Killing Momonga

While Albedo was being kicked into the Teleportation Circle, Hades didn't stop moving. He quickly pulled a Magic Item Book from his Infinite Backpack.

Then, after paying a certain amount of experience, he activated the Magic Item Book in his hand.

"Dimensional Lock"

The Magic Item Book in Hades's hand dissolved into specks of starlight. A ripple seemed to sweep through the air, then quickly vanished without a trace.

Dimensional Lock was a ninth-tier magic spell that could block all spatial abilities and mind-affecting magic within a certain area. Once the lock was in place, crossing into or out of the area was impossible, and even communication was cut off.

He had used this spell not only to stop Momonga from escaping, but also to prevent Albedo, whom he had banished with a Teleportation Circle, from returning.

Warriors shouldn't be able to use teleportation magic, but who could say for sure? Besides, there were the Elf Twins.

The task Hades had assigned Hanzo was exactly what he had just done to Albedo. He didn't need to kill the Elf Twins; he only had to banish them.

To accomplish this, he had spent quite a few scrolls. First was a tenth-tier Time Stop scroll, followed by a Teleportation Circle scroll. That spell was also tenth-tier.

Last came Dimensional Lock. Although it was only ninth-tier, he had given Hanzo six scrolls of it, while he had provided just two each of the first two spells.

He had no choice. He needed to seal off the entire area and prevent the others from teleporting back. A single Dimensional Lock couldn't cover such a vast plain, so he had to rely on numbers.

Hades suddenly wondered what would happen if Hanzo used a Magic Item Book. Would it cost him experience too?

The Magic Item Book Hades had used was different from a scroll. Only Magic Casters could use scrolls, and the spell written on one had to be something a Magic Caster could learn.

Magic Item Books, however, came in different types. Aside from summoning monster mercenaries, they could also cast spells like scrolls. Anyone could use these books, even a Warrior.

But Warriors rarely used them in YGGDRASIL. Although they had no restrictions on who could use them, they required experience points, and a few high-tier spells could easily cost enough to cause a level loss.

Moreover, these books were made from the same materials as scrolls and were just as troublesome to produce. For Warriors, low-tier magic wasn't worth using, while repeated use of high-tier spells meant losing levels. They were useful in an emergency, but anyone who relied on them as a source of combat power was an idiot.

Still, Warriors had to keep a few on hand for unforeseen circumstances. They were practically useless, but too useful to discard.

In any case, Hades was facing an unusual situation.

He could only cast Dimensional Lock through a Magic Item Book. If he didn't, the trap he had set—the Teleportation Circle—would be useless, as the spell effects would conflict.

Albedo and Momonga were close to each other. So after Hades dealt with Albedo, Momonga was briefly confused, then began to notice something was wrong and started turning his head toward him.

But it was already too late. From the moment Time Stop began to the moment it ended, and then Albedo was banished, the entire sequence had taken only two seconds.

Hades knew Momonga wouldn't be affected by Time Stop, so he had to move as quickly as possible—fast enough that Momonga couldn't react. And he had succeeded.

Momonga's utterly useless Mask of Envy was clearly visible. Albedo had been behind him, but now Hades had taken her place.

Hades clenched his fist and struck Momonga's unguarded back. He didn't want to send Momonga flying; that would simply give him room to react.

So he didn't punch straight through. The instant his fist touched Momonga's back, he swung it down toward the ground at a ninety-degree angle.

"Boom!" The ground seemed to shudder. Hades hadn't expected the undead man's seemingly frail body to be so hard.

The bones didn't break as he had expected. Instead, Momonga was driven into the earth.

Hades thought he heard Momonga make a startled sound. He probably still hadn't figured out what was happening, but that didn't stop Hades from continuing to punch.

With that first punch, he had used the Monk skill Stunning Blow. Momonga had clearly been hit by it; even if he wanted to move now, he couldn't fight back.

Hades pressed his advantage and used the skill Rapid Combo. The muffled blows rang in everyone's ears. Nigun stared blankly at the sudden turn of events, his mouth hanging open as a hissing sound escaped his throat, but he couldn't utter a word.

The Dominion Authority's attacks didn't stop. Its hammer kept crashing down on the man in armor made of some unknown material. Since the Magic Caster was beneath him, the Dominion Authority's blows naturally landed on the man instead.

Yet the man seemed not to care at all, simply letting the Dominion Authority pummel him.

"No, maybe he really doesn't care. That Magic Caster caught the Dominion Authority's attack with one hand. How much more so this man who suddenly appeared and pinned him to the ground to beat him?" Nigun's thoughts churned.

He had never imagined anything like this could happen, not with that Magic Caster or with the armored man who had suddenly appeared.

"Captain! What do we do?"

Not everyone was frozen with shock like Nigun. One of his subordinates immediately asked what their captain planned to do next. The soldier was terrified. The Sunlight Scripture had never encountered anything like this before, and he didn't want to die here.

"Crack."

The crisp sound reached Hades's ears. It was the sound of a bone breaking. He had never heard it before, but he was certain that was what a bone breaking sounded like.

Momonga had finally failed to withstand a few blows from a Warrior close to level 190. After Stunning Blow, Hades had used Rapid Combo, then struck again—and heard the crack of breaking bone.

Hades stood up, his breathing completely steady. As the Dominion Authority continued to hammer him from above, a long blade suddenly appeared in his hand. He leaped lightly and brought it down in a casual slash.

The Dominion Authority was split in two in an instant, then vanished in a shower of starlight. By now, the sky had grown completely dark. The sight was especially jarring to Nigun.

After dealing with the fly buzzing overhead, Hades looked again at Momonga, who lay motionless on the ground. Just as he was about to pick up Momonga's robe, a flash of light passed over the body, and it vanished into thin air. The only thing left on the ground was a mask.

Hades was surprised, but not shocked. At the same time, he felt much more at ease. He picked up the Mask of Envy and casually put it into his Infinite Backpack.

"A super-rare Resurrection Ring, huh? It only drops low-value items. But at least I can rest easy knowing the Resurrection Ring works."

Hades muttered to himself. He had one of those super-rare Resurrection Rings too.
