Background
Little Wild Grass was born a Soul-Lost One, a congenital condition whose sufferers are considered disasters by ordinary people. Her parents stripped her of her name when she left home and sold her to a trafficker, who called her “Little Wild Grass.” 18
She was delivered with two other children to Black Cloud Stronghold, where Soul-Lost Ones were treated as resources by demonic cultivators. Steward Wu assigned her to Leng Aqi as a “sustainer,” requiring someone with sufficient vitality to remain near her and supply her with yang energy. 16 18
Jiang Xiaoyu, Li Muyang's in-game identity, becomes her caretaker. Although she initially presents herself as obedient, her hostile affinity and guarded behavior reveal that she distrusts him and expects harm. 17 18
Appearance
Little Wild Grass is initially a scrawny, filthy child of around ten, dressed in thin hemp rags with tangled hair and a mud-smeared face. After years of care from Jiang Xiaoyu, she grows into a frail but healthier fourteen-year-old girl. 16 47
- Initially wears filthy, thin hemp clothing and has unkempt hair. 16
- Her health bar is initially blood-red, later becoming pale yellow once she no longer considers Jiang Xiaoyu hostile. 16 17
- By age fourteen, she is nearly as tall as Jiang Xiaoyu's chest and wears a stronghold-issued tunic. 47
- She has a long, thin ponytail, fairer skin, and a healthier appearance than when she first arrived. 47
- Constant blood extraction leaves her pale, tired, and chronically frail. 47
Personality
Little Wild Grass is intelligent, cautious, and difficult to read. She can appear timid, obedient, or moved by kindness without genuinely lowering her guard; Jiang Xiaoyu repeatedly finds that seemingly compassionate choices do not improve her affinity. 17 18
She responds unexpectedly well to bluntness and confrontation. When Jiang Xiaoyu calls out her lies and makes clear that they will eventually part ways, her affinity rises rather than falls, and she begins to consider him trustworthy. 23
Over time, she becomes more openly concerned about Jiang Xiaoyu's safety. She warns him about Steward Wu's anger, questions his choices in dangerous situations, and clings to him in fear around Granny Gu. 24 49 48
Abilities & Conditions
Soul-Lost One Physiology
Little Wild Grass is afflicted with Soul-Lost One syndrome, which makes her valuable to Black Cloud Stronghold's demonic cultivators. 18
- Soul-Lost Ones require a nearby sustainer because they continuously drain that person's yang energy. 18
- Those around her avoid her out of fear that their vitality will be drained. 19
- Soul-Lost Ones may lose reason after nightfall, become bloodthirsty, and eventually turn into beast-like monsters. 18
- Their blood can produce a substance useful for artifact refinement and cultivation after they enter a demonic state. 18
- Little Wild Grass is unaware that her condition drains vitality. 19
- She is restrained with a refined-steel neck chain at night as a precaution against her going berserk. 18
Connection to the Dream Entity
A mysterious monster pursues Little Wild Grass through her dreams and is implicated in the deaths that occur whenever Jiang Xiaoyu falls asleep. 19 21
- She describes the creature as having seven arms, two mouths, theatrical clothing, and a stark-white face. 27
- She knows information about the killer pursuing her but initially refuses to reveal it to Jiang Xiaoyu. 21
- Granny Gu recognizes that an evil entity is targeting her and performs a ritual concerning it in the Ancestral Temple. 28 29
