Background / History

Konoha was founded by Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara. By the time of Madara's apparent return, it remains prosperous but is plagued by political infighting, covert conspiracies, and the long-standing marginalization of the Uchiha clan 2.

The return of Lin Feng, posing as Madara, throws the village leadership into crisis. He devastates the Hokage office, exposes Danzo's possession of Sharingan, humiliates Root, and warns Hiruzen Sarutobi that he will eventually return to take what he wants 1 2 3. Hiruzen seals the Hokage Building, classifies the incident, restricts Root personnel to their base, and worries that news of Madara's return could ignite the Uchiha clan's resentment 4.

Following Danzo's disappearance, a puppet version of Danzo returns and reassumes control of Root. Under Lin Feng's direction, it gathers intelligence on Namikaze Minato and interferes with Konoha's succession politics 20 21.

Evidence against advisors Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu forces both to resign. Minato becomes the Fourth Hokage, while Shimura Danzo and Fugaku Uchiha are appointed as Hokage Assistants, bringing the Uchiha clan into Konoha's core leadership for the first time in decades 34.

Madara's Return

Lin Feng infiltrates the Hokage office as Uchiha Madara, defeats ANBU and Root forces, and publicly condemns Konoha's political decay and treatment of the Uchiha. Hiruzen is left convinced that the legendary Madara has returned 1 2 3.

Fourth Hokage Succession

The village undergoes a destabilizing transfer of power after Hiruzen resigns. Lin Feng uses puppet Danzo, political pressure, and exposed scandals to remove Koharu and Homura, install Minato as Hokage, and secure Fugaku's promotion as Hokage Assistant 19 20 21 34.

Nine-Tails Incident

Obito releases the Nine-Tails in Konoha in an attempt to destroy the village and intensify hostility toward the Uchiha. Instead, Fugaku leads the Uchiha clan in the defense effort, transforming them from suspected conspirators into publicly recognized protectors 35.

Minato and Kushina survive when Lin Feng interrupts the Dead Demon Consuming Seal and enables the Nine-Tails' chakra to be divided between Kushina and newborn Naruto. Hiruzen classifies Madara's involvement as an S-rank secret 36 37.

Hyuga Kidnapping Crisis

Hinata Hyuga is abducted amid negotiations with a Kumogakure delegation. Konoha seals its entrances and exits, deploys ANBU and the Uchiha Military Police, and faces escalating diplomatic pressure after a Cloud ninja is found dead with a Hyuga crest in hand 40 41.

Obito subsequently appears atop the Hokage Building holding Hinata, confronting Minato before being rescued by Lin Feng posing as Madara 41 43.

Response to Akatsuki and Kirigakure

Konoha learns that Akatsuki, led by Nagato, has ties to Amegakure and is seeking Tailed Beasts 44. The announcement of an alliance between Akatsuki and Kirigakure under Fourth Mizukage Kisame alarms Konoha's leadership, which recognizes the alliance as a threat to the existing political order 45.

Konoha considers contacting the other great villages to form an allied force against Madara and Akatsuki, but Shikaku doubts that Iwagakure, Kumogakure, or Sunagakure will cooperate before facing the threat directly 45.
