The six soul beasts lined up, and the pier fell silent in an instant.
The Plate Armor Turtle stood at the very front, its thick shell gleaming with a grayish-black luster like a moving city wall.
The Tide Jellyfish hovered in mid-air, the tips of its tentacles flashing with pale blue fluorescence as ripples slowly spread across its bell.
The Feather Eagle spread its wings, circling above the pier with its sharp gaze locked onto the sea surface.
The Beetle Immortal planted its six long legs firmly into the wooden planks, its antennae swaying back and forth to sense the fluctuations of soul power in the air.
The Blazing Wolf stood at Luo Chen's side, yellow flames surging over its body and causing the surrounding air to distort slightly.
As for the Evil Eye Tyrant Sovereign—that golden King Ball hovered above Luo Chen's palm. It was not activated, yet a faint, intangible spiritual pressure had already permeated the area, forcing the nearby low-level soul masters to involuntarily take a step back.
Fule was stunned. He had seen many geniuses, and he had certainly seen the top disciples of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy, but a child under seven years old commanding six soul beasts simultaneously, one of which was a thousand-year soul beast? This was no longer a genius; this was a monster.
"You..." Fule opened his mouth, at a loss for words.
"Uncle Fule, there's no time," Luo Chen interrupted, his gaze fixed on the sea.
On the distant sea, several black dorsal fins were rapidly approaching. The largest one was longer than a fishing boat, and a row of jagged fins along its spine glinted with a cold light—a thousand-year Iron-Spine Shark.
Behind it, five hundred-year soul beasts followed closely, each with a different form. One resembled a giant sea snake, its body writhing in the water; another looked like a magnified starfish, its tentacles slapping against the surface; and there were three ugly, fish-like soul beasts with sharp, white fangs bared in their mouths.
Further out, a dense mass of smaller soul beasts crowded the sea, a dark, overwhelming swarm of at least a hundred.
"They're here." Fule's expression darkened as he drew the long sword from his waist, a pale blue light shimmering along the blade. "Little Chen, are you sure you can handle those hundred-year soul beasts?"
"I am," Luo Chen's voice was calm. "But I need someone to help me pin down the smaller ones."
"I'll help too!" A voice came from above. Su Heng descended from the sky, his Thunder Roc martial soul already released. Silver-blue electric arcs danced around him, his eyes turned a pale gold, and the thunder wings on his back flapped slightly, emitting a sizzling sound of electricity.
"Thunder attribute? Flight type?" Fule was shocked once more. These two children possessed martial souls that were rarer than the last.
"Uncle Fule, leave the Iron-Spine Shark to you; leave the rest to us." After saying this, Luo Chen vaulted onto the Blazing Wolf. "Su Heng, provide aerial support."
"Understood."
Su Heng flapped his wings, turning into a bolt of lightning as he charged toward the sea.
Luo Chen issued his orders simultaneously: "Plate Armor Turtle, hold the pier! Tide Jellyfish, prepare Spiritual Tide! Feather Eagle, scout the enemy! Beetle Immortal, protect the civilians!"
The five soul beasts acted in unison.
The Plate Armor Turtle entered the water, its shell glowing with a water-blue light as it blocked the entrance to the pier tightly.
The Tide Jellyfish floated into mid-air, the fluorescence on its bell growing brighter and brighter, like a lighthouse about to erupt.
The Feather Eagle climbed higher, circling above the port as its sharp eyes swept over every approaching soul beast.
The Beetle Immortal retreated in front of the crowd, spreading its six long legs. Its antennae released a faint ripple of soul power, forming a transparent barrier in front of the civilians.
Luo Chen rode the Blazing Wolf toward the edge of the pier, with Su Heng flying parallel to him in the air.
Fule stopped wasting words and released his martial soul—the Steel-Tooth Warrior!
It was a massive, pitch-black water buffalo, its two sharp horns resembling a pair of black swords.
This was the first time Luo Chen had seen Fule's martial soul. He hadn't expected that while Fule looked thin, his martial soul would be so... powerful!
"Little Chen, I'll leave the other soul beasts to you; that four-thousand-year Iron-Spine Shark is mine!"
"Don't worry, Uncle Fule."
Fule tucked his feet in, crouched slightly, and then leaped toward a boat at the pier like an arrow released from a bow.
Once he had steadied himself on the sea, Su Heng and the other soul masters of Hailun City took responsibility for blocking the remaining soul beasts.
Luo Chen faced four hundred-year soul beasts alone: the Nether Water Snake, the Golden Starfish, and three Alien Fish. It was said that Alien Fish were notoriously ugly, with each individual differing in their own unique way of being hideous.
"Tide Jellyfish, ready! Spiritual Tide, unleash everything on those five!"
Seven-colored light bloomed from the Tide Jellyfish's bell, aimed directly at the five ugly creatures.
Among these five, the Golden Starfish was also a spiritual-type soul beast and had the highest cultivation age, nearly rivaling the Tide Light Jellyfish before its evolution. Thus, the Tide Jellyfish's spiritual attack had less effect on it, to the point that while the other three Alien Fish were stunned, the Golden Starfish was able to withstand the blow!
However, Luo Chen still had the Evil Emperor! As Luo Chen's strength grew, the Evil Emperor's power had also recovered to the thousand-year level.
Yet, the Evil Emperor still wanted to escape. Once, when Luo Chen was breaking through, it tried to take advantage of the situation to possess him.
Unexpectedly, just as it was about to enter the core of Luo Chen's spiritual sea, it was dragged back into the King Ball by a mysterious force and given a "thorough beating."
The dignified Evil Emperor could not endure such a grievance, and for several days, it refused to acknowledge Luo Chen.
Luo Chen felt innocent. You tried to possess me and failed, yet you're still angry at me? Where in the world is there such logic?
Consequently, Luo Chen summoned the Evil Eye, aimed it at the starfish, and unleashed a full-power Evil Eye Gaze!
The thousand-year-level Evil Eye Gaze directly locked the Golden Starfish in a hard stun.
"Feather Eagle, take me into the sky!" Luo Chen leaped directly from the Blazing Wolf, and the Feather Eagle swooped down, catching him in mid-air.
Standing on the back of the Feather Eagle, Luo Chen headed straight for the Golden Starfish!
It had been a long time since he had captured a new spirit. First, because the semester had ended and he couldn't go to the Star Dou Great Forest, and second, because he had been busy consolidating his soul power level.
Now that he had finally stabilized his soul power at level 24, it was time to add another helper!
I choose you, Golden Starfish! The Evil Eye Gaze could control the Golden Starfish for 8 seconds! A full eight seconds—in battle, that was practically a god-tier skill!
The Golden Starfish fell into despair; he could not move, nor could he even mobilize his spiritual power! There was someone in this sea area with spiritual power far superior to his own!
Unfortunately, there was no medicine for regret to be bought in this world. With a single Feather Strike, the Feather Eagle severed two of the Golden Starfish's horns!
Gravely injured! Near death!
Luo Chen pulled out the only Gulu Ball he had and threw it toward the Golden Starfish.
The Gulu Ball bounced back after touching the Golden Starfish, and then the Golden Starfish was sucked into the ball.
Just as Luo Chen thought his seventh soul beast was about to arrive, an accident occurred. The Gulu Ball shook twice, and the next second, it vanished. The Golden Starfish was released once more. The effect of the Evil Eye Gaze had worn off, and, terrified, the Golden Starfish dove beneath the surface and fled into the distance!
