Konoha Village, Hyuga Clan Grounds.
Hiashi Hyuga stood in the ruined room, his face ashen.
His right hand still trembled slightly, a residual effect from his encounter with the intruder.
"Clan Head, we've sealed all exits," a Hyuga Branch Family ninja reported, kneeling on one knee. "But... the opponent used Space Ninjutsu. Our Byakugan couldn't track them at all."
Hiashi's fists clenched, making a cracking sound.
Space Ninjutsu.
Only a handful of people in the entire ninja world could use a jutsu of this caliber.
And just half an hour ago, someone had used this very technique to snatch Hinata away right before his eyes.
"Father!"
Hizashi Hyuga burst into the room, his face etched with anxiety. "The Anbu just reported that the Cloud Village Envoy Group also had an incident. One of their escorts is missing, and they're conducting a village-wide search."
Hiashi looked up sharply. "Cloud Village?"
"Yes. And... they suspect our Hyuga Clan did it," Hizashi lowered his voice. "Rumors are already spreading that we kidnapped their people in retaliation for Cloud Village coveting the Byakugan."
"Nonsense!" Hiashi roared, smashing the nearby table with a single palm strike.
His daughter had been taken, and these scoundrels were trying to frame them?
"Lord Hiashi, please calm down."
Nara Shikaku's voice came from outside the door.
He entered the room, his expression grave. "Fourth Hokage sent me to ask if you got a clear look at the opponent."
Hiashi took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
"The opponent wore a mask, so I couldn't see their face. But..." he paused, "they used the Sharingan."
Shikaku's pupils contracted sharply.
Sharingan?
"Are you sure?"
"My Byakugan wouldn't be mistaken," Hiashi gritted out. "I clearly saw the tomoe in those eyes. And the opponent used Space Ninjutsu to take Hinata directly."
Shikaku's expression grew even more grim.
Sharingan plus Space Ninjutsu.
This combination brought to mind a terrifying possibility.
"Lord Hiashi, I will report this to the Fourth Hokage immediately," Shikaku turned to leave. "Until then, please, do your best to keep the clan members steady and prevent them from acting rashly."
"Wait!" Hiashi called out to him. "Shikaku, do you know something?"
Shikaku stopped, not turning back.
"I merely have a guess. But if it's true..." his voice dropped low, "then this incident might be far more complicated than we imagine."
With that, he vanished from his spot.
Hiashi stood there, his fists clenched even tighter.
Hinata... you must be safe.
Hokage's Office.
Minato was stunned after hearing Shikaku's report.
"Sharingan? Space Ninjutsu?"
"Yes," Shikaku nodded. "And according to Hiashi's description, the opponent's Space Ninjutsu was extremely proficient, disappearing almost instantly."
Danzo suddenly spoke up. "Could it be someone from the Uchiha Clan?"
Fugaku's face instantly turned livid.
"Lord Danzo, please watch your words!" he stood up abruptly. "While the Uchiha Clan possesses the Sharingan, they would never commit such a despicable act!"
"Then how do you explain that the opponent used the Sharingan?" Danzo sneered. "Did someone steal your clan's eyes?"
"Enough!" Minato slammed the table.
The office fell silent.
"Now is not the time for infighting," Minato's voice was cold. "Shikaku, you said you had a guess?"
Shikaku was silent for a few seconds before speaking. "I suspect... the opponent might be the one who unleashed the Nine-Tails during the Nine-Tails Incident."
The air in the office seemed to freeze.
Minato's face turned extremely grim.
That person...
He would never forget the man who wore a mask and controlled the Nine-Tails with the Sharingan.
If it really was him...
"Immediately notify all Anbu!" Minato's voice was laced with killing intent. "Search for suspicious individuals with all your might! Also, send people to the Cloud Village Envoy Group's lodgings and keep a close eye on them!"
"Yes!"
Just then, another Anbu ninja appeared in a flash.
"Lord Minato, urgent intelligence!"
"Speak!"
"We found the bodies of Cloud Village ninjas on the outskirts of the village! Judging by the wounds... they were killed by kunai directly piercing their hearts!"
Minato shot to his feet.
Cloud Village ninjas' bodies?
"Where are the bodies?"
"They've already been brought back and are in the morgue."
Without another word, Minato used the Flying Raijin and vanished from his spot.
Danzo and Fugaku exchanged a look and followed.
Inside the morgue.
Minato looked at the body lying on the table, his brow furrowed.
This was indeed a ninja from Kumogakure Village, still wearing their uniform.
The fatal wound was the one that pierced the chest with a kunai.
"This person..." Fugaku suddenly spoke, "I know him."
Everyone looked at him.
"His name is Raizo, an elite Jonin from Kumogakure Village," Fugaku's voice was cold. "During the Third Shinobi World War, he once attempted to infiltrate Konoha to steal intelligence and was captured by our Uchiha Military Police Force."
"And then?" Minato asked.
"He was taken back by the Cloud Village during a prisoner exchange," Fugaku stared at the corpse. "I didn't expect him to come again this time."
