Background / History

Minato died during the Nine-Tails Incident alongside Kushina. Before fading, he left chakra and a trace of consciousness within Naruto’s seal, allowing him to learn that Obito was responsible for the attack before Shi Xiu reanimated him. His soul, however, had been taken by the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, initially preventing a normal Reanimation summon. 5 8

Shi Xiu used Izanagi to bypass the seal’s cost and successfully summoned Minato into a Reanimation body. Minato accepted the dangerous plan because he wanted to see Naruto grow up. 5 7

After returning to Konoha, Minato and Kushina reunited with their infant son. Shi Xiu ordered them to remain hidden, warning that public knowledge of Minato’s survival could draw the masked man back to Konoha. 8 12

Minato later led Kushina and Rin to the Land of Water through the Flying Thunder God mark he had placed on the masked man. There, he confronted Obito, wounded him with a Rasengan, and silently endured Obito’s accusations that he had failed his students. Minato ultimately apologized and expressed happiness that Obito was alive, helping Obito abandon Black Zetsu’s plan and return to Konoha. 17 18 19 20

When Obito collapsed because of a curse seal in his heart, Minato urgently brought Shi Xiu back to the courtyard for help. He and Kushina supported Rin throughout the operation that saved Obito’s life. 23 24

Appearance

Minato is a yellow-haired man who wears the Fourth Hokage’s haori. In his Reanimation state, his body bears the black sclera and cracked, porcelain-like markings characteristic of the technique. 7 18

Personality

Minato is composed and decisive in danger. He reacts instantly to threats, detects approaching shinobi, and acts without hesitation when Obito’s life is in danger. 9 17 23

Outside combat, he can be awkward and somewhat naive; Shi Xiu specifically contrasts his battle intelligence with his everyday innocence. He often scratches his head or offers an embarrassed smile in uncomfortable situations. 4 8 17

He is compassionate toward his students and family. Minato feels guilt over Obito’s fate, refuses to blame him after their reunion, and is deeply tender when seeing Naruto. 8 18 19
