Chapter Eleven
However, Rosalind's gifts to Lynn did not end there.
Besides the Heart of Flower Language, she also handed Lynn a seed.
More precisely, it was not purely a gift, but a crucial part of her research system.
As her student, if he wished to study and inherit her research, he had to possess a Seed of Life.
Rosalind raised the flower tray in her hands before Lynn and said gently:
"Wizards pursue vastly different fields of research and are therefore divided into many categories. For example, wizards who study fire, ice, water, lightning, and the like are generally called Elemental Wizards; those who delve into the power of bloodlines are Bloodline Wizards; and wizards who control enchanted puppets or summoned creatures are called Summoner Wizards."
"My field of research is closely related to nature, so we are classified as Nature Wizards."
She paused, her gaze settling on Lynn as her tone turned serious:
"However, before we formally begin, you must possess a Seed of Life. This seed is not only the core of my research, but will also be closely tied to your entire life. So choose carefully!"
Lynn nodded, growing more solemn.
"Come here. Use your spiritual power to sense these seeds."
Rosalind gently swayed the flower tray in her hand, and a soft glow flickered within it.
Her voice was tender, carrying a soothing power like the fragrance of flowers:
"These seeds will take the initiative to show you their types and functions. Their choice concerns your future Path of the Wizard."
"Remember the feelings produced by connecting with each seed, then make the choice that suits you best!"
Lynn took a deep breath and stepped forward.
As the distance narrowed, the floral fragrance in the air grew richer, as though it could seep into one's soul.
He closed his eyes, gradually immersing his mind as he extended his spiritual power toward the Seeds of Life resting quietly in the flower tray.
Very soon, his consciousness established a faint connection with one of the seeds.
"Black Longba Tree..." Lynn murmured the seed's name, sensing the energy surging within it before frowning in confusion. "Never heard of it... Its aura leans toward darkness and death..."
His spiritual power continued toward the next seed.
"White Ring. Also unfamiliar, but its aura carries a warm vitality. It seems to possess healing abilities..."
As his spiritual power stretched onward, Lynn gradually resonated with the seeds in the flower tray.
One after another, these seeds revealed their traits to him. Some were filled with destruction and gloom, while others radiated the warmth of life or an air of mystery.
Lynn's mind wandered among the seeds, sensing the differing attributes of each one.
Under normal circumstances, among the more than one hundred Seeds of Life in Rosalind's flower tray, resonating with even a few was already a rare display of talent.
The most outstanding student she had ever seen had only activated a little over thirty seeds.
Someone like Lynn, who had activated nearly every Seed of Life in the flower tray, was something she had encountered for the first time in her life.
For that very reason, Rosalind did not rush Lynn. She merely stood quietly to the side and watched him.
The more than one hundred seeds in the flower tray each had their own traits and purposes. Some brimmed with destructive power, some contained the rhythm of life, while others shone with nature's radiance.
With so many seeds before his eyes, even Lynn felt dazzled.
Moreover, he discovered that every seed reacted to him in exactly the same way. There was no difference in rank like Rosalind had described.
Since every seed was the same, Lynn simply decided to choose according to his current needs.
He remembered that before the assessment, his "cheap teacher" had once said something:
"Students who study with me usually have little combat ability. You could even say their combat ability is poor."
At the time, Lynn had not thought much of those words, but now, as he faced these seeds, he seemed to understand their meaning.
Most likely, these seeds were what limited the combat ability of Rosalind's students.
Lynn knew clearly that his greatest goal right now was not powerful offensive strength, but survival.
His enemy lurked in the darkness, while his talent, Heaven Rewards Diligence, meant that as long as he could endure the difficulties before him, he would surely achieve greatness on the Path of the Wizard in the future.
Therefore, his criteria were very clear:
Defense, life, protection. As long as it could keep him alive, it was the best choice.
As Lynn's spiritual power touched the seeds one by one, he ultimately selected the two that best met his needs:
"Long Fennel Pine." The seed emitted a faint glow, as though softly recounting its traits:
"An unyielding will, the power to protect life..."
"Ivgried." The aura of the other seed was purer, brimming with the essence of nature:
"I bring life and hope, protecting the sky, the earth, and nature..."
Both seeds undoubtedly met Lynn's expectations.
"One out of two..." Lynn murmured, his spiritual power hovering between the two seeds.
However, with his current knowledge and experience, it was difficult for him to see the true difference between them.
In the end, his gaze settled on Ivgried. His intuition told him that this seed's aura suited him better.
"Then I'll choose Ivgried!"
Having made up his mind, Lynn carefully wrapped the seed in his spiritual power.
Then he opened his eyes and looked at his beautiful teacher standing close by, anticipation coloring his voice.
"Teacher, I choose this one."
Rosalind's beautiful eyes followed the direction Lynn pointed and fell upon the seed. She nodded gently, her red lips parting:
"Ivgried..."
"Next, use your spiritual power to draw it in and inject your information into the seed. It will respond."
Lynn nodded. Without hesitation, his spiritual power touched Ivgried again.
This time, unlike merely sensing it before, he needed to actively inject his own spiritual information.
At first, he remained calm, but he soon felt the seed's weight.
The seed's surface seemed to be wrapped in an incomparably tough barrier. His spiritual power was blocked outside, unable to penetrate deeply.
He gritted his teeth and continued trying. Fine beads of sweat even appeared on his forehead, while his face gradually turned pale.
He could feel his spiritual power draining rapidly. The sensation of being pulled away slowly exhausted his mind, but he did not retreat.
Finally, after an unknown length of effort, his spiritual power pierced through the barrier and completely entered the seed.
At that moment, the tray in Rosalind's hands trembled lightly, and Ivgried slowly floated up.
A hazy green light emanated from the seed. Like a flowing stream, it enveloped Lynn.
Then the green light flashed abruptly, and the seed transformed into a streak of azure radiance that flew straight toward Lynn's brow.
Lynn only felt a slight warmth between his brows. Then the light flowed into his body like water, merging completely with him.
At the same time, an azure mark appeared on his forehead, shaped like a leaf.
The mark vanished after a single flash, but the strange sensation from that instant made Lynn's heart tremble.
"This is..." Lynn murmured in surprise.
"Ivgried has already established a connection with you," Rosalind said gently.
Lynn suddenly discovered that within his spiritual domain, a slightly shriveled seed glowing faintly azure floated quietly in the air. It was Ivgried, the seed he had just chosen.
