Background / History

Madara sought a suitable person to carry out his plan within Konoha. Black Zetsu initially recommended Uchiha Hayato, but Madara rejected him after learning that Hayato had studied Tobirama Senju's Flying Thunder God Technique. Madara also found Obito unsuitable, deciding instead to abandon his original approach and seek a different candidate. 116

Black Zetsu subsequently introduced Hiruko, whose mediocrity, refusal to accept it, and possession of the Chimera Technique convinced Madara that he was suitable. Madara chose Hiruko and later offered to help him acquire four compatible Kekkei Genkai, including Sharingan and Wood Release. 117 146

Madara eventually instructed Hiruko to resurrect him using the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, then disconnected his nutrient tubes and died. The intended resurrection did not occur: following Hiruko's apparent death and Nagato's disappearance, Shennong instead revived Madara through Impure World Reincarnation using a White Zetsu sacrifice. 216 292

Though revived in a younger body, Madara considered the body inferior to his own. When Shennong attempted to restrain him as the caster, Madara broke the Impure World Reincarnation connection and reduced Shennong to a subordinate role. 292 293

Madara is concise, dismissive, and accustomed to command. He has little patience for Black Zetsu's indirect explanations, rejects unsuitable plans without hesitation, and regards useful allies such as Shennong as expendable errand runners. 116 117 293

He is ruthless toward tools and subordinates, showing indifference to Hiruko's fate after Hiruko ceases to be useful. Yet his attitude changes sharply where Izuna is concerned: he reacts with fury at the prospect of Izuna being controlled through Impure World Reincarnation and keeps Izuna's body hidden in his secret base. 294 315
