Background / History

Ghost Douluo is a level 95 Title Douluo of Spirit Hall and is closely associated with Chrysanthemum Douluo, Yue Guan 37 39. He is one of the two Spirit Hall Title Douluos previously sent to hunt Dugu Bo after Dugu Bo refused Spirit Hall's recruitment; together, Ghost Douluo and Yue Guan overwhelmed the then-level 91 Dugu Bo until Prince Xue Xing's army intervened 23.

His martial soul is tied to his abnormal childhood: Bai Yi recalls that Ghost Douluo once died as a child, only for his soul to reenter his body, after which he awakened the Ghost martial soul 37. Because of this, Bai Yi describes him as “in a sense, a living dead man” 37.

Years later, after Bai Yi deliberately rejects Spirit Hall's recruitment in Suotuo City, Ghost Douluo is the Title Douluo sent to confront him 37. Ghost Douluo is cold, threatening, and loyal to Spirit Hall's doctrine. He frames Bai Yi's choice as either submission to Spirit Hall or death, and later states that “heretics who cannot serve His Holiness the Pope must all be purged” 37 39.

He is arrogant at first, assuming that killing several young geniuses at once is good fortune, but he becomes increasingly serious as Bai Yi repeatedly wounds, counters, and evades him 38 39. Despite his pride, he is not reckless once the battle drags on; he studies Bai Yi's techniques, detects subtle flaws in the timing of the clones, and changes tactics accordingly 39.
