Background / History

Su Ling recalls a difficult past life in which he came from a single-parent family, left school early because of financial hardship, and struggled to live alone. In his current life, he states that he has no parents and grew up through others' charity. 4

For six years before coming to Shrek, Su Ling deliberately maintained the appearance of a harmless, foolish village boy in order to evade God King Tang's scrutiny. Once that surveillance diminished, he used a Plane Masking Temporary Card to conceal himself and traveled to Shrek City to develop through the system. 1 11

He obtains the Dark Evil Qilin Martial Soul and a Sumeru Ring through his system. After fusing with the Thunderous Hell Vine, his martial soul evolves into the dual-form Thunder Prison Qilin Emperor and Dark Evil Qilin Emperor. The initial fusion devastates the surrounding land and leaves behind a dark, evil aura. 2

Xuan Zi finds Su Ling near the Star Dou Great Forest, discovers his innate Rank 20 soul power, and personally helps him hunt soul rings. Su Ling kills a Thunder-Shock Tiger and a Three-Eyed Lightning Owl, then absorbs both thousand-year rings with virtually no resistance from their remaining wills. 2 4

At Shrek Academy, Mu En offers to accept Su Ling as a disciple and designate him as the future Sea God Pavilion Master. Su Ling refuses, choosing instead to advance through the academy ranks by his own effort. 7

During the Inner Court soul hunt, Su Ling exposes the Dark Evil Qilin Emperor to save Zhang Lexuan and the injured Inner Court disciples from Nether Thunder Evil Qi. Although this causes others to recognize the evil nature of his martial soul, Xuan Zi concludes that Su Ling's actions, rather than his martial soul, define his character. 25 26

Su Ling later reveals that he possesses a divine inheritance and a Godhood Seed, using divine-trial resources to assist Xuan Zi's breakthrough and to support his own long-term plan of gathering faith for a self-created god position. 63 135

After nearly dying during the hunt for the Silvermoon Azure Wolf, Su Ling is rescued by the transformed Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Qiu'er. In the Extreme North, Su Ling secures the Ice Empress’s allegiance and gives her a card that can make her fully human without sacrificing her strength. He then fuses his Godhood Seed with the divine seals of Destruction and Evil, forming a Qilin Beast Seal and beginning the reconstruction of an independent Qilin Godhood. His new path requires faith from humans and soul beasts rather than succession to either God King’s position. 165 166
