Chapter Ten
"Teacher, it seems I really picked up a promising one this time! Something never seen before, never heard of before..."
Colin stared at the astonishing sight before him, his eyes wide. Then he could not help chuckling smugly, as though he were taking credit for discovering Lynn.
However, the beautiful teacher merely glanced at him indifferently, her lovely eyes showing little reaction.
She sighed softly, though there was a faint heaviness in her tone.
"More than ten years ago, I accepted quite a few students as well, but not one of them survived. In The Furnace, without sufficient combat strength, it is difficult to survive. Especially pure newcomers... They have only just entered the world of wizards and do not yet understand the rules. Not one of them can survive..."
Colin's smile froze, and the smug expression on his face gradually faded.
He smacked his lips and said cautiously, "Teacher, why concern yourself so much with pure newcomers? Even students with Dark Wizard backgrounds may not necessarily..."
Before he could finish, the beautiful teacher's expression instantly turned cold.
Though she was usually soft-spoken and gentle as a spring breeze, her azure eyes narrowed sharply at that moment, her gaze falling upon Colin like icy blades.
"Mother of Nature above," she said in a low voice, yet it carried a pure authority, "even in The Furnace, we must keep our hearts pure. These pure newcomers have not been tainted by The Furnace, and only they are worthy of Mother of Nature's seeds."
Colin immediately realized he had misspoken. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as he hurriedly lowered his voice.
"I understand, Teacher. I was wrong."
The beautiful teacher withdrew her gaze and turned her attention back to the seeds on the disk.
Her expression gradually softened, though her eyes grew even more focused.
There were many Seeds of Life on the disk. Each brimmed with vigorous vitality, yet they were no ordinary seeds.
They were exceedingly demanding when sensing their chosen person. Only when they perceived the potential for growth in that person would they respond.
Colin's earlier remark that his teacher had "high standards" had not been an exaggeration.
Even an apprentice with exceptional talent could forget about becoming her student if they failed to gain the seeds' recognition.
Yet at that moment, every seed on the disk responded to Lynn at once!
"This..." The beautiful teacher's gaze tightened slightly as her eyes settled on Lynn.
She knew these seeds did not merely look at aptitude. More importantly, they could sense the possibility of growth compatible with themselves.
Yet now, over a hundred Seeds of Life had responded to the same person at once. It was a phenomenon never seen before.
"Could this child be someone beloved by nature..."
She gently pressed her red lips together, her beautiful eyes fixed on Lynn, who was tightly wrapped inside the flower cocoon.
Whatever the process had been, Lynn had successfully passed the beautiful teacher's test.
The next moment, the beautiful flowers winding around Lynn slowly unfurled, like a great cocoon breaking apart.
As the petals scattered, Lynn's figure emerged from within. To him, that brief period had felt like an incomparably sweet dream.
When the flowers left his body, he awoke from that dream. Opening his eyes, he saw Colin and Colin's teacher watching him with smiles.
"Congratulations, Lynn. You passed Teacher's assessment."
Colin spoke with a smile, his tone carrying a hint of pride and relief.
Lynn had not yet fully understood what had just happened, but when his eyes fell upon the beautiful teacher's hand, he noticed that it had become disk-shaped, dotted with glowing, seed-like objects.
His heart stirred, and an incredulous delight appeared on his face. "I really passed, Lord Colin?"
"If you do not intend to refuse, then of course it's real! But now, you no longer need to call me 'Lord Colin.' Besides..."
Colin chuckled. "Shouldn't the person you address be our teacher?"
Only then did an uncontrollable surge of ecstasy truly rise within Lynn.
He had never imagined that he would be able to become the student of a real wizard.
Especially in his current environment, a man-eating Furnace, becoming the student of a true wizard was naturally like finding himself a powerful backer!
He took a deep breath, a sincere smile on his face, then respectfully bent at the waist.
"Teacher!"
"Good child."
The beautiful teacher revealed a gentle smile, a trace of appreciation in her lovely eyes. "My name is Rosalind. You may simply call me Teacher."
Hearing this, Lynn grew even more excited.
Rosalind was also quite satisfied with Lynn.
Whether it was his affinity with nature or his humility and manners, both pleased her greatly.
Thus, Lynn successfully became Rosalind's student.
The exchange of pleasantries between teacher and student, as well as with Colin, gradually made the atmosphere relaxed and harmonious.
Having accepted a student, Rosalind naturally had something to give him.
She plucked a medal from among the plants in the garden and handed it to Lynn.
The medal was crystal-clear throughout, its surface engraved with various flowers and emitting a faint glow.
Rosalind told Lynn that it was an Enchanted Item she had personally crafted, called the Heart of Flower Language.
She explained, "Enchanted Items are objects crafted by Official Wizards and imbued with special energy through enchantment. They can be activated with a small amount of spiritual power and an activation incantation, producing powerful wizardly effects."
For Wizard Apprentices, the importance of Enchanted Items went without saying.
Rosalind continued.
"Wizard Apprentices do not possess the diverse methods of Official Wizards. Many apprentices have not even mastered more than a few complete spells. Under such circumstances, Enchanted Items not only make up for insufficient combat power, but are also key to improving one's chances of survival."
Lynn carefully accepted the medal, gratitude in his eyes.
For him now, this Enchanted Item was undoubtedly a priceless treasure that could save his life.
After all, an enemy of unknown identity still lurked in the shadows, ready to strike at him at any moment.
With this Heart of Flower Language, even if that enemy truly set their sights on him, he would at least have some ability to protect himself.
Moreover, he had now become the student of an Official Wizard. That enemy would most likely be wary of this connection and choose to hold back and retreat rather than continue entangling with him so easily.
No matter what, this Enchanted Item was undoubtedly a precious gift.
It not only represented a safeguard for survival, but also gave Lynn an excellent first impression of his "bargain beautiful teacher."
Compared to the cold and vicious Dark Wizards he had imagined, Teacher Rosalind truly was like an angel, just as her beautiful appearance suggested!
The Heart of Flower Language's effect was to form a protective barrier woven from flowers upon activation, providing the wearer with life-saving defense for a short period of time.
