Arc 5The Uchiha Exodus
The Uchiha Clan abandoned its planned coup and attempted to leave Konoha, but Danzō’s attack turned the withdrawal into a bloody battle. The survivors escaped Konoha and reached the Land of Fire’s northwestern border, with Iwagakure emerging as their likely destination.
- Fugaku and the Uchiha elders organized an evacuation, and Mikoto took Itachi and Sasuke with the first group while Fugaku remained behind.
- Hiruzen learned that Orochimaru had defected and that Danzo had framed the Uchiha, but still prepared to deal with the clan as its evacuation began.
- Fugaku announced that the Uchiha Clan was leaving Konoha, and Shōji asked Hiruzen to let them depart without becoming enemies.
- Danzō branded the Uchiha traitors and sent Root to attack, igniting a battle between the Uchiha and Konoha’s forces.
- Shōji unleashed Takemikazuchi as Fugaku fought Hiruzen, killing many opponents and allowing the surviving Uchiha to escape, though Torifu Akimichi died holding back the attack.
- Hiruzen called off a large-scale pursuit to avoid risking war with Iwagakure and Kumogakure, while the Uchiha reached the northwestern border after losing more than a third of their ninja.
- Chie urged the clan to prioritize survival, and Fugaku identified Iwagakure as the best destination as the other villages took notice of the Uchiha’s power.
