Genmei’s fourteen-jōnin faction 20 After defeating and resurrecting Naka, Genmei establishes a core team of fourteen jōnin, including a Mangekyō wielder and survivors who sacrificed an eye through Izanagi.
Fifteen-jōnin faction 25 Genmei’s following grows to fifteen jōnin. The two previously one-eyed members have recovered, and a grateful survivor joins voluntarily.

Clan-suitable Sage Mode developed 43 Genmei spends fifty wisps of Aura to make his Sage Mode broadly applicable without reducing its minimum threefold amplification.
Sage Mode adopted by elite members 45 More than one hundred three-tomoe elites learn the simplified method with substantial financial and material support.
Genetic supplementation program 78 Genmei outlines a method combining genetic completion with daily infusions of Matatabi’s chakra, intended to strengthen members’ bodies and eyes beyond ordinary Mangekyō limits.
Physical transformation demonstrated 80 Participants experience substantial bodily improvements, not merely changes to their eyes.
Expanded Mangekyō strength 93 Other clans assess the Uchiha as several times more formidable than before Konoha’s founding, with its Mangekyō population approaching double digits.

Background / History

Warring States Legacy and Konoha’s Founding

The Uchiha’s resources include a thousand years of copied ninjutsu and a longstanding network of subordinate clans. The Kurama, for example, followed them for several hundred years before gradually drifting toward Konoha’s administration 43 59.

The Uchiha and Senju ended their rivalry to establish Konoha. Cooperation did not erase their hostility: Senju members repeatedly invoked Madara’s defeat by Hashirama to portray the Uchiha as a conquered clan rather than an equal founding partner. This humiliation helped turn the Hokage position into an increasingly obsessive symbol of recognition 24 47 98.

The clan also retained contracts predating the hidden villages. Its duty to guard the exiled Chinoike in Hell Valley had provided dependable income for over a century, supported by the Land of Lightning’s feudal lord despite the Uchiha’s residence in the Land of Fire 7 9.

Police Authority and Internal Division

At the beginning of the story, Police Force headquarters stands inside the Uchiha’s central Konoha compound. The department is monitored under policies established by Tobirama and continued by Hiruzen 1.

The clan’s uncompromising enforcement alienates businesses, civilians seeking loopholes, and informal local organizations. Its military strength therefore coexists with poor relations across much of the village 5.

Internally, Kagami favors integration with Konoha, Setsuna prioritizes clan interests, and Koh attempts to preserve stability between them. The dispute becomes dangerous enough that Cloud spies consider intelligence about an impending Uchiha civil war especially valuable 2 6.

Genmei’s Consolidation of Power

Genmei’s Hell Valley assignment draws him into conflict with the Chinoike and hired Cloud ninja. The Uchiha repel a large lightning attack with the Asura Hellfire barrier, while Genmei defeats the attacking forces and installs Gabimaru as lord of Hell Valley 12 14 17.

The clan then recalls Genmei and Yuta, while Naka is sent to eliminate them. Genmei defeats the interception force, recruits its survivors through threats and promises, and resurrects Naka, securing the former attacker’s allegiance 17 19 20.

Genmei subsequently challenges Setsuna and confronts Kagami and Koh over his clan-first political program. At a clan meeting, Koh announces that he will transfer leadership to Genmei, triggering a battle. Setsuna and Kagami are killed; Baru and Rai later submit 22 23 26 28 29 30.

Hikari’s Yachihoko is used to control participants during the takeover. Genmei releases that control afterward, and the remaining clan members accept his leadership once its strongest fighters stand behind him 26 30.

Expansion and the Uzumaki’s Recruitment

Genmei combines commercial wealth with combat training, enabling more than one hundred elite members to adopt Sage Mode. The clan’s increased strength makes Hiruzen willing to employ it in war rather than keep it confined to police duties 45.

Nearly one thousand Uchiha deploy to rescue the Land of Whirlpools. During the campaign, Genmei secretly hires Kirigakure to continue harassment while Uchiha forces provide protection and food. He uses the resulting dependency to pressure the Uzumaki into joining under the Uchiha banner 47 55 56.

Nearly one thousand Uzumaki subsequently travel to Konoha with Genmei. They enter as Uchiha-supported employees rather than dependents maintained by the village, frustrating Hiruzen’s expectation that they would join Konoha directly 57.

Genmei also reunites former vassals through Police Force positions and tangible benefits. By the time of his Hokage campaign, even clans historically aligned with the Sarutobi support him 59 60 92 93.

An Uchiha Hokage

The Uchiha Police Force raids Root with Hiruzen’s approval, arrests Danzō and his personnel, and seals evidence of their crimes. Hiruzen then negotiates his retirement and nominates Genmei as his successor 95 96.

Genmei wins the majority support of Konoha’s jōnin and becomes Fourth Hokage. The clan celebrates the achievement as vindication of its standing as a founding family 97 98.

