Background / History
Chen Xin devoted his life to the path of the sword. Before joining the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, he had witnessed powerful factions exploit spirit masters with little opportunity; he joined the sect alongside Ning Fengzhi's father to help provide such geniuses a path forward. 32
After learning that Han Yu possessed the lightning-bearing Green Bamboo Bee Cloud Sword and a highly compatible second martial soul, Chen Xin inspected the residual sword marks at the Awakening Hall. He found the golden lightning extraordinarily domineering and judged the marks comparable to those made by a beginner who had condensed sword intent. 5
Chen Xin became Han Yu's master, competing amicably with Gu Rong for the opportunity to teach him. He reassured Han Yu that the requirement for both martial souls to absorb rings together was not necessarily a defect, reasoning that their compatibility allowed them to mutually reinforce one another. 5 6
He later received a divine assessment from the Asura God: accompany and protect the god's inheritor, Han Yu. 74
Appearance
Chen Xin is described as a slender, green-robed swordsman with a composed bearing.
- Often stands with his hands behind his back. 11 32
- His green robes flutter in the mountain wind. 11
- Wields the Seven Kill Sword. 20
- His unleashed sword aura can compel “ten thousand swords” to bow in submission. 66
Personality
Chen Xin is calm, observant, and exacting. He values caution, survival, and genuine comprehension over reckless displays of power. After Han Yu lost a test battle through overconfidence, Chen Xin stressed that a swordsman must maintain reverence for every opponent and survive countless battles before speaking of the future. 13
Though usually taciturn, he becomes animated when discussing swordsmanship or talented disciples. He is patient in instruction, openly recounting his own early mistakes in cultivating sword intent, yet he does not soften his standards. 11 13
He is deeply protective of Han Yu and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. This protection can become lethal when enemies threaten his disciple or attempt to seize the sect's secrets. 41 59 66 80
