Background / History

The Nine Heart Begonia is restricted so that only two possessors can exist on the continent at once; a new successor can emerge only after an existing possessor dies. Ye Lingling witnessed her grandmother's sacrifice and grew up knowing that her mother would similarly decline as Ye Lingling's own inheritance flourished. This fate left her isolated and emotionally distant from others. Her mother's martial soul had regressed to the point that it could no longer bloom. 7

After Bai Yi defeated Yu Tianheng and Dugu Yan, Ye Lingling treated his claimed poison exposure. Though she initially avoided further interaction, Bai Yi recognized both the burden of her healing and the restriction binding her family. 6

Bai Yi approached her with a proposal: he would eventually free or evolve her Nine Heart Begonia, while she would assist his Indestructible Diamond Body cultivation through repeated healing. Seeing her martial soul react to his spiritual energy, Ye Lingling accepted the agreement and asked him to save her mother as well. 7

Over the following years, she became Bai Yi's constant training partner and preferred teammate.
