Shrek Freshman Dormitory.
Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong were still arguing and grabbing at each other.
Unfortunately, Huo Yuhao's vocabulary was limited, and he was no match for Wang Dong. His little face had turned red with anger.
"Bastard! I'm not arguing with you anymore! You wanted to fight, didn't you? Then let's go!"
"Come on! Whoever loses has to do the dormitory cleaning!"
They stared straight at each other, sparks seeming to fly between them.
Su Ling rubbed his forehead and chuckled. He stepped forward, pulled Huo Yuhao aside, and said quietly, "Yuhao, don't be impulsive. She's a Soul Grandmaster."
At that, Huo Yuhao pressed his lips together. The fury in his eyes paused for an instant, then gave way to indignation.
He remembered how she had just insulted him and clenched his fists. After a fierce inner struggle, he raised his head and glared at Wang Dong, steeling himself.
"So what if she's a Soul Grandmaster? Big Brother Su Ling, I'm not afraid!"
This so-called roommate had acted superior from the moment she arrived, issuing commands with every word. Her bullying, domineering manner was exactly like that of those people in the Dai Mansion.
The day he left the Dai Mansion, he had secretly sworn that he would make everyone who looked down on him pay!
So what if she was a Soul Grandmaster? Even if she beat him to death, Huo Yuhao would still bite off a piece of her!
Seeing the defiance on Huo Yuhao's face, Su Ling sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Yuhao, I know you're not afraid, and I know you're a person with dignity and backbone."
"But your Soul Power is still much weaker than hers. If you two really fight, what if she loses control and hurts you?"
"You call me Big Brother, so how could I stand by and do nothing?"
"Big Brother Su Ling..."
Huo Yuhao's nose stung, and his eyes reddened.
"Don't worry. I'll get justice for you over the way she treated you!"
With that, Su Ling gave Huo Yuhao a reassuring smile, gently patted his shoulder, then turned and walked toward Wang Dong.
Huo Yuhao's eyes grew red. At that moment, Su Ling's figure seemed to grow larger in his eyes, becoming more and more imposing.
An unprecedented warmth welled up in his heart.
As for Wang Dong, seeing only Su Ling walk over left her at a loss.
"Hey, what were you two muttering about over there? Is he still going to fight or not?"
Su Ling smiled. "We're still fighting, but for the sake of fairness, Yuhao is only Level 11, while you're a Soul Grandmaster. It'd be a bit unfair, so I'll fight you in his place. How about it?"
"That idiot is only Level 11? How did he even get in?"
Wang Dong was a little surprised. She glanced at Huo Yuhao with disdain, then turned to Su Ling.
"Fine, I accept. But let's add a wager."
"Go ahead."
"If I win..." Wang Dong drew out the words, looking Su Ling up and down. A sly glint flashed in her eyes.
"You have to switch dorm rooms with that idiot. After that, all the dormitory cleaning is yours. And that includes—though isn't limited to—serving me tea, bringing me water, and washing and folding my clothes!"
Compared to that dull-looking idiot, this refined-looking young man before her was much easier on the eyes.
She could make him serve her tea and water, wash her clothes, and even give her a massage or wash her feet now and then.
Back in the Divine Realm, whenever Mom got angry, Dad would wait on her like that to coax her back into a good mood.
She wanted to experience that feeling too.
Just thinking about it was fun!
"Sure. And what if I win?"
At that, Wang Dong folded her arms and gave a soft snort. "You can ask after you win!"
Seeing this, Su Ling's lips curled into a faint smile.
She'd taken the bait.
A short while later.
The three of them went downstairs and found a quiet grove with no one around.
Huo Yuhao sat on a public bench, his gaze shifting between Wang Dong and Su Ling, who stood on either side of the clearing.
Su Ling stood tall, a lazy, gentle smile on his face. He showed none of the tension of someone about to fight.
Just then, Wang Dong tossed her short pink-and-blue hair and asked, "I still don't know your name."
"Shouldn't you introduce yourself before asking someone else's name?" Su Ling replied with a light laugh.
Wang Dong smiled. A pair of blue butterfly wings instantly unfurled behind her, their shape and color incomparably beautiful, like a work of art.
"My name is Wang Dong. I'm a Level 21 Soul Grandmaster, and my Martial Soul is the Light Goddess Butterfly."
"Also, we won't use Soul Skills in this fight. We'll decide the winner based only on how well we use our Martial Souls. How does that sound?"
"Fine."
Su Ling gave a slight nod and extended one hand, palm turned to the side. "Su Ling, Level 29 Soul Grandmaster. My Martial Soul is the Thunder Prison Qilin Emperor. After you."
As he spoke, a flash of lightning transformed his outstretched hand into a Qilin Claw. Purple-black scales spread to his wrist.
Seeing this, Wang Dong furrowed her brow.
Level 29? A Qilin Martial Soul?
That was a divine beast. Its quality was at least super-level, and its bloodline might even surpass that of her Light Goddess Butterfly.
And from the looks of it, his was a Lightning-type Martial Soul—the most ferocious of all attributes when it came to offense!
"What do you say, Wang Dong? Do you still want to fight?" Su Ling teased with a smile.
"Hmph! So what if your Martial Soul and level are a little higher than mine? Soul Skills are forbidden in this fight. It's still anyone's game!"
Wang Dong snorted and leaped into the air. Her butterfly wings beat once, and she swiftly closed the distance with Su Ling, using the Light Goddess Butterfly's agility.
White light glimmered across her wings, which shone like steel in the morning light.
However, Su Ling had already predicted her flight path. His smile faded, and rather than retreating, he stepped forward. Just as her blade-like wings came slashing toward him, he suddenly twisted his foot.
"Whoosh!"
He slipped neatly to the side and dodged.
The gust Wang Dong carried with her ruffled Su Ling's hair. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and he lightly flicked out a thread of black lightning from his right claw.
"Whoosh... crack!" A muffled impact rang out.
The lightning struck her butterfly wings with pinpoint accuracy and spread from her back throughout her body.
The Light Goddess Butterfly behind Wang Dong stiffened for an instant, and her figure wavered in midair, nearly falling.
Fortunately, Su Ling had controlled the force. After only two breaths, Wang Dong recovered.
She steadied herself and looked toward Su Ling, only to realize that he had somehow gotten close to her.
"Your butterfly wings are pretty sharp, but your aim could use some work."
Su Ling's voice sounded right beside Wang Dong's ear. His warm breath brushed past her, and the tips of her ears reddened—whether from anger or embarrassment, she couldn't tell.
"You!" Wang Dong was both startled and furious. She raised her hand and clenched it as if grasping something. The next moment, a small, pitch-black hammer appeared. "Take this!"
Seeing the hammer swing toward him with such force, Su Ling raised an eyebrow. He lifted his own hand and thrust his Qilin Claw forward, meeting the hammer head-on.
After all, this was the Clear Sky Hammer, reputedly the greatest weapon Martial Soul in the world. This time, Su Ling held nothing back and used all his strength.
A tremendous boom rang out.
Dewdrops gathered on the surrounding leaves shook loose and fell.
Huo Yuhao, watching from the sidelines, wiped the water from his eyelids with his sleeve before looking toward the clearing.
Wang Dong sat sprawled on the grass, the Light Goddess Butterfly behind her no longer sharp-edged, its wings drooping limply as though they had lost all their strength.
The small, pitch-black hammer lay on the ground not far away.
Su Ling, meanwhile, stood before her with one hand behind his back, completely composed.
