The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, stood in his office. Sunlight streamed through the window onto him, lending him an added air of solemn dignity.
When he learned that Sakumo and his team had not only returned to Konoha so quickly but had also captured two Sunagakure Jonin, an incredulous expression appeared on his face.
"You moved so quickly. That truly exceeded my expectations."
There was a trace of shock in the Third Hokage's voice, but even more than that, there was praise for the team's efficiency.
Senior Sakumo entered the office, standing tall with a resolute expression. "We didn't waste any time, Lord Hokage. The urgency of the mission required us to act as quickly as possible."
The Third Hokage's gaze swept across Sakumo and the others. His eyes conveyed pride and trust in these shinobi. "Well done, Sakumo. Capturing Sunagakure Jonin gives us a valuable source of intelligence."
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, turned and issued an order to the Anbu waiting outside the door. "Immediately arrange for these two Sunagakure Jonin to be handed over to Danzo for interrogation." His voice carried unquestionable authority.
However, before his words had faded from the air, Liuxia and Hatake Sakumo spoke up in unison to stop him. "Lord Hokage, please wait!"
The Third Hokage turned around. Faced with their objection, a puzzled expression appeared on his face. "Hm? What is it? Is there a problem?"
Liuxia and Hatake Sakumo exchanged a knowing glance. In the end, Liuxia stepped forward, his voice heavy.
"Third Uncle, this is what happened. Our operation in the Land of Rivers this time seems to have been discovered by Sunagakure in advance. We encountered a targeted ambush. If our opponents hadn't underestimated our strength—and if Captain Sakumo hadn't been strong enough—we might not have made it back."