One of his first reforms ends exclusive Uchiha ownership of the Police Force by opening it to every Konoha ninja clan. Despite his expectation of resistance, the Uchiha elites support the change 99.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan

  • Technique copying: Centuries of Sharingan use have accumulated an extensive ninjutsu library 43 96.
  • Genjutsu: Ocular illusions are used in battle, control, and information sharing. Superior ocular power can overturn an opponent’s illusion, as Genmei demonstrates against Baru’s Tsukuyomi 28 54.
  • Individual techniques: Documented powers include Naka’s Marici, Rai’s Takemikazuchi, Chiri’s Izanami-no-Mikoto, and Hikari’s Yachihoko 18 20 23.
  • Vision damage: Mangekyō use can blur or destroy sight. Genmei’s Amaterasu-Omikami restores damaged eyes, reducing a major limitation for his followers 22 30.
  • Izanagi abuse: Its widespread use encourages recklessness and leaves some members one-eyed. Genmei sees a reliable counter as necessary to curb this behavior 20 23 30.

Susanoo

  • Manifestation: Several elite members summon large chakra guardians, including Kagami, Baru, Hikari, and Madara 28 49 53.
  • Sage enhancement: Natural-energy chakra can empower Susanoo, as demonstrated by Hikari 49.
  • Genmei’s adaptations: His modified Susanoo can operate with three-tomoe eyes and compress into close-fitting armor; these are personal innovations, not established abilities of every member 11 28.
  • Limits: Even Genmei’s thousand-meter manifestation is destroyed by Momoshiki’s pressure-enhanced attack 117.

Fire Release and Uchiha Combat Arts

  • Fire affinity: Genmei estimates that ninety-nine percent of the clan possesses fire-natured chakra 43.
  • Combat repertoire: Uchiha-style ninjutsu-taijutsu, shurikenjutsu, sword techniques, Dragon Fire, and Great Fireball are documented 1 3 27.
  • Defensive barriers: The Uchiha Flame Formation can withstand Tailed Beast Balls; the Asura Hellfire barrier repels the Cloud detachment’s lightning assault at Hell Valley 12 43.

Sage Mode and Genetic Enhancement

  • Accessible training: Genmei redesigns Sage Mode for broad human use, preserving at least a threefold base amplification 43.
  • Elite adoption: Wealth and resource allocation support its spread among the clan’s three-tomoe fighters 45.
  • Ocular growth: Chiri’s years of Sage Mode practice and status as Genmei’s kin greatly strengthen her ocular power 50.
  • Genetic supplementation: Genmei’s program seeks continued bodily and eye development without making Eternal Mangekyō the sole route forward 78 80.

Institutions and Resources

  • Military Police Force — Initially an Uchiha-dominated elite department; later takes over Konoha’s civil administration and expands recruitment beyond the clan 2 57 60 99.
  • Skynet barrier network — Established without Hokage approval. Genmei plans dedicated barriers for Police Force branch offices 58 59.
  • Commercial company — Jointly established with a noble of the Land of Demons; described as wealthier than Konoha itself 59.
  • Clan school — Uses history, politics, and economics books obtained from the Land of Lightning’s feudal lord. Attendance is required for Police Force members, vassal clans, and affiliated civilian ninja 76.
  • Expanded educational proposal — Koh recommends making ideological training a prerequisite for senior departmental posts throughout Konoha 99.
  • Relocation plan — Genmei orders land purchased on Konoha’s outskirts to accommodate the enlarged community, reserving the original grounds for police and company facilities 56.
  • Ninja cats — Support tracking and communications, including Yuta’s urgent report to Setsuna during the Hell Valley campaign 3 13.

Relationships

  • Konohagakure — Founding village and political arena. Relations move from surveillance and mutual distrust toward dependence on Uchiha military strength, then an Uchiha-led administration 1 45 97.
  • Senju clan — Thousand-year rivals and co-founders. Old humiliations persist after the truce, although Genmei later seeks renewed cooperation between Madara and Hashirama 24 98 113.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen — Rejects Danzō’s proposed elimination of the Uchiha, increasingly relies on their strength, and ultimately supports Genmei’s succession 6 45 95 97.
  • Shimura Danzō and Root — Hostile political rivals. Danzō advocates eliminating the clan before the Uchiha Police Force exposes and arrests him 6 95.
  • Land of Lightning’s feudal lord — Longstanding employer whose patronage sustains the Hell Valley contract; his representative accepts responsibility for the clash with Cloud ninja 7 16.
  • Chinoike clan — Exiled clan guarded by the Uchiha. Gosho hires Cloud forces to kill the guards, leading to the destruction of Chinoike military strength 9 12 16.
  • Uzumaki clan — Joins under the Uchiha banner for protection after Genmei’s coercive campaign; capable members are recruited into the Police Force 55 56.
  • Kurama and former vassal clans — Return to Uchiha patronage through promised benefits and Police Force quotas 59 60.
  • Hyūga clan — Quickly supports Genmei’s Hokage campaign after recognizing the scale of Uchiha power 92.
  • Matatabi — Genmei’s partner, permitted to roam the Uchiha compound; her chakra also becomes a resource for his enhancement program 33 78.

Culture and Traditions

  • Fan crest: Appears within Setsuna’s residence as a clan emblem 7.
  • Traditional clothing: Members wear traditional Uchiha attire and black robes, including during mass military assembly 1 19 47.
  • Honor and reputation: The clan insists on elite police personnel to avoid disgrace. Pride also makes surrender and the treatment of the dead contentious 2 19 29.
  • Clan meetings: Sharingan-awakened members assemble at Naka Shrine to discuss clan affairs 25.
  • War observances: Before leading a large deployment, the clan head fasts, bathes, and conducts shrine observances 47.
  • Political education: Genmei’s school is intended partly to counter the recurring extremism and fixation he associates with Sharingan users 76.