Danzo suddenly sneered, "It seems the Cloud Village Envoy Group indeed has ill intentions. They claim to be here to discuss peace, but in reality, they're sending people to infiltrate Konoha and cause trouble."
"But the problem is..." Shikaku frowned, "If he was here to kidnap Hinata, why is he dead here?"
This question silenced everyone.
Minato crouched down and carefully examined the body.
Suddenly, he found something in the corpse's hand.
It was a small piece of cloth.
Deep blue, with the Hyuga Clan's emblem embroidered on it.
Minato's pupils contracted sharply.
This was a piece of Hinata's clothing!
"It seems this Raizo did go to kidnap Hinata," Minato stood up, his voice growing colder. "But he failed and was killed."
"Could it have been someone from the Hyuga Clan?" Danzo began to instigate again.
"Impossible," Fugaku shook his head. "If it were someone from the Hyuga, they wouldn't use kunai. They specialize in Gentle Fist and Byakugan."
"Then who could it be?"
No one could answer this question.
Just then, an Anbu ninja rushed in.
"Lord Minato! The leader of the Cloud Village Envoy Group, Toroi, is causing a scene at the Hokage's office entrance! He says if we don't hand over the murderer of their comrade, he will report to Lord Raikage and have Kumogakure Village declare war on Konoha!"
Minato's expression turned completely grim.
Declare war?
These bastards, they actually dared to say that!
"Let's go, let's go meet them."
Minato turned and walked away, his Chakra beginning to surge.
If the Cloud Village truly wanted a fight, he wouldn't mind showing them the might of the Yellow Flash.
At the Hokage's office entrance.
Toroi stood there aggressively with several Cloud Village ninjas.
A large crowd of Konoha ninjas had already gathered around, but no one dared to step forward.
After all, they were an envoy group, and any physical altercation would be a diplomatic incident.
"The Fourth Hokage finally decided to show himself?" Toroi saw Minato and a mocking smile appeared on his face. "I thought you'd keep hiding."
Minato didn't speak, just looked at him quietly.
His azure blue eyes showed no emotional fluctuation.
But everyone who knew Minato knew this was his true sign of anger.
"Lord Toroi, we found your companion," Minato's voice was very calm. "He died on the outskirts of the village, his heart pierced by a kunai."
Toroi's expression changed.
"What? Raizo is dead?"
"Yes. And..." Minato took out the piece of cloth from his robes. "We found this in his hand."
Toroi's pupils contracted sharply when he saw the cloth.
It was the Hyuga Clan's crest!
"It seems your Kumogakure Village is truly interested in our Konoha's kekkei genkai," Minato's voice grew colder. "You claim to be here for peace, but in reality, you sent someone to kidnap the Hyuga Clan's young lady. Lord Toroi, how do you think I should handle this matter?"
Cold sweat began to bead on Toroi's forehead.
He hadn't expected Raizo to fail, and even more so to leave evidence behind.
"Fourth Hokage, there must be some misunderstanding!" Toroi quickly explained. "Raizo, he... he might have just wanted to visit the Hyuga Clan Grounds. After all, the Byakugan's reputation..."
"Visit?" Minato interrupted. "Then why did he infiltrate at midnight? Why did he fight Hyuga Hiashi? And why did he have a piece of cloth from Hinata's clothes?"
Each question was like a knife, stabbing deeply into Toroi's heart.
He opened his mouth, but couldn't speak.
The Konoha ninjas around them looked at the Cloud Village Envoy Group with eyes full of hostility.
"Lord Toroi," Minato took a step forward. "I will give you two choices now."
"First, your Kumogakure Village will formally apologize to Konoha and compensate the Hyuga Clan for their losses."
"Second..." Terrifying Chakra suddenly erupted from Minato's body. "I will detain all of you right now, and then send someone to Kumogakure Village to demand an explanation from Lord Raikage."
Toroi's face turned ashen.
He knew that if they were truly detained, they might never return to Kumogakure Village.
"I... I need time to consider..."
"I'll give you one minute," Minato said coldly.
Just then.
A vortex-shaped spatial fluctuation suddenly appeared at the top of the Hokage Building.
Everyone looked up.
They saw a masked man standing there, holding an unconscious little girl.
The little girl had dark blue short hair.
It was Hinata Hyuga!
"Hinata!" Hiashi's voice came from the crowd, filled with anger and worry.
Minato's pupils contracted sharply.
That mask...
It was him!
The man who released the Nine-Tails during the Nine-Tails Incident!
"Long time no see, Fourth Hokage," Obito's voice came from behind the mask, with a sickly smile. "It seems you've been doing well."
"Put Hinata down!" Minato's voice was filled with killing intent.
"Put her down?" Obito looked down at Hinata in his arms. "Sure. But..."
He suddenly looked up, his crimson Sharingan eyes staring intently at Minato through the mask's holes.
"You have to answer me a question first."
"Fourth Hokage, do you think... this world is still worth saving?"
