still required practice.

After cleaning up, he lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling. This was Su Zheng's fifth year after transmigrating. He was already eleven years old, and the ninja world had entered the Second Shinobi World War. Many pivotal events were about to occur: the rise of the three ninja, Konoha's White Fang killing Sasori's parents, the deaths of Nawaki and Dan Katō, the changes in Tsunade and Orochimaru, and most importantly—the three orphans of Amegakure: Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan becoming Jiraiya's disciples...

Su Zheng looked at the screen in his mind and sighed inwardly. He possessed a "Save All Humanity" system, but it was "not activated"!

His attempts over the past few years had taught him that it was a stupid system. It was one thing for it to remain inactive, but he could not even communicate with it. It did not even qualify as artificial stupidity.

If it could give him even a little power—not much, just the Rinnegan or a Sage Body—he could advance his plan.

With pleasant thoughts filling his mind, Su Zheng drifted into sleep.
