Background / History

Hades was originally a casual, lone-wolf YGGDRASIL player from a wealthy family. He joined the 1,500-person crusade mounted by eight guilds against Ainz Ooal Gown, reached Nazarick's eighth floor with the main force, and survived until late in the annihilation battle by retreating from danger. Momonga cornered and mocked him there, creating the grudge that shaped Hades's later actions. 1 24

Afterward, Hades spent heavily on improving his character and researched Momonga's build through Ulbert Alain Odle, with whom he became acquainted. He acquired the World Item Seed of the World Tree and developed three specialized racial builds around its race-switching function. 1 8 20

Following a year-long absence from YGGDRASIL, he returned shortly before the server shutdown and traveled to Nazarick intending to use his second World Item, World Will, against it. He arrived too late, instead treating the visit as a farewell to his youth and former obsession. 2

At midnight, Hades was transported to an unknown world with his YGGDRASIL powers and inventory intact. After experiencing pain, hunger, and taste, he accepted that this was reality rather than a virtual environment. He initially concealed his identity as “Hakimi” while receiving food and shelter from Emmet and Enri. 3 5 6 7

He later discovered Momonga and Nazarick NPCs near the village. Believing Ainz Ooal Gown's past PKing and current conduct made them too dangerous to leave unchecked, Hades prepared and executed an ambush. He exiled Albedo, trapped Momonga with Dimensional Lock, and defeated him; Momonga's Resurrection Ring activated afterward. 13 17 20 21 23 26

Hades then traveled toward E-Rantel to gather intelligence, assess the new world's power ceiling, earn local currency, and hide his identity. He registered with the Adventurer's Guild, investigated the Magic Caster Guild, and began producing potions with Enfirea. 25 35 37 39 45

Appearance

Hades can change among three racial bodies through the Seed of the World Tree. He also uses equipment and a disguise necklace to avoid recognition.

  • Human form — Male human warrior; Karma 200 and Good alignment. 4 7
  • Undead form — A fleshless skeleton with no organs, yet able to move, sense, and smell; Karma -500 and Extremely Evil alignment. 8
  • Elf form — Appears largely human to Hades, despite being an Elf; Neutral alignment. 8 9
  • Armor spell form — Covered in agile black, metallic rock-like armor with forearm barbs, muscle-lined plating, and a streamlined helmet. 22
  • Disguises — Uses a necklace with three appearance slots that physically changes his appearance; he pairs it with inconspicuous relic-tier gear while in E-Rantel. 36

Personality

Hades is cautious, analytical, and intensely self-preserving. He considers mercy a potential danger when confronting unknown threats, especially Ainz Ooal Gown, whose past PKing and indifference toward killing convinced him to strike first. 15 17 20 24

He is also adaptable and practical. Upon arriving in the new world, he tested his retained abilities, chose to gather local information, sought income, and adjusted his plans once he learned native magic was far weaker than YGGDRASIL magic. 7 9 35 39

Despite his ruthlessness toward threats such as Nigun, he shows consideration for civilians and those who have treated him kindly. He avoided damaging Emmet's property, felt gratitude toward Enri, and warned Nigun away from the village to avoid exposing its inhabitants to Nazarick's retaliation. 7 9 25 26

Abilities & Skills

Seed of the World Tree

A World Item that lets Hades switch among three stored racial characters after its cooldown ends. It enables him to combine the strengths of separate level-100 builds. 7 8 9

  • Switches between Human, Undead, and Elf forms. 8
  • Lets buffs cast in his magic-caster form remain when he changes into his warrior form. 8 22
  • Requires familiarity with every stored build; the item alone does not guarantee overwhelming strength. 8
  • Hades possesses another World Item, World Will, but considers it a single-use asset and has not used it. 2 15

Armor

An Earth-specialization spell exclusive to the high-tier Evoker class. It encases Hades in black armor and adds approximately level-65 warrior offense and level-75 defense on top of his existing stats. 22

  • Can only target its caster. 22
  • Combined with his human warrior form, it raises him to nearly level-170 warrior stats; equipment can push this close to level 190. 22
  • Cannot be used as conventional support magic because it cannot be cast on others. 22

Story Role / Major Arcs

YGGDRASIL and the Nazarick Grudge

Hades participates in the failed crusade against Ainz Ooal Gown, is humiliated by Momonga, and subsequently spends heavily to develop the power needed to challenge Nazarick. 1 20 24

Transfer to the New World

He returns to YGGDRASIL for its final moments, then awakens in a new world with no operation panel or logout function. He confirms its reality through pain, hunger, and taste while sheltering near Carne Village. 2 3 5 6 7

Testing the Three Builds

Hades verifies that his World Item, racial forms, equipment, magic, and skills still function. He establishes a forest base and learns that fatigue remains relevant outside his undead form. 7 8 9 12

Assassination of Momonga

After locating Momonga and Nazarick's NPCs, Hades summons Hanzo, studies the situation, and launches a prepared attack. He removes Albedo from the battlefield, locks down Momonga, and defeats him, though Momonga revives through a Resurrection Ring. 13 15 17 21 22 23

E-Rantel Infiltration and Commerce

Hades travels toward E-Rantel, disguises himself, registers as an adventurer, and investigates local magic. Learning that the world's magic ceiling is low, he pivots toward information gathering and potion production with Enfirea. 25 35 36 37 39 45 50

Trivia

  • His full in-game name, “Hahaha Hades,” resulted from “Hades” already being registered when he created his account. He dislikes the “Hahaha” portion and orders Hanzo to address him simply as Hades. 2 15
  • Hades possesses roughly twenty billion YGGDRASIL gold coins, though he initially does not know whether they function as valid local currency. 15 26
  • He once considered himself skilled mainly at spending money, reflecting his history as a major YGGDRASIL spender. 35
  • His three builds were deliberately designed as an ultimate warrior, an ultimate magic caster, and a dedicated production character rather than three combat builds. 9
