Volume One, Chapter Thirty-Six
By this time, Bai Qi had already led a great army to lie in ambush near the border. This place was a rugged expanse of jagged rocks, with relatively few Tomorrow Kingdom soldiers stationed there. It was a weak point in Tomorrow Kingdom's defenses.
A young soldier walked up to Bai Qi and said respectfully, "General, everything has been arranged!"
Bai Qi said, "Mm. Move quickly, in case Tomorrow Kingdom has other plans."
"Yes!" The young soldier acknowledged the order and left.
Great Qin Soldiers buried one one-meter-tall insect egg after another beneath the ground. A person clad in a wizard's robe stepped forth, chanting complex, incomprehensible incantations as an eerie power radiated from his body.
Affected by that eerie power, the insect eggs buried in the earth gradually lost their vitality. Their color turned deathly gray, and they gave off a foul stench.
Numerous wizards extended one hand and lightly pointed forward. Gray wisps of air surged out from the ground and swiftly struck toward the guards atop the city walls.
Before those soldiers could react, the gray air instantly burrowed into their bodies.
Aaaah! Aaaah! Aaaah...
Miserable screams rang out. The soldiers felt countless insects tearing at their bodies from within. In less than a moment, many soldiers died, their corpses turning into grayish-white mummified husks that looked horrifying.
The city walls fell silent as well.
The young soldier came to Bai Qi's side. "General, everyone has been dealt with."
A trace of coldness appeared in Bai Qi's eyes. "After we break into Tomorrow Kingdom, slaughter every village and town we pass through."
"Yes!" the young soldier obeyed.
The Great Qin Soldiers swiftly took control of the city walls, ushered the vast Great Qin Army inside, and launched an attack into Tomorrow Kingdom's territory.
