Chapter 38
Inside Night Shadow Bunker, dense negative energy permeated the air, filling it with a bone-chilling cold.
Lynn followed closely behind, swiftly moving through the ancient bunker alongside the team.
Lynn had not expected to run into his enemies, Riley and the other one, here, but the two sides had temporarily gone their separate ways.
Although he did not need to worry about his safety for the time being, Lynn still raised his guard to the highest level and remained extremely cautious.
Along the way, they encountered very few living guards. Instead, they came across Magic Beasts, puppets, traps, and similar obstacles.
Fortunately, everyone remained alert and skillfully avoided those potential dangers.
At last, the team stopped before a heavy door.
Standing before it, the team leader's eyes gleamed with excitement as he said in a low voice:
"This should be the Potion Repository mentioned in the intelligence! Forget everything else—your spatial storage items had better be full when we leave. You understand, right..."
As soon as he finished speaking, the team leader pulled out something resembling an identity token from his robes and gently placed it into a recess in the door. Then, he began quietly chanting a spell.
The rhythm of the wizarding language echoed through the air. The heavy stone door trembled faintly, and dust drifted down from its cracks.
"Crack!"
The heavy stone door slowly opened, revealing the scene within.
Before them was an orderly storeroom. Neat cabinets were filled with compartment after compartment, clearly designed specifically for storing potions.
Although the war had forced the Potion Repository to urgently transfer some of its supplies, with many potions requisitioned as military reserves, the potions left behind were still exceedingly valuable.
In fact, the remaining potions were even more enticing to the team!
That was because the potions transferred for military use had mostly been recovery potions or short-term combat-enhancement drugs.
The potions left behind, however, were precious resources capable of improving cultivation efficiency, strengthening one's realm, and accelerating the growth of one's strength.
Delight appeared in the eyes of every team member, and Lynn was no exception.
He rushed inside impatiently, and the sight before him made his heart race.
Ever since entering The Furnace, Lynn had remained in the Potion Garden. Through its internal channels, he had drunk a few potions here and there.
Although he could buy some potions at discounted prices, even then, potions that improved cultivation remained quite expensive.
A single bottle of potion might have a good effect, but it was far from significant enough. Only extensive accumulation could produce real results.
Moreover, potions that increased strength were outrageously expensive, far beyond what Lynn could afford.
Besides, with the boost from his talent, Lynn could achieve the effects of potions—or even better—through hard work alone. As such, he had consumed very few potions.
Yet now, the Potion Repository before him contained such an abundant supply of potions, almost all top-grade formulas that could accelerate cultivation and enhance strength.
Zero-cost shopping! And this is practically my home turf!
Lynn was overjoyed. The Potion Repository before him was practically an enormous treasure trove.
Moreover, he had already maxed out the progress bar for the Introduction to Potion Processing course in the Potion Garden. He was thoroughly familiar with the classifications and effects of these potions.
As the saying went, long illness made the patient a doctor. Although he possessed more potion knowledge than the other apprentices, they were not completely ignorant either.
After all, everyone regularly bought and used potions. Over time, they naturally learned a thing or two.
"That side is for Level 3 Wizard Apprentices. The competition will definitely be fierce." Lynn saw many apprentices already swarming toward that area.
He did not hurry after them. Instead, he first searched for potions that could increase the mental power of Level 2 Wizard Apprentices.
After all, his current realm was still only Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
"Tears of the Day—its cultivation-enhancing effect is excellent for Level 2 Wizard Apprentices. Take it!"
"Mindy's Affection—it increases a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice's mental power. I definitely need it! Take it!"
"Secret of the Ocean—this is useful for both Level 2 and Level 3 Wizard Apprentices. Can't miss it. Take it!"
The spatial storage item issued by the team had roughly three cubic meters of space, more than enough room to store a large quantity of potions.
Lynn did not hesitate. He directly swept every potion suitable for Level 2 Wizard Apprentices from the shelves into his spatial storage item.
After all, others would certainly prioritize potions useful to themselves as well. The sooner he stored them away, the more secure he would feel.
After filling his spatial storage item to the brim, Lynn turned and went to take a look at the potion section for Level 3 Wizard Apprentices.
However, by the time he arrived, those potions had already been snatched clean by the other apprentices.
Lynn was not discouraged, though. Instead, he headed toward a special shelf.
A few apprentices had paused there before, but most of them eventually gave up and left.
These potions were valuable as well, but most were semi-finished products that required further processing before they could be effective.
Furthermore, many apprentices had never studied potionology and could not recognize the true value of these potions at all.
Rather than gambling on luck, I should choose things I recognize.
Thinking this, Lynn continued carefully selecting potions from the shelf.
"This... judging by the sheen and color, it should be a healing potion. It contains Three-Tailed Butterfly Flower ingredients. That's right, take it!"
"This color and form... it should be poison... Forget it. I won't take the risk."
"This should be an acceleration potion. It's one step away from being finished, so I definitely have to take it!"
Relying on his knowledge of potionology, Lynn discovered quite a few precious semi-finished potions.
Although they required further processing, they were enough to excite him.
After all, not only were these potions valuable, but once finished, their effects would surely be extraordinary.
However, the other apprentices had also more or less finished gathering all the potions they could take, and a tense atmosphere filled the air.
At that moment, the team leader shouted, "Fall in! Leave immediately!"
Hearing the team leader's command, Lynn's heart tightened. He knew he could not waste any more time.
He quickly swept his gaze over the remaining potions on the shelves, searching for any precious medicine he might have overlooked.
Suddenly, his gaze fixed on a potion compartment in the center of the second shelf.
Three bottles of grayish-brown liquid sat inside. From their appearance, they were unremarkable and even completely ordinary.
At first, Lynn had ignored them directly, just like the other apprentices.
But then, inspiration suddenly flashed through his mind. His eyes abruptly locked onto those three bottles, and his gaze instantly sharpened.
He stepped closer. After examining them carefully, his heart jolted, and surprise and wild joy flashed in his eyes. He could hardly believe this was real!
He recognized these three grayish-brown potions!
They were precisely the special potions needed by Level 3 Wizard Apprentices when attempting to advance to Official Wizard, described in detail in the final section of Introduction to Potion Processing.
"Even if they aren't finished products, these potions are incredibly valuable!"
Lynn's heartbeat quickened. Almost unconsciously, he murmured the words, his eyes filled with greed and excitement.
"Take them. I have to take them!"
Without hesitation, he removed several potions from his spatial storage item to make room, then stored the three precious bottles in his storage item.
At that moment, Lynn's heart pounded like thunder, and his palms were drenched in sweat.
His mind no longer allowed even the slightest hesitation. The value of these three potions was simply too high.
If the other apprentices discovered their purpose, they would likely disregard The Furnace's orders entirely, and a scramble would erupt throughout Night Shadow Bunker's Potion Repository.
Lynn hurriedly put the potions away. His spatial storage item was packed with the medicines he had just selected, and even the pockets of his robe were stuffed with quite a few bottles. As he walked, they clinked and clattered.
And Lynn was not the only one. The other team members were just as frantic, stuffing precious potions into their storage items or clothing pockets.
The group hurried out of the Potion Repository and rushed toward the exit through the complex corridors of Night Shadow Bunker.
However, just as they prepared to withdraw, a heavy pressure suddenly descended like a massive boulder, causing everyone's expression to change sharply.
Dense negative energy filled the air, and its suffocating presence made it seem as if the entire space had been shrouded beneath a cold, sinister gloom.
