Background / History

The original Li Muyang was a reckless seventeen-year-old from Jiuyuan City. After quarrelling with his father, Li Damu, over his infatuation with Ning Wan'er and wasteful spending, he joined the Demon Refining Sect as an outer-sect handyman. He suffered qi deviation while cultivating blindly and died shortly afterward. A transmigrator then took over his body. 21

Upon awakening in the sect, Li Muyang lived as a low-ranking chore disciple, herding bipedal sheep in Blood Mist Valley for spirit-rice wages. Two months later, the Game with Fairies system completed its loading process and bound itself to him as its host. 1

His early goal was to use the system’s rewards to escape the insecurity and poverty of outer-sect life. After acquiring planting rights to two abandoned spirit fields, he moved to the mountainside and became a spirit planter, supporting himself with the Lesser Cloud and Rain Art while cultivating in secret. 20 25

Personality

Li Muyang approaches danger with a gamer’s mentality: he gathers information, tests routes through repeated failures, and treats save reloading as a means to master an encounter rather than as an excuse for reckless action. He values practical advantages, especially resources, cultivation speed, and reliable escape options. 7 26 49

Despite wanting a quiet, “lying-flat” life, he is willing to work obsessively when it will improve his future security. The system’s exemption from cultivation backlash lets him repeatedly refine demonic blood and push himself through all-night training sessions. 26

He often acts detached toward family and social obligations, referring to Li Yuechan as his “cheap” sister and avoiding Ning Wan'er’s interest. However, he spends his savings and high-grade spirit rice to treat Yuechan’s injuries, then secretly retaliates against Qin Haie for causing them. 38 40 42

Abilities & Skills

Game with Fairies System

Li Muyang is bound to a system that searches for game instances, generates playable identities, tracks character affinity, and grants rewards for successful clears. 11 12

  • Can enter highly realistic game scenarios while remaining physically in the Demon Refining Sect.
  • Can reload saves after dying in an instance, retaining the knowledge gained from failed attempts. 4 7 49
  • Receives character cards, cultivation materials, techniques, titles, weapons, and special items for clearing stages. 9 11 29 34
  • The system exempts him from the physical harm normally caused by cultivating the Residual Cloud Movement Technique with demonic blood. 25 26

Wuming’s Time Stop

As Wuming, Li Muyang can freeze the surrounding world for seven seconds, moving freely through a monochrome, motionless environment. 7

  • Lets him inspect enemies and identify weaknesses before committing to an attack.
  • Allows him to reposition, evade ambushes, and strike immobilized opponents. 2 3 7
  • Its short duration makes weapon choice and prior knowledge critical; he failed when his ordinary imperial waist-saber could not harm the Blood Demon Beasts. 7

Sword Hidden in Belly

One of Wuming’s selected talents is a concealed flying-sword attack expelled from the mouth. 1

  • Has 100% accuracy and a 50% chance to instantly kill its target. 1
  • Can pierce defenses that his ordinary weapon cannot. 4
  • Has a twenty-second cooldown and can only deal with one target at a time. 4

Residual Cloud Movement Technique

Li Muyang mastered this demonic movement technique by repeatedly refining low-grade demonic blood without suffering its normal physical costs. 26 27

  • Causes faint demonic patterns to emerge across his skin when activated.
  • Grants extreme speed, enough to leave afterimages when running at full force. 27
  • Functions primarily as an escape trump card; few outer-sect disciples could catch him. 27

Cloud and Rain Arts

After reaching the required cultivation, Li Muyang learned the Lesser Cloud and Rain Art for maintaining his spirit fields. 19 25

  • Draws water into spiritual mist and produces rain infused with spiritual energy.
  • Requires only morning and afternoon watering rituals for his fields. 25

Flesh-Bone Green Robe

An ancient evil artifact refined from a ragdoll given to him by Granny Gu. It attacks targets through their dreams. 29

  • Requires the target’s name, place of origin, and gender; more complete information improves targeting accuracy. 29
  • Does not require a birth date, hair, clothing, or other conventional curse medium. 29
  • Can be manually controlled, allowing Li Muyang to enter and pursue a target in the dreamscape himself. 42 44
  • Successfully killed the Golden Core cultivator Qin Haie in her dream. 44
  • Killing a Golden Core cultivator appears near its limit; Li Muyang doubts it could catch a Seventh-Grade expert or anyone stronger. 44

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Endless Spirit Rice Jar — S-rank newbie-tutorial reward that produces two jin of high-grade spirit rice daily; the rice is the foundation of Li Muyang’s rapid cultivation and can also be inefficiently refined into medicinal liquid. 11 42
  • Fate Defier — title that obscures his future and origins from even powerful diviners. 11
  • Wuming Character Card — exclusive card recording Wuming’s Loushan City identity, reputation, and innate talents. 11 12
  • Complete Blood Demon Heart Refining Art — tutorial-clear reward. 9
  • Low-grade Spirit Weapon Flying Sword — tutorial-clear reward. 9
  • Flesh-Bone Green Robe — dream-haunting evil artifact capable of harvesting a marked target’s life. 29
  • Taiyi Light-Splitting Talismans ×3 — low-grade spirit talismans that manifest 68,000 illusory sword-qi projections and 6,800 real strands of sword qi; stated to be capable of killing Foundation Establishment cultivators. 35

Relationships

  • Chu Qingxue / Glaze Fairy — Tutorial ally in the Loushan City crisis. She initially doubts him but comes to respect his methods, lends him her life-bound immortal sword, and works with him to clear the incident. 4 7 8
  • Little Wild Grass / Jiang Xiaoyu — Soul-Lost One and central character of Li Muyang’s Black Cloud Stronghold game route. Li Muyang serves as her designated “sustainer,” repeatedly protects her, and eventually raises her affinity to 40, where she views him as a precious friend or family. 18 34 50
  • Li Yuechan — His foster sister. Their relationship was damaged by the original Li Muyang’s conduct, but she remains affectionate and supportive; Li Muyang ultimately spends his resources treating her demonic-energy injuries. 21 31 38 45
  • Guan Xiaoshun — Neighbor and fellow outer disciple. A hardworking spirit planter who warns Li Muyang about spirit-rice shortages, guides him through Cloud City, and offers him Vermilion Fruits during Li Yuechan’s treatment. 6 37 40
  • Ning Wan'er — The original Li Muyang’s former obsession. The transmigrated Li Muyang is indifferent toward her, though she assists Li Yuechan by bringing spirit herbs. 21 40 42
  • Qin Haie — Golden Core personal disciple responsible for the demonic energy corroding Li Yuechan’s body and soul. Li Muyang marks her with the Flesh-Bone Green Robe and kills her through her dreams. 36 40 44
  • Steward Wu — Dangerous Black Cloud Stronghold authority figure in the game. His hostility repeatedly kills Li Muyang’s game character and drives Li Muyang to search for an alternate route through the third-stage scenario. 15 49 50
  • Granny Gu — Black Cloud Stronghold figure who gives Li Muyang the ragdoll later refined into the Flesh-Bone Green Robe. 29

Story Role / Major Arcs

Loushan City Newbie Tutorial

Li Muyang enters the game as the constable Wuming and is tasked with assisting Glaze Fairy in Loushan City. After failing against demonic cultivators and Blood Demon Beasts, he uses save reloading, Time Stop, and Glaze Fairy’s sword to learn each ambush pattern and clear the tutorial. 2 4 7 10

He first earns an A-rating clear, then replays the scenario until he obtains an S-rank result. His rewards include the Endless Spirit Rice Jar, the Fate Defier title, and Wuming’s character card. 9 11

Black Cloud Stronghold Route

Li Muyang begins a new interactive game route using the identity Jiang Xiaoyu. He becomes responsible for Little Wild Grass, a Soul-Lost One purchased by Black Cloud Stronghold as cultivation material, and must raise her affinity while surviving an unknown assassin. 17 18 19

After advancing Little Wild Grass’s affinity to 40, he completes the second cultivation stage and claims three Taiyi Light-Splitting Talismans rather than an immediate cultivation-level increase. 34 35

During the third stage, Steward Wu becomes a repeated death point. Li Muyang reloads and investigates the stronghold’s caves and surrounding forest, eventually finding a fishy blood scent that he identifies as a likely plot clue. 49 50

Li Yuechan’s Injury and Qin Haie’s Death

When Li Yuechan returns gravely injured by Qin Haie’s demonic energy, Li Muyang purchases and refines spiritual herbs, exhausts his savings, and uses spirit-rice-derived medicine to keep her alive. 35 38 39 42

After learning Qin Haie’s identity and origin, he uses the Flesh-Bone Green Robe to target her dreams. Qin Haie’s Golden Core cultivation lets her flee repeatedly in the dreamscape, but Li Muyang manually controls the artifact and ultimately kills her. 37 40 44

Trivia

  • Li Muyang’s Wuming card has Friendly reputation with the Mystic Sword Sect and Ever-Victorious Army, but Hostile reputation with the Tianyuan Dynasty and Blood Demon Path. 11 12
  • He keeps his true Seventh-Level Qi Refining cultivation hidden, allowing other outer disciples to believe he is only at the Third Level. 45
  • Although he claims to want a leisurely future, he openly embraces “grinding” in the present so he can live comfortably later. 26
